1 Verify that the SAP TAO agent ST-PI is installed on the SAP Solution Manager server.

2 Upgrade to latest Microsoft .Net Framework.Verify your latest framework by going to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework. Ensure your current framework is 3.5 or higher.

Install QuickTest Professional3 Double-click [setup.exe]

4 Click [QuickTest Professional Setup]

5 Accept any prerequisites for installation by selecting [OK] and following the screen prompts

6 {Prerequisites}: Accept the licence terms and select Install

7 {Prerequisites}: Installation of prerequisites continues

8 Continue the QTP Setup: Click [Next >]

9 Accept the License Agreement ("I Agree") and click [Next >]

10 Enter your Name and Organization details and click [Next >]

11 Select the features required for your installation by clicking on the drop-down icon and selecting [Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive]. Ensure you select the SAP Solutions Add-in, plus any other add-ins that you require. Click [Next >]

12 Leave the Installation Folder as the default option and click [Next >]

13 Click [Next >] to confirm and begin the installation

14 Error handling: the installation may freeze at the point of Registering Modules (at least, it did with QTP10 – this issue may have been resolved with QTP11). This appears to be a problem with the msiexec installer.To resolve this issue:

14a With the HP QTP installation still running, open Windows Task Manager and select the Processes tab. Order the Processes by Image Name, and scroll down to the msiexec.exe processes.

14b Select the SYSTEM msiexec.exe process that is between 3k and 10k in size (second one down in screenshot) and select [End Process]. Click [Yes] on the warning dialog.

Verify that the installation progress bar is moving again.

15 QTP 11.00 Installation is now complete. Select [Finish] to exit.

16 Verify the Additional Installation Requirements and click [Run]

17 To install the Microsoft WSE 3.0 Runtime click [Next >]

18 Accept the License Agreement ("I accept....") and click [Next >] then click [Install]

19 Click [Finish] to complete the installation and exit the WSE wizard.

20 The Internet settings runs automatically.QuickTest Professional License Installation

21 Verify the options presented - either Seat or Concurrent license. Ours is a Concurrent license. Select the Concurrent license radio button and click [Next >]

22 Enter the server location and click [Check Connection] to verify the license connection, then click [Next >].(If the server location is unknown or incorrect, exit the wizard and verify the details with your QC Server admin)

23 Click [Finish] to complete the license installation and exit the wizard.

24 Click [Close] on the Additional Installation Requirements dialog to exit.

QTP HP ALM Add-in Installation25 Download the QuickTest Professional add-in.

(Log in to HP ALM; select Help | Add-ins Page. Click on More HP ALM Add-Ins. Click on the QuickTest Professional Add-in link)

Double-click [QuickTest_Add-in_for_ALM-QC.msi] to start the installation.

26 Click [Next >]

27 Accept the License Agreement ("I Agree") and click [Next >]

28 Enter your Name and Organization details and click [Next >]

29 Leave the Installation Folder as the default option and click [Next >]

30 Click [Next >] to confirm and begin the installation

31 Click [Finish] to complete the installation.

32 Reboot your workstation (not absolutely necessary, but as a precaution)

33 Configure QTP to connect to ALM:- Launch QTP- Go to File | ALM/QC Connection- Enter your server details and check “Reconnect to

server on startup”- Enter your login and project details, authenticate

and log in34 Configure QTP to run with ALM:

- Launch QTP- Go to Tools | Options- Click on Run- Select “Allow other HP products to run tests and

components”35 Configure QTP to connect correctly with TAO by creating

an application area:- Launch QTP- Select New | Application Area…- Make sure that the SAP and Web add-ins are

selected- Make sure that the Function Libraries section is

empty; no library should be declared.- Save the application area with the name

“_SAP_Doc”Install SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization (SAP TAO)

36 Double-click [SAPTAOSetup.msi]. In the first screen of the setup wizard click [Next >](Windows XP and 7 screenshots to compare)

37 Leave the Installation Folder as the default option and click [Next >]

38 Click [Next >] to confirm and begin the installation

39 Click [Close] to complete the installation.

40 Installation of components is complete. You should now have a number of shortcuts on your desktop (HP ALM Explorer will need to be manually copied to your desktop)

41 Close down SAP TAO and rerun the TDConnect.exe file; reboot.

Configure SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization (SAP TAO)

42 Verify the location of any shared SAP TAO workspace and map Network Drive in Windows Explorer, mapping (e.g):Drive: W:Folder: \\TAO\Project\Test_TeamDestination should include the shared SAPTAORTL folder

43 Double-click the SAP TAO icon to open the application

44 Select the correct instance of Solution Manager and log in using your SAP Sol;ution Manager user name and password.

45 On the SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization screen, seelct Configuration (top-right corner)

46 From right to left on the tabs:[RTL] tab. Select the Wizard icon and follow the prompts, selecting W:\SAPTAORTL as the runtime filepath.

47 [Others] tab - leave as default

48 [Expert] tab - check the [Use an alternate path to look for the saplogon.ini file] checkbox, and set the alternate path to be C:\WINDOWS\ - leave the rest of the configuration as default

49 [PFA] tab (Note: PFA paths are specific to your setup in HP QC/ALM – verify and match between TAO and QC/ALM) - amend [Test Folder Path] to Subject\PFA - amend [Path to Default Components] to Components\SAP R3 - amend [Data Folder] to W:\SAPTAORTL\DATA\ANZ\Design\PFA - check the [Record Output] checkbox

50 [Log] tab - leave as defaults: ERROR; INFO; INFO; Off

51 [Change Analyzer] tab - Leave as defaults

52 [Consolidate] tab - leave as defaults, but check both filepaths against QC/ALM

53 [Run & Report] tab- leave as defaults

54 [Import/Export] tab - update [Path to imported components] to W:\WORK\IMPORT - update [Local Components Path] to W:\WORK\EXPORT

55 [Inspect] tab - update [Component Path] to W:\WORK\CREATE

56 Press [Save] to save all settings

Connect SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization (SAP TAO)

57 On the main screen select [Connect] to manage the connections to both HP ALM and the SAP system under test

58 On the System Connections screen check the HP ALM URL is correct (only enter the URL up to the “qcbin” part), and enter your user ID and password. Select [Login] to connect to HP ALM, then select the correct Domain and Project and select [Connect to Project]

59 Select the SAP system under test. Enter the relevant client, User ID and password details and click “Test SAP Connection”

60 Launch ALM, QTP, and SAP GUI for the client under test. In TAO on the main screen select [Self-Check] to check your settings and connectivity

61 If there are errors in the self-test, debug each error one by one.Note: It is best to log in to both QC/ALM and the SAP client under test before starting the self-test, as occasionally you’ll receive errors due to timeouts.
