My dear parishioners, This week we celebrate Ash Wednesday. The list of services is in the bulletin. Last week I wrote about fast-ing and abstinence. This week, I would like to encourage our parish to use Formed.org as part of their Lenten jour-ney. As a reminder “FORMED, a revolutionary online platform, provides access to the best Catholic audio talks, movies, eBooks, and video-based studies from trusted providers like Augustine Institute, Ignatius Press, Catho-lic Answers, Sophia Institute Press, St. Paul Center, and more! FORMED presents a tremendous opportunity to help the overwhelming majority of Catholics change the way they consume media and develop a daily habit of faith formation and prayer.” We now have 108 parishioners currently regis-tered for Formed.org and I hope that more will register for Lent. Formed.org is offering a special Lenten service where you can receive an email each day to give you a chance to watch, read and reflect for 10 minutes a day. There is a video from Bishop Donald Hying, a passage from the Catechism and a chance to reflect on how God’s truth applies to your daily life. Each week in the bulletin we offer options to look at what Formed.org offers. May-be you can decide to watch one of the many educational videos available. Forgiven would be a good one for Lent, to learn more about the power of confession. Beloved is a wonderful series on marriage or Reborn to appreciate deeper the sacrament of baptism. A Lent to Remember com-municates God’s invitation to each one of us to come ex-perience his indescribable love this Lent. There is an ex-cellent Scripture study from Dr. Scott Hahn’s Journey Through Scripture: “The Bible and the Virgin Mary is a dy-namic twelve-part video series that beautifully explains the Catholic truths about Our Lady, showing how she has been a part of God’s plan to bring salvation to the world since the beginning of time. In addition to explanation of dogmas, answers to common objections, and demonstra-tion of Mary’s presence in the Old and New Testaments, this study discusses Church-approved Marian apparitions that play an important role in Catholic Tradition. It’s sure to help Catholics and non-Catholics alike grow in an un-derstanding and appreciation of the Mother of God.” These are just a sampling of the incredible amount of content available on this wonderful site. Re-member that those of you with smartphones can down-load the app Formed.org, either on IPhone or Androids. Esta semana, me gustaría animar a nuestra parroquia a usar Formed.org co-mo parte de su trayecto de Cuaresma. PARENTS! Here’s what’s going on at our Youth Night this weekend!

DANGEROUS: a night on our call to holiness When we live in the love of God, are satisfied in Him, and reject worldly substitutes and counterfeits of love, we live dangerous lives. This is also called holiness. By being holy and living differently, we cause people to come face to face with how they are living and to ask themselves “am I living right, am I missing something?” If they are missing Christ and aren’t willing to change, this question makes them uncomfortable and can lead to persecution. Jesus’s sacrificial death on the Cross made holiness available to all. What will we do to be holy? Conversation Starters: 1. How does holiness challenge mediocrity and inspire extraordinary living? 2. What does extraordinary living mean to you? 3. At the Youth Night, we had the teens write their story of how their encounter with God has changed them. Ask your teen to share their testimony with you. In return, you could share yours.

Cuando vivimos en el amor de Dios, nos sentimos satisfechos en El y rechazamos sustitutos mundanos y amor falsificado, vivimos vidas peligrosas. A esto también se le llama santidad. Siendo santo y viviendo diferente, causamos que la gente vea cara a cara como están viviendo y se pregunten a si mismos “¿estoy viviendo correctamente, me estoy perdiendo de algo?” Si ellos no tienen a Cristo y no están dispuestos a cambiar, esta pregunta los hace sentir incómodos y puede llevar a la persecución. El sacrificio de la muerte de Jesús en la Cruz hizo la santidad disponible para todos. ¿Qué haríamos nosotros para ser san-tos? Para Comenzar la Conversación: 1.¿Cómo desafía la santidad a la mediocridad e inspira vivir extraordinariamente? 2. ¿Qué quiere decir vivir extraordinariamente para ti? 3. En la Noche Juvenil, nosotros le pedimos a los adolescentes que escriban su historia de cómo su encuentro con Dios los ha cambiado. Pídanle a sus adolescentes que compartan su testimonio con ustedes.
