1. Introduction

• Maintaining a projector and keeping its environment clean is necessary in order to reduce the chance of system failures.

• Not maintaining the machines may have following consequences:

Overheating problems

Higher material wearing (fans, pump, electronic parts)

2.Maintenance types and actions

Type A (1 month maintenance actions)

• Remove and clean all projector covers

• Clean all dust filters of the projector

• Check the surface of the lens output side for dust. (it is not needed to remove the lens from the projector). Only clean if necessary.

• Check the porthole (both sides) for dust.

2.Maintenance types and actions

Type B (3 months maintenance actions)

• Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air vents/inlets of the projector

• Clean the cabinet for overall dust accumulation onprojector covers.

• Level verification of the liquid cooling circuit

4.Dust Filters

• The Intake Air Filter • The LAD Filter (Laminar Airflow Device on the Light

Engine)• The Radiator Filter

Page 11: BKSTS Projectionist Training Course- CJA -A03

4.Dust Filters

Filters have following functions:

• Preventing dust contamination• Keeping the air conducts clean and granting a clean

airflow

Not cleaning/replacing filters on a regular basis results in:

• Lower airflow• Overheating of the system• Sudden lamp off• Sudden system shut down• Dust contamination on the optical parts

Page 12: BKSTS Projectionist Training Course- CJA -A03

5.Lamp change maintenance actions1. Check the UV blocker of the Lamp House for dust.

2. Check the Reflector of the Lamp compartment for dust.

3. Visual inspection of the lamp anode and cathode connectors of the Lamp compartment.

4. Check if all cables are still tightened.

Preserve lamp life• Proper operating environment conditions will preserve

lamp life!

• Room temperature: Comfortable room temperature is usually

acceptable. Between 50°F and 95°F (10°C – 35°C).

• Room humidity (non condensing): 20% to 80%.

• External exhaust extraction: Use the “Lamp Brochure” to find the

proper air flow in CFM that is required:

Troubleshooting common issuesProjector does Not Power ON!

1. Check the wall circuit breaker to see if it’s ON.

2. Check the status of the LEDs on the rear corners of the projector.

3. Verify power by looking through the rear grill. LED’s should be blinking orange/green. This

indicates theLVPS has power.

Troubleshooting common issuesLamp Does Not Ignite!

1. Verify lamp hours.

2. Check for interlock failures.

3. For Environment communication failures (Temperatures, Fans RPM), re-boot and try again.

4. If the Alarms field of the Status window shows a LampPower Supply (LPS) communication problem, re-boot theprojector and try turning the lamp ON again.

2. Troubleshooting common issuesLamp Does Not Ignite!

5. Check for an alarm condition.

6. Check Temperatures. If a DMD temperature is too high, the lamp will not ignite. Cool the projector and try again.

7. Ensure there is proper ventilation, air filters are not blocked and liquid cooling reservoir has coolant and is circulating.

8. Listen for a “clicking” noise to indicate the LPS is attempting to strike the lamp. If the lamp does not ignite after the second attempt, check the power level of the lamp

2. Troubleshooting common issuesFlicker, Shadows Or Dimness!

1. Ensure the douser is OPEN completely.

2. Lamp Light output calibration may need re-adjustment.

3. Check the lamp power to see if power is consistent or varying. Try to increase lamp power, if possible. Lamps which are near end of life may not operate reliably at lowest power range.

Cinema Image!

• TPC fails to initialize, re-boot the projector.

• Ensure the lens cap is not on either end of the lens.

• Ensure the lamp is ON.

• Confirm all power connections are still OK.

• Ensure any test pattern other than the full black test pattern displays properly.

• Is the correct format file selected?

• Is the correct cinema port connected for this format channel (i.e., 292-A or 292-B/dual link)? Check Video connections.
