Friday, November 10 (Morning Classes)

At the Cross

This cross makes a great door hanging or a gift for sick friend. They

will never be alone with this. Fun & easy to make out of wire.

*Students must bring: Small bucket for water

Chicken Scratch

A form of embroidery worked on gingham fabric.

*Time: 11:30 am-1:30 pm *Teacher: Carolyn Poe


*Students must bring: Small scissors & a 5-6 in. embroidery hoop

Corn Board Painting

This painting will be completed on a long wooden board. You will be

expressing your own artistic creations.

*Time: 9:30 am-1:30 pm *Teacher: Bessie Bain


*Students must bring: All supplies furnished.

Pick Up Sticks Quilt Technique

“Pick Up Sticks” will give you an opportunity to learn slic-

ing fabric & adding a “stick” to change the color composi-

tion of the quilt blocks. Learn to slice again to add a sec-

ond “stick” to rejoin with perfect intersections.

*Time: 9:30 am-1:30 pm *Teacher: Rita Hardman

*Cost: $10 *Skill Level: All levels with some sewing skills

*Students must bring: 20 pieces of varying prints, solids, and checks cut to 9.5 inch

squares; 20 strips cut to 1 inch long by 42 inches. These need to coordinate with 9.5 inch

squares so solids work well. The more variety the better. Sewing machine, neutral thread,

scissors, seam ripper, rotary cutter, design surface, cutting ruler, 1/4 inch seam marked for

stitching.

Woven Carolina Snowflake

The Carolina snowflake is an eight-pointed star-like form made

of cherry and maple splints that is a generous 15 inches in di-

ameter.

*Students must bring: 12-14 spring type clothespins

Silk scarf painting is easy and lets each person

express their own choice of colors and creative

expression.

A footstool to be bottomed with a twisted sea grass cord

with a triangular pattern.

Knitted Knockers

Handcrafted, soft, and lightweight prostheses for breast

cancer survivors. May be knitted or crocheted.

*Cost: $10 *Skill Level: Intermediate

*Students must bring: Set of size 4 double pointed needles for knitted or size G crochet

hook for crocheting.

Upcycled Journal

Turn an old book into a personalized art journal.

*Time: 9:30 am-11:30 pm *Teacher: Melony Lane


*Students must bring: Scissors, used hard cover book (not too large).

Optional: Variety of ribbons, yarns to share, heavy weight papers, old

calendar photos are perfect!

Specialty greeting cards

Students will complete several (3-6) greeting cards, some simple, some more elabo-

rate in the construction and folding. Students will have a stamping basics refresher.

Finished folded cards are 4 1/4 inch by 5 1/2 inch.

Family Tree

You will make a family tree using assorted fabrics for leaves on which you

will write the names of family members. This makes a nice accent for any

room.

Primitive Christmas Tree Basket

This wall basket makes a great door decoration for Christmas. It has green-

ery and a primitive tree on the front. This uses the EZ handle to weave and

is lots of fun!

Love Me knot basket

*Students must bring: Sewing machine & notions, 3 fat quar-

ters (1 exterior, 1 bow, 1 for lining/handles), matching thread

Crochet Homeless sleeping mat

Steps to create plastic yarn “plarn” to be crocheted using

chain stitch and single crochet to create 3 x 6 foot sleeping

mat with ties to be given to homeless folks.

Handmade mini book

Wonderful things come in small packages! Create a mini book to hold your small treasures.

*Time: 2:00 pm-5:00 pm *Teacher: Melony Lane


*Students must bring: Scissors, Heavy weight fabric scraps (upholstery, denim, etc.) papers from book pages (music sheets, old book pages, calendar pages), Optional: embellishments (buttons, ribbons, etc), ephemera (small pictures, stamps, etc.)

Mini (single event) Scrapbook

Students will use scoring, cutting, and folding, gluing, punching, and

some stamping and will construct a fun folded album with an attrac-

tive cover that ties shut for storage and safekeeping. Approximate

folded size is 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches.

*Students must bring: 10-20 photos of a single event, pet, person,

or family; stamps or stickers to coordinate and if owned- big score-

board or bone folder and/or stylus.

Flower Seed Bombs

Wildflower seed bombs to throw anywhere that could use a little floral

pick-me-up next spring and summer.

This is a fun little project. You will learn accurate piecing. The piec-

ing technique can be used on other projects.

Bust your fabric scrap stash with this fun fabric collage clutch! No pri-

or experience necessary but basic sewing knowledge is helpful. Sizes

can be customized for many uses including gift card wallet, coupon

wallet, or tote bags!
