EDITORIAL
Dear Friends,
This season, we bring you “Fête de la Photo”, where we take photography out of the traditional gallery and into the public space. Alliance Française is pleased to partner with prestigious organizations such as Kalakriti, Birla Science Museum, Salarjung Museum, in order to exhibit wonderful photos by reputed French and Indian photographers in the open. And don’t miss the chance to get clicked, watch out for the mobile studio!
Next, a unique event in commemoration of the soldiers of the First World War, with “On Les Aura!”. Like every year, we’ll also celebrate “Fête de la Francophonie!”; this time, a few expatriates will introduce their French speaking countries. At the end of March, it will be an honour to receive in Hyderabad Mr Jean-Claude Jacq, General Secretary of Fondation Alliance Française from Paris.Correspondent of The Hindu in Paris, Vaiju Naravane, will launch her first novel “Transgression” in April.
You will also have the opportunity to watch a contemporary dance show at its best with “Black Pulp” by XIN company from Bordeaux.

Sophie and Emilie, bienvenue! Sophie and Emilie have currently started their internship at Alliance Française. Sophie is from Belgium, arrived last month directly from Seattle and has some experience as a teacher in Brazil. She is now teaching French at Alliance Française. Emilie is from Strasbourg (photo of the city above) and is now working with the cultural department. She is actively involved in organizing great cultural events.

Astrophotography (Thierry Legault, Laurent Laveder & Ajay Talwar): Astrophotography is a specialized type of photography that entails recording images of astronomical objects and large areas of the night sky. Thierry Legault and Laurent Laveder from France and Ajay Talwar from India will showcase their photographs of celestial objects, some playful others simply magical !At Birla Science Centre from 7th to 15th March
Mobile Photo BoothGet a portrait by a professional photographer13th, 14th, 15th March In partnership with Tata Motors, Institut Français and French Embassy, a famous photographer Arvind Chenji will park a Tata van converted in a mobile photo booth and take pictures of people in Hyderabad city. This mobile studio will be at IT Park on 13th March, at a school on 14th March and Salarjung Museum on 15th March. More information on http://hyderabad.afindia.org/or on our Facebook page.

PERFORMANCE ART
This year marks 100 years since the beginning of the first world war (WWI)). To commemorate the soldiers, including the Indian soldiers, who fought in this war, Alliance Française is pleased to present a very
special performance, which includes music, and storytelling with live drawings projected on a screen. Performance by French Writer and Illustrator Barroux and French musician par excellence Julien Joubert, will be held at the University of Hyderabad.
“On les aura !” (Line Of Fire) is the onstage adaptation of a graphic novel based on the diary of a WWI French soldier. This diary, which was found in trash, contains an incredibly rich human and historical testimony: the diary of a soldier during the very first months of the war in 1914. This diary reports the daily life of a man like any other, who suddenly finds himself transported to the line of fire.
Barroux will tell the story and draw a ‘graphic novel’ live in front of the public, on the music created by guitarist Julien Joubert. The story of ‘On les aura’ has been published in France and in the UK. A unique artistic and historical event!

Program of the day:1/ Le français dans tous ses états!From 11am to 1pm (for French speaking public): French is not only spoken in France and is not spoken the same way in different countries. It is through travel that French gained new accents, different cultures and local colors. French speaking people from the whole world will join us to celebrate their mother tongue in its diversity and will particularly focus on a typical French expression from their own country.
2/ Alliance Française Contest: Creative writing in French Thursday 20/03, 4pmThis contest is open to all who learn French (school children, col-lege and University students, Alliance Française’s learners). Can-didates will have to produce a text of about 200 words on a topic given at the time of the contest. Exciting prize: free French course at Alliance Française will be offered to the winner in each category.
3/ Everybody on stage!At 6.30 p.m
Nationals from different French-speaking countries will presnt their own country and culture (Congo, Belgium, Tunisia…). A nice and “live” way for knowing some of the 42 French speaking countries and interacting with French speaking people in Hyderabad.
Through a series of French speaking theatre skits, contemporary French language will come to life with Alliance Française’s students.

Vaiju Naravane, “the Hindu” correspondent in Paris and literary agent for many Indian writers in Europe, will speak of her first novel “Transgression” published by Harper
Collins. She will be in conversation with Professor Jyotirmaya Sharma, Professor of Political Sciences at University of Hyderabad.

Paris, 1960: Jean-Louis lives a bourgeois existence absorbed in his work, cohabitating peacefully with his neurotic socialite wife Suzanne while their children are away at boarding school. The
couple’s world is turned upside-down when they hire a Spanish maid Maria. Through Maria, Jean-Louis is introduced to an alternative reality just a few floors up on the building’s sixth floor, the servants’ quarters. He befriends a group of sassy Spanish maids, refugees of the Franco regime, who teach him there’s more to life than stocks and bonds. The women’s influence on the house brings change... muy rápido!

On music composed by Martin Harriague, Black Pulp combines solos, duos and ensembles in an instinctive, abstract but meaningful dance, that is sensual and exciting. No narration needed here, the work draws
inspiration from American “Pulp magazines” and can be read like a “futuristic erotic fiction to the original score written by Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky on acid!” Co-production Festival de Danse de Cannes. Supported by Made in Cannes, KLAP, Malandain Ballet Biarritz.
“Harriague’s work, which combines the elegance of the virtuosic body and the energy of contemporary life, is pure contemporary dance, dance that is both emotionally engaging and physically thrilling.”Four dancers on stage, a unique show, an occasion to discover contemporary dance at its best.
This very exciting dance performance will take place on the occasion of “DanseDialogue” festival organized by the French Embassy and the network of Alliance Française in India.
