love this issue of the Miner Messenger because it celebrates our most recent graduates, our very first graduates, and

every graduate in between.

Our first-ever All-School reunion in June was a big success and we were honored to have so many alumni on campus shar-ing and looking back on their years at Bishop Manogue.

Our Class of 2015 Commencement cer-emony in May was also a memorable eve-ning…sad because we were saying goodbye to 154 amazing young people, and happy because we know they are destined and well prepared for exciting futures.

in preparing my speech for Commence-ment, i asked the faculty and staff to each come up with one word they would use to describe the Class of 2015. needless to say i got quite a variety of answers, just a few of which were: Fun, entertaining, involved, respectful, Friendly, Caring, Thoughtful, Ambitious, inde-pendent, Creative, Compassionate, Service-oriented, inspiring, Faith-filled.

These words say a lot not only about the Class of 2015, but about all of our alumni. They say that Manogue graduates live life to the fullest; that they are doers; that they care for one another and for the people around them; that they know that success is worth the effort; and that they have God in their hearts and in their lives.

That last one means so much. One of the things i love about working at a Catholic school is listening to the students talk about their faith and discuss God in their lives. There are so many challenges in today’s society, but Manogue students know they can turn to their faith for support and guidance.

A graduation isn’t just an opportunity to recognize accomplish-ments and achievements, it’s a chance to pause and take stock before stepping out into the next phase of life. The graduates of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School have left here pre-pared to be leaders and innovators in our community, and to embrace the challenges of future education, careers, family life, volunteerism, faith, and citizenship. They have also left know-ing that they are always welcome back.

The word i chose for the Class of 2015 was Family. Because they and every other alumni will always be a part of and loved by the Manogue Family.

reetings from the Alumni Association! Throughout this is-sue of the Miner Messenger, you will see the many contribu-

tions and success stories of our fellow alumni. We can be proud of these individuals and of all our alumni who achieve extraordi-nary things on a day-to-day basis.

This issue also highlights our All-School reunion held June 20. What a great first-time event it was, and we look forward

to it growing to include even more of you in years to come. Special thanks to Bob Ferrari ’54 who worked tirelessly to gather the alumni of the “Old School” and bring so many dear friends together for the weekend.

His efforts in contacting those earliest graduates is invaluable to the Alumni As-sociation, as one our biggest challenges is staying connected with our alumni base. To address this challenge we began the

Missing Miner campaign last winter at www.bishopmanogue.org/alumni/MissingMiners. Visit the site, and if you know the address or email of one of our Missing Miners, let us know! Just email [email protected].

There are other ways you can help us improve our events and programs, as well. For instance, we would love to have specific contact representatives for each graduating class to help us reach out to alumni, and to tell the Manogue story to prospective students and other constituents. We will also be looking for new Alumni Association Board members in the near future. if you would be willing to help in either of these capacities, please email us at [email protected].

As always, thanks for your continued support of our alma mater. i hope you are enjoying some happy and relaxing summer days!

TrAdiTiOn AwArdst any given commencement ceremony you can expect pretty much the same components. There’s a procession. There’s a notable speaker or two.

There’s the calling of names. There’s a conferral of diplomas.

But every Bishop Manogue Catholic High School commencement has a little something more that we’re very very proud of. At each ceremony we confer what we call our Tradition Awards, where current graduates with family members who also attended Manogue are called with them to the stage and recognized. it’s not at all unusual to have three generations of Miners brought together during this particularly moving part of the ceremony—a tangible mani-festation of the assertion that MAnOGue MeAnS FAMily.

Santos Finds His niche

ast April, nevada boxer and 2011 Bishop Manogue graduate Jarred

Santos stepped out of the ring as the 132-pound national Collegiate Boxing Champion. Finding his father Herb San-tos, Jr. ‘81 in the crowd, Jarred embraced him, and uttered the words, “We did it, dad. We did it.” Santos experienced pure joy that day, not only because he beat his opponent in the ring, but also because he beat the opponents within himself.

For years, Santos had carried a feeling of insecurity, and says he began high school lacking confidence and afraid to branch out.

“i was nervous to be around all the other Catholic school kids,” Santos said. “i wasn’t very popular at Our lady of the Snows and i knew i wasn’t going to be very popular at Manogue either, so i just tried to get through it the best way possible.”

