Bishop Manogue Catholic High school, along with our other Diocesan schools, are true treasures to our community. We remain, as always, extremely grateful to those of you whose support enriches them.

At Bishop Manogue, good things are happening. This summer Bishop Manogue was headquarters for Catholic Heart WorkCamp, where teens from all over Northern Nevada and the surrounding areas gathered for a solid week of service to others throughout the community.

Manogue has also been blessed with the presence of a new chaplain, Father Richard Kayizzi. Father Richard hails from Uganda, via Los Angeles, and his open heart has quickly won over Manogue students, faculty and families. Already he has implemented programs to help students better understand the Mass and other key aspects of our faith, and most crucially is providing them a growing number of opportunities to live that faith through liturgy and service. The students’ participation in Quest and Kairos retreats also continues to grow under his leadership and faith formation.

This year, more than 640 young people are finding their futures at Bishop Manogue, enjoying an education steeped in Catholic ideals, and becoming adults who will learn continuously, serve compassionately and lead confidently.

Celebrating 66 years of existence and the legacy and tradition that has become such a huge part of the success at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, makes it a wonderful time to reflect on the past and consider our future as a school and a community. So much has changed about the school since 1948, yet the intangible Miner spirit remains stronger than ever. Your continued support remains stronger than ever as well, and so has the welcoming of new families to our Bishop Manogue family. This past fiscal year reported large increases to our financial support as has the tremendous support for the vision to improve many services and opportunities we want for our students. Our new first-time donors increased as did the amount of participation and donations from the existing

families. You have answered our calls for support, and for that we are grateful. Despite the great fiscal report, we must consider the current economic climate and how that may affect the future of Catholic education, as well as our own sustainability as a private college preparatory institution.

We have new prospects to extend an invitation to participate in our Bishop Manogue experience. We welcome those who are moving into our area and searching for the many reasons, as you did, to enroll your child in Bishop Manogue Catholic High School.

There is no doubt that Bishop Manogue students continue to excel and participate in the many organizations and activities we offer. Bishop Manogue continues to excel academically with test scores above national average and graduates being placed at some of the nation’s finest schools. Our senior class of 2014 earned more than $8 million dollars in scholarship monies and were accepted into 153 colleges and universities.

Our teaching and learning, extra-curricular activities, athletics, arts, and campus ministry continue to appeal to incoming students and their families. And, on campus, renewal has come in the form of improved safety and security measures, the introduction of integrated school-wide Wi-Fi, upgraded technology interfaces, and the addition of a beautiful new nine-court tennis complex. In addition, our enrollment increased by four times the amount of new students as the previous year.

We have accomplished quite a bit over the past year and we continue to make improvements that will be beneficial to our students, faculty and administration. We continue to make it possible for kids wanting to experience Bishop Manogue by offering financial support to those qualifying families through generous scholarship donors and those who donate to tuition assistance. However, there are necessary upgrades and improvements which must happen in order for us to continue to provide our students with the tools vital to succeed in college and beyond. Please be assured, there is so much more we can accomplish with your help and we appreciate your continued support and good wishes. Please feel free to stop in to say hello, and please continue to keep the students, faculty and administration in your ongoing prayers. We are all working hard for the Bishop Manogue community.

Bishop Manogue Catholic High School is pleased to present our 2013-2014 financial statements. Please take a moment to review the information provided. The two pie charts provide a graphical presentation of the activities of the school for the year.

The past year was once again a reflection of the ongoing improvement in our financial performance at the school. We attribute our success to several factors, including conservative budgeting, increased fundraising efforts, and strong enrollment. Significantly, we were able to reduce our debt this fiscal year by $1,050,938, as well as to increase the amount of financial aid per student offered.

Capital improvements were made on several fronts this year, supported by carefully established reserve accounts and a marked increase of in-kind support. These improvements included new security and entry systems, boilers, baseball field turf, ice machines, and the complete redesign of our Knowledge Center – formerly the library – into a state-of-the-art media hub. In addition, construction of the nine-court Wilbur May Tennis Facility was begun near the end of the fiscal year, and completed in late September.

We are very grateful for these improvements, and to those whose support and hard work brought them to fruition. We remain committed to ongoing strong financial viability and continued growth and success of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School.
