SCH Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

St. Claire HealthCare ushered in the holiday season with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 30, at the main entrance of the Medical Center. SCH President/CEO Mark J. Neff welcomed everyone to the event. Immediately following the ceremony, SCH volunteers served hot chocolate and snacks to staff and visitors.

The tree was lit by St. Claire HealthCare staff members Deloris Franklin (44+ years of service), Rosemary Curtis (45 years of service) and Rhonda Lewis (44 years of service).

The Rowan County Choir, directed by Joshua Hamilton, performed a wonderful assortment of Christmas carols, creating a joyous atmosphere for all who attended.

The nearly 20-foot tree was purchased by the SCH Auxiliary from Hutton-Loyd Tree Farm, and was installed and decorated by SCH's facility management team.

Brittany Blair, APRN Named SCH Clinical Director of OncologySt. Claire HealthCare is pleased to announce that Brittany Blair, APRN, has been promoted to Clinical Director of Oncology.

Brittany spent six years as an RN at SCH, working in Hospice & Palliative Medicine (2006 – 2010) and Oncology Infusion (2010 – 2012) before moving to Alabama to

continue her career in Medical Oncology. During her time in Alabama, she attended Auburn University and graduated with her APRN degree in May.

In her new role, Brittany will provide leadership and oversight of St. Claire’s Cancer Care program as we combine both Medical Oncology and Infusion in the new Medical Pavilion. She will play a vital role as we expand and create a more comprehensive Cancer Care program that serves our community and treats patients in one convenient location.

and go green by signing and reviewing patients' home

health services online. This portal will mean no more

waiting to sign and fax orders and 485s.

DeVero allows physicians to electronically sign orders,

review medications and communicate with St. Claire

Home Health nursing and therapy staff in the field.

to read poorly-faxed paperwork. The goal is to reduce

A Patient Safety Champion team was strategically

selected by peers and senior leadership to attend

St. Claire HealthCare’s master trainer workshop;

Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance

and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS™). The team

will champion TeamSTEPPS across SCH as all staff

journey to achieve zero harm. The workshop was

conducted by KHA staff and provided tools to

teach/mentor on the principles of TeamSTEPPS.

TeamSTEPPS Master Training program is a systematic approach developed by the Department of Defense (DoD) and

the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to integrate teamwork and communication into practice.

It is designed to improve the quality, safety and the efficiency of health care by providing tools and strategies to

cultivate the core teamwork competencies of leadership, situation monitoring, mutual support and communication.

TeamSTEPPS seeks to foster an environment of mutual respect wherein all members of the team feel comfortable

voicing patient safety concerns irrespective of their perceived positions or roles.