One way he coped was adopting the role of class clown--pizza delivered to class,

inappropriate doodles on the whiteboard, well-time sound effects. These theatrics—and more—made Santos an entertaining part of the Manogue lore.

“As his teacher i would have to tell him, ‘Mr. Santos you need to come in with your shirt tucked in and be ready to go,’”

said former Manogue dean of Students Bri Thoreson. “Without fail he would just have a big grin and always had something funny to say. i could always count on Jarred to make me smile.”

But for every light-hearted story, there was another more serious. Fights outside of school, lack of motivation for academics, and a negative attitude had Santos’ future in doubt.

“i just liked being a smart aleck,” Santos said. “There were a lot of times i got nervous that i was going to be kicked out and i knew my dad wasn’t going to be ok with that. it took a toll on him, and he has some gray hairs that he wouldn’t have right now if it weren’t for me.”

But then, Santos found something to motivate him. He found it in the ring.

He expressed an interest in boxing, so his father called in a couple of favors and midway through high school, Santos began practicing with the nevada boxing team. Once Santos learned the tricks of the trade, success came naturally.

“Jarred sparred for the first time and i get a call from the coaches,” said his father. “They told me that the kid he was sparring quit. Jarred gave the kid such a beating that he’s no longer boxing for

unr. They told me that they thought Jarred was special and he could do some special things.”

The “special things” the coaches saw in Santos came to fruition for him in a big way this year: He won the 2015 national Collegiate Boxing Champion-ship, was named to the All-American Collegiate Boxing Team, was chosen as the most outstanding fighter of the 2015 national Collegiate Boxing Champion-ship Tournament, and will be inducted to the nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in las Vegas as the 2015 Amateur Fighter of the year.

Santos finished his college career as a three-time All American and three-time Western regional Collegiate Boxing Champion (2013, 14 and 15), and with four trips to the Collegiate Boxing national Tournament where he was a bronze medalists in 2013, a silver medal-ist in 2014, and a gold medalist in 2015. This kind of success was unimaginable to Santos before boxing.

“All throughout high school i thought i would just be breaking rocks for a living, or that i would get locked up,” Santos said. “i never pictured myself as a businessman or being successful. i thought i was the bottom-of-the-barrel type person, and i’ve grown out of that. i’ve learned to expect more of myself.”

Boxing not only helped Santos recognize success and expect it from himself, it also helped him quell some of the anger that plagued him when he was younger.

“Boxing taught me to keep my compo-sure,” Santos said. “i’m not going out and fighting people anymore because i don’t

have a chip on my shoulder. i don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Boxing saved me from becoming what a lot of people thought i was going to become.”

Set to graduate next december with a degree in art and a minor in psy-chology, Santos plans to continue to participate with the boxing program as a coach, and to pursue his interests in counseling children.

“i want to help kids like me and kids that are worse than me in the sense that they think they won’t amount to anything,” Santos said. “if you put their mindset in being good and focused on a goal that can be accomplished, they can become some of the best people. i want to focus

on helping people, especially kids. That’s important to me.”

Santos attributes his success to the foun-dation Manogue gave him.

“Manogue helped with my morals and val-ues,” Santos said. “i have some friends that have done some things that i would never do to somebody. That’s the little difference in having religious morals and values and seeing people who don’t have them.”

Jarred Santos’ success is one that the Bishop Manogue community can be proud of. With his boxing career at a close and his future on a positive path, it’s easy to look back and say that his life played out according to a plan: the fight inside him leading to boxing, the doodles leading to an art degree, and the determined trouble-making leading him to work with troubled children. But hindsight is 20/20. Santos had to overcome his own demons to get where he is today. As his father said, he had to “find his niche” and when he did, everything else fell into place.

Neil Patrick Healy is a friend and classmate of Jarred and they were both frequent visitors to the office of Ms. Thoreson. Neil is currently studying abroad in San Sebastián, Spain and is set to graduate next May from the University of Nevada Reynolds School of Journalism as a Communications Major. He hopes to work in sports journalism.

