My dear parishioners, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, both natural and spir-itual! May the Blessed Virgin Mary protect you and guide you. As a token of our appreciation all the moms will receive Miraculous Medals today. May it be an instrument to remind you of the maternal care Mary provides for us all. The past week, a number of parishioners inquired about my retreat. Quite a few saw my photos on Facebook and wanted to know more. The week of April 25 – 29 I went on my annual retreat to the Monastery of Bethlehem of the Assumption of the Virgin and St. Bruno in Livingston Man-or, NY. The sisters who live in the monastery are hermits who live in separate cabins/hermitages and come together for Mass and prayer. Retreatants can also come up and stay in one of the eight cabins/hermitages that are available for guests. In each hermitage there is a small table for meals, a bed, a small kitchenette with a small refrigerator and a micro-wave, a bathroom and on the second floor is the oratory/chapel. As a priest, I was allowed to have a tabernacle in my chapel to reserve the Blessed Sacrament. All guests must agree to abide by a spirit of silence while on the property, which means no talking in the public areas and no playing of music, etc. For the whole time I did not speak with anyone except before Mass. The only person I really communicated with the whole time was the Lord. I spent numerous hours in my oratory reading the Gospel of St. John and a commentary with it. I would concelebrate Mass each morning at 7:30 and then spend the day with the Lord. I would take long walks around the lake or follow other trails. For meals, I would pick up a cooler bag each day around 4 pm that had my dinner and the next day’s lunch. The food could be heated up in the mi-crowave. I also kept my smartphone off the whole time, so I was not disturbed by calls, messages or email. It was truly wonderful to be free from worldly distractions and focus on my relationship with the Lord. Jesus was ever so good to me on this retreat and reinforced my understanding of how deep his love is for me. I had insights to the Gospel of St. John that I did not have before and I had a deeper appreciation for the beauty of that Gospel. If anyone would like to make a retreat up there, I would be happy to give the information. The sis-ters do not have a website nor communicate with email; they primarily use fax or written letters. Mis Queridos feligreses, ¡Feliz Día de las Madres a todas las madres, ambas natural y spiritual! Que la Santísima Virgen María las pro-teja y las guie. Hoy, como símbolo de nuestra apreciación todas las madres recibirán una medalla de la Virgen Mila-grosa. Que sea un instrumento para recordarles del cuidado materno que María provee por todos nosotros. La semana pasada, unos feligreses preguntaron sobre mi retiro. Unos cuantos vieron mis fotos de Facebook y querían saber más. La semana del 25al 29 de abril fui a mi retiro anual al Monasterio de Bethlehem de la Asunción de la Virgen y Santo Bruno en Livingston Manor, NY. Las hermanas que viven en el monasterio son ermitas que viven en cabinas separadas/eremitorios y se unen para la Misa y oración. Retiristas también pueden ir a quedarse en una de las ocho cabinas/ermitorios que están disponibles para huéspedes. En cada eremitorio hay una pequeña mesa para comer, una cama, una cocina pequeña con un refrigerador y una microonda, un baño, y en el segundo piso hay una ora-toria/capilla. Como sacerdote, me permitieron tener el ta-bernáculo en mi capilla para reservar el Santísimo Sacra-mento. Todos los huéspedes deben aceptar permanecer por el espíritu de silencio mientras estén en la propiedad, cual significa no hablar en las áreas públicas ni tocar música, etc. Por el tiempo completo no hablé con nadie excepto antes de Misa. La única persona con la que me comunique todo el tiempo fue con el Señor. Pase numerosas horas en mi oratorio leyendo el Evangelio de San Juan y un comen-tario conjunto. Concelebré Misa cada mañana a las 7:30 y pasé el día con el Señor. Tomé largas caminadas alrededor del lago o sino seguía otros caminos. Para la comida reco-gía una bolsa isotérmica todos los días como a las 4pm que tenía mi cena y la comida para el siguiente día. La comida se podía recalentar en la microonda. También mantuve mi teléfono apagado todo el tiempo, para que no me perturba-ra las llamadas, mensajes o correo electrónicos. Era verda-deramente maravilloso estar libre de las distracciones del mundo y enfocarme en mi relación con el Señor. Jesús siempre ha sido tan bueno conmigo en este retiro y fortale-ció mi conocimiento de cuan profundo es su amor por mí. Tuve conocimientos del Evangelio de San Juan que no los tenía antes y tuve una profunda apreciación a la belleza de aquel Evangelio. Si alguien le gustaría hacer un retiro ahí, estaré mas que contento para darles la información. Las hermanas no tienen sitio web ni comunicación por correo electrónico; ellos primordialmente usan fax o cartas por escrito. Espero por el día para mi siguiente visita allá de nuevo. Daily Mass A reminder that starting Memorial Day, May 30, we will not

have the noon daily Mass (Monday – Friday) until after Labor Day. This does not affect the 12 noon Mass on

Sundays. We have many open Mass intentions for the rest of the year, therefore the Mass book for 2017 will not be opened

until September.

Save the Dates Deacons Melchizedek and Bristol will be ordained on Saturday, June 4th at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, which you can watch on NetTV, channel 97 on Time Warner cable or channel 48 on Fios. Deacon Melchizedek will celebrate his first Mass here at St. Mary’s on Sunday, June 5th at the 10 am. A small reception and first bless-ings will be available in the parish room after the Mass. Deacon Bristol will return on Sunday, June 19 (Father’s Day) to cele-brate the 10 am Mass. We will also have a reception and an op-portunity to receive his first priestly blessing after the Mass. Please pray for them during this last month of preparation.

El Círculo de Oración Todos los martes de 7pm a 9 pm en el sótano de la iglesia

tenemos un seminario en el Espíritu Santo. Este seminario es de ocho semanas. Vengan todos a escuchar

Un recordatorio para el Día de los Caídos, el 30 de mayo, no tendremos Misa diaria de las 12 del mediodía (lunes a

viernes) hasta el Día del Trabajo. Esto NO afectará la Misa de los domingos. Tenemos muchas Misa abiertas para

intenciones para el resto de este año, así es que el libro de Misas para el 2017 no se abrirá hasta septiembre.

Aparta la fecha Los diáconos Melchizedek y Bristol serán ordenados

sacerdotes el sábado, 4 de junio a las 11am en la Co-Catedral de San José, y lo podrán ver en NetTV, canal 97 en Time Warner cable o el canal 48 en Fios. El Diácono

Melchizedek celebrará su primera Misa aquí en María Auxiliadora el domingo, 5 de junio a las 10am. Habrá una

pequeña recepción y la primera bendición en el salón parroquial después de la Misa. El diácono Bristol regresará el domingo, 19 de junio (Día de los Padres) para celebrar la Misa de las 10am. También tendremos una recepción y la

oportunidad de recibir su primera bendición como sacerdote después de la Misa. Por favor oren por ellos

durante este último mes de preparación.

Festividad De la Parroquia

La festividad de María Auxiliadora es el 24 de mayo. Este año nos gustaría celebrar la festividad ese mismo día. El martes, 24 de mayo a las 7pm, los niños de la Primera

Comunión nos acompañaran a la Coronación de María. A las 7:30pm tendremos una Misa bilingüe especial en

honor a nuestra patrona. Todos los feligreses son invitados a asistir.