LEADERSHIP.LEADERSHIP according to Merriam-Webster

1. the action of leading a group of people or an organization;

2. the state or position of being a leader;

synonyms: guidance, direction, control, management, superintendence, supervision

LEADERSHIP according to Bishop Manogue

1. The action of creating a fun and engag-ing school environment that values all members, while simultaneously reach-ing out to help those in need and make the world a better place;

2. The state of being positive, proactive, creative, involved, and very very busy;

synonyms: ambassador, party planner, role model, cheerleader, philanthropist, hot dog server, decision-maker, sign painter, door-deco-rator, etc., etc., etc.

ehind the scenes of just about everything that happens at Bishop Manogue is a hard-working band of sophomores,

juniors, and seniors known collectively as Manogue leadership. They are en-rolled in a leadership Class, but put in a whole lot more time—anywhere from 40 to 100 hours per school year depending on their role—outside of the classroom creating and supporting an eclectic assortment of projects. in 2014-15 alone those projects included Homecom-ing, four blood drives, Socktober, the Ambassador Program, Student Council, spirit rallies, the Sierra Vista Christmas Party, dude Be nice, Winterfest, the annual dodge Ball Tournament, Prom, Mardi Gras, Hotdogs for the Homeless, Mr. Manogue, and more.

Besides creating a lot of Manogue magic on campus, our leadership students have been successful throughout ne-

vada. Brooke daly ’16 was elected Vice President of the nevada Student Coun-cils Board, the state’s second highest office for a student council officer. Our leadership group also walked away from the 2015 leadership State Conference with an impressive set of awards includ-ing Academic State Champion (third year straight), the Silver Star award for excellence, and the Wild West award for regional excellence.

And while these kids are all about giv-ing, what they gain in return is not lost on them.

“i have learned how to work in groups better,” said Alyssa Soule ’17, “and i learned how to stay positive through adversity.”

recent graduate Ashley Frolich agrees that leadership has given her some valu-able tools for whatever comes next.

“it has made me more open to new ideas and it has taught me that everyone is different. And accepting that fact is key to life.”

The leader of these leaders is Jimmy Gleich. Gleich has been a faculty member in the english department for the past four years, and leadership Advisor for the past three. We recently talked with Gleich, to find out a little more about leadership at Bishop Manogue.

BMCHS: What types of kids do you need for a good leadership crew?

Gleich: Hard-working. Selfless. Students who put the needs of their classmates above their own. Hard-working is the key though—leadership eats up lazy people. you won’t make it in leadership if you plan on trying to coast by.

BMCHS: Are all leadership kids outgo-ing, extroverted, overachievers or is there a way for anyone to lead?

Gleich: not every leadership kid needs to be like that. They need to be passionate about Manogue and excited to make the school a better more fun place. There is a place for all personalities in leadership. As long as we all share the common vision of what we are doing it really doesn’t matter.

BMCHS: What quality or qualities are common to most of them?

Gleich: They are usually as crazy as me. Honestly, they love their school. if you don’t love this place you will never be a good leadership stu-dent. Finally, the most important piece is that all leadership kids must embrace the fact that they will have glitter in their hair pretty much every day.

BMCHS: How do you see kids change after they’ve been part of leadership?

Gleich: They realize how much goes into making the events we run go well. They get to see all the moving parts of the school that are necessary to make it run. They begin to understand how their peers think, how their teachers think, etc.

BMCHS: How have they changed you?

Gleich: each year is different, each group leaves a mark on me. While i love to see them succeed and achieve, i really miss them when they are gone.

BMCHS: Best project of the past year?

Gleich: i love Mr. Manogue. We raise tens of thousands of dollars for charity and we put on a show that everyone can come attend and have a blast at.

BMCHS: new things you’ve done this past year?

Gleich: dude Be nice was a cool project and doing a Month of niceness as part of it was a lot of fun. Students recogniz-ing other students for simply just “always being nice” to them was awesome to see in a high school. not sure that happens anywhere but the movies.

BMCHS: is the future of the planet in good hands?

Gleich: This generation of kids gets a lot of bad press, but i think there are enough good ones out there who are going to make sure that the world stays on a good course. i know the ones that leave my program after four years are absolutely ready to change the world.

“[Leadership Class] has made me more open to new ideas and it has taught me that everyone is different. And accepting

that fact is key to life.”— Ashley Frolich ‘15

ur All-School Reunion kicked off with a fascinating tour of the campus

by Jim Toner, alumni parent, past Presi-dent, and unofficial historian of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. And although none of those taking the tour went to school in the current building (completed in 2004), Mr. Toner pointed out details throughout that connected the campuses and the generations. From the stained glass and steeple of the original Christ the Teacher Chapel to the painting honoring a lost member of the Class of ’61, the trip around the campus was a trip back in time for many participants.

“Old School” alumni were well-repre-sented at the event, and we were honored to have three attendees from the Class of 1950—Manogue’s very first graduates and a tight-knit clan of 14 students. Their campus was on the site of the Flick Ranch on the east edge of Reno, and Connie Waggoner Sowell remembers the bucolic setting of her high school years fondly. “It was just beautiful,” she said, “with the river running by and the trees.” The ranch house that served as the school is currently slated for demoli-tion to make way for flood planning, but there is a group in town, www.flick-there is a group in town, www.flick-there is a group in town, www.flickRanchproject.com, fighting to have the building moved and restored.

“The School on the Hill”—moniker for the Valley Road campus that housed the school from 1957 to 2003—had good representation as well, most notably in the amazing enter-as well, most notably in the amazing enter-as well, most notably in the amazing entertainment. The Jason King band, fronted by Jason King Roxas ’88, brought their bluesy sounds to our alumni patio, where partiers tapped their toes to the tunes and hunted for “their brick” among the more than 5,000 alumni names inscribed on the pavers.

With good food, good friends and good memories, our first All-School reunion had all the elements of a Manogue tradition-in the-making. Thanks to all who attended, and we hope to see you back next time, with a few friends in tow!

From Manogue's very first graduating class of 1950, to recent graduates, the years were well-represented.

he spirit of giving that surrounds Bishop Manogue Catholic High School is extraordinary, and we deeply appreciate the generosity of so many who selflessly

and graciously give with a rare passion and unique determination for the benefit of our young scholars and dedicated faculty.

Most recently, the enduring gifts of the Trepp Family, Warren, Jâlé and Warren edward, extend deep within our school community and awaken the spirit of our faith family whose goal is to educate scholars who learn continuously, serve compassionately, and lead confidently.

Matthew 6:21 says: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also… a lasting reminder of how many hearts we cherish because of the love shown toward our school community. THAnK yOu!

endowmentsendowments represent money or other financial assets that are donated to nonprofit organizations with the intent to invest the funds so that the principal amount is kept intact while the invest-ment interest income is available for use. This allows for the donation to have an impact over a longer period.

Annual FundBishop Manogue’s Annual Fund is made up of operating gifts from Manogue’s loyal alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends. These contributions benefit students by paying for financial aid awards, computer and lab equipment, capital improvements, etc. Consistent giving through this annual campaign is critical to the continuing advancement of the school’s objectives.

securitiesSecurities can provide a significant benefit to both parties. When you give appreciated securities that have been held longer than one year, you may be entitled to a charitable deduction on your income tax for the full fair market value of the securities. you may also be able to defer or completely avoid capital gains tax on the securities, depending on the type of gift. To ensure your donation is properly credited, please contact your task adviser before you make the gift.

Personal PropertyWe welcome many kinds of personal property which may be used in the mission of our school, including art, antiques, and valuable household items. The develop-ment staff will be happy to help determine whether Manogue can accept a specific gift.

real Propertyreal property donations include the transfer of real estate, including raw land, rental properties, commercial property, farms, and private residences. Some gifts require appraisal or advance approval, so please contact the development Office for more details.

Planned GivingPlanned giving, such as bequests or charitable trusts, can be an advantageous way to take care of yourself And ensure the long term viability of Bishop Manogue Catholic High School. Planned giving involves establishing a future gift through your financial and estate plans.

will or living Trustyou can include a provision for Bishop Manogue Catholic High School in your Will or living Trust. The amount left to the school can be expressed as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the assets to be given.

retirement PlansA retirement plan can be a tax-efficient and simple way of including Bishop Manogue in your estate plan. The best method is to name Bishop Manogue as a primary or secondary beneficiary on your plan’s beneficiary designation form. The tax advantage stems from the fact that most retirement plans are subject to income taxes—and possibly estate taxes—if left to an individual beneficiary; however, a charity that is named as the beneficiary does not pay income or estate taxes on the distribution.

life insuranceyou can make Bishop Manogue the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, and your estate will receive a charitable deduction from estate taxes for that gift. you may also, under certain circum-stances during your lifetime, make Bishop Manogue the owner of a life insurance policy, and receive an income tax charita-ble deduction for a portion of the policy’s face value. Please contact your tax advisor to learn more.

Timeless B.A.S.H.” was held at Bishop Manogue on

April 25, 2015. This year’s event featured mobile and online bidding, a new cocktail hour layout, and a wine toss, in addition to the traditional dinner, auction, and student entertainment.

B.A.S.H. is Bishop Manogue’s annual fundraising gala, and all proceeds benefit our Tuition Assistance program. On aver-age more than half of our students receive some kind of financial aid, and this event raises the funds that support these schol-ars. Through your incredible generosity, B.A.S.H. 2015 raised more than $140,000 for Tuition Assistance. Heartfelt thanks goes to the entire Bishop Manogue family for giving the gift of education to so many young people. you answer the call again and again, and it couldn’t have come at a better TiMe!

Be sure to save the date for our next B.A.S.H. — April 9, 2016!

Welcome BackWe got a real treat in March, when Joey Walsh, Class of 2009, visited and spent some time addressing each of the senior Religion classes. Walsh recently finished his third year of seminary with the Diocese of Reno. He talked to students about his vocation to the priesthood, shared some of his experiences as a student at Manogue, and described his life and current studies at Mt. Angel Seminary in St. Benedict, Ore.

Four Out of Six!For the fourth time in the past six years, Bishop Manogue has won the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association’s (NIAA) Award of Excellence in Academ-ics, Athletics and Citizenship. The NIAA considers the Award of Excellence to be the top overall sports honor.

Academic Championships in 14 sports/ac-tivities—Football, Girls Cross Country, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Volleyball, Girls Bas-ketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Skiing, Boys Golf, Baseball, Softball, Girls Swimming/Diving, Girls Track and Field, and Leader-ship—helped us earn the title, along with the not-shocking-to-us fact that the Miners did not have a single coach or player ejected all year… as it should be. Congratulations athletes, coaches, and parents for once again getting the IMPORTANT stuff right.

Mr. ManogueThe Mr. Manogue competition just may be our favorite new tradition-in-the-making: it’s fun, it’s funny, and it’s for a good cause! Jeff Thompson of KOLO TV hosted this year’s competition among the

12 hopefuls, who not only proved to be phenomenal entertainers, but also phe-nomenal fundraisers, bringing in nearly $24,000 for local charities. At the end of the evening, Scott Hinxman, was crowned Mr. Manogue, with Bobby Yarhi chosen as our Mr. Congeniality.

Trekking Teacher IVFor the past four summers, Bishop Manogue French teacher Leslie Raggio Righetti, aka Madame R., has used an ambitious hiking challenge to help gather pledges from friends and supporters for the school’s tuition assistance program. Her goal, other than the end of the trail, is to help students who want to attend Bishop Manogue make that dream a reality.

So far, she’s tackled El Camino de Santiago, the John Muir Trail, and the Tahoe Rim Trail. This year’s destination? Portugal, where she walked the 383-mile Camino Portuguese. The route took her from Lisbon to Santiago along the Atlantic coast. She traveled solo, but shared the journey literally with fellow pilgrims, and figuratively with those who have donated to her cause. If you’d like to give, just visit www.bishopmanogue.org/donatenow, and choose “Trekking Teacher” from the Funds dropdown menu.

Skate for ChangeStudent Jordan Dicus has started a Reno branch of Skate for Change . AthleticsIt was another amazing ski season for Bishop Manogue. The boys team won the State Championship Combined Title for the third year in a row, and the girls took a close second in both the Giant Slalom and the Combined. Congratulations to all our skiers and a HUGE thank you to Coaches Trabert and Gant who have done such an amazing job.

Boys Golf also had a stellar season, winning the State Championship by 18 strokes after dominating the northern competition throughout the season. With some strong underclassmen, the team has high hopes for continued success, despite graduating five experienced seniors: Karl Beidle, Harrison Holetz, David Larragu-eta, Stephen Osborne, and Nick Turner. Turner will be going on to play Division I golf for the Army Black Knights at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

Bailey Bright took the Division I Wres-tling State Championship in the 120 weight class. Teammate Max McReyn-olds also had a great showing, placing fourth in the 132 weight class. Con-gratulations to them, to Coach Adam Rutherford, and to this hardworking team for a fabulous season.

We had an amazing diving duo this Spring! Allyson Concepcion took the diving State Championship, for the fourth straight year, while fellow senior Makenzie Caufield was second. Concep-cion will be attending the University of New Mexico on a full ride scholarship for diving, and Caufield will dive for the University of Utah, a Pac 12 school.

This summer, we received a beautiful gift from Cathleen Manogue (Dougherty) Cockrum. Cockrum is the great-great-great grand niece of our namesake Bishop Patrick Manogue, and has donated his 1878 Steinway Victorian upright piano to the school.

The Bishop, it seems, was very accomplished. He not only spoke more than 10 languages, but also played several instruments, including violin, guitar, organ, banjo, and piano…THIS piano! It arrived on campus on a hot June afternoon, and was gingerly coaxed out of the trailer and in to Christ the Teacher Chapel, where it will not be merely housed, but played and appreciated.

Cockrum will also be donating the Bishop’s special family Bible, and we look forward to displaying and caring for both of these historical treasures that meant so much to our namesake.

n March 10, 2015, the northern panel of the Nevada Supreme Court heard

two cases on Manogue’s campus.

This rare opportunity to watch the Court live was the brainchild of Manogue social studies teacher Mr. Don Johnson, who worked with the Supreme Court Clerk to ar-range the remote session. Remote court ses-sions occur once or twice a year, usually on university or high school campuses, in order to involve students in their government.

The Supreme Court does not try cases. Rather, they hear appeals based on an error of law or constitutional issue. The first case heard on March 10, was a civil matter involving a man suing a casino for failing to provide adequate care when he suffered

a heart attack on their premises. The man won the case at a lower court, earning $1.6 million for damages. The casino asked the Supreme Court to overturn the lower court’s decision and award.

The second case argued was criminal. The State was going to prosecute a man accused of kidnapping and abusing his girlfriend. However, the victim did not appear in preliminary hearing because she feared her abuser. She later made a statement, but the judge threw out the indictment on a point of law. The State appealed that judge’s decision, asking that the indictment be rein-stated so they could prosecute.

According to Johnson, feedback from students about the experience was very

positive. “Hearing me talk about the courts is one thing but actually seeing the court in action brings it to life,” He added that the Justices even had lunch with some members of the senior class.

“It kind of brought this whole concept of our government to life for me,” explained Lauren Mazurowski ‘15. “I never really thought I would say this but it kind of made me want to be a lawyer. The courts are cool!”

Johnson concurs. “I think this will inspire some of our students to get involved in their government and take an interest in an aspect of their life that continuously impacts them. We have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

irst Lieutenant Wayne Luckadoo was killed on Thurs-day, December 8, 1977 at MCAS New River, North

Carolina while assigned to HMM-261 and flying as co-pilot in a CH-53D helicopter.

That was the official military notice announcing the death of a young man beloved by the Bishop Manogue family. Just how special he was is summed up movingly in the observa-tions of his classmate John Brodeur:

More than a friend, Wayne was an inspiration. Always tolerant of others, and forgiving when others weren’t toler-ant of him. Always open to ideas and to adventures and even risk. Always thinking that things (and people) will turn out to be just fine, even against the odds or when it was tough out there.

When you entered Wayne’s World, it was a non-judgment zone. Never cynical, critical, biting, nasty. Not Wayne, ever. There were times that racial remarks (some directed at him) took a toll, tested his patience and basic belief in human kindness. He did not waver—the twin pillars of

steeled determination and gentle acceptance prevailed.

We lost the gentle soul and tough man with an open heart, big smile, tall stature, competitive spirit, athletic talent. A true American hero, and a friend, a brother, a son, the diligent stu-dent, the gifted three-sport athlete, the strong and proud Marine.

Wayne Luckadoo, truly one of the few.

In Wayne’s memory, and in the belief that money should never get in the way of promise and potential, the Luckadoo family and a small group of advocates joined to create the Wayne Luckadoo Memorial Scholarship.
