Brian Rogers was trained in middle schooling in the UK. He has worked in high schools for 23 years, in the United Kingdom, Victoria and Western Australia. He has taught most subject areas and at various times held responsibilities as a Head of Department, Coordinator of student services, vocational and outdoor education. In 2004 he took up a position with the Department of Education (DoE) as the Principal Curriculum Officer Society and Environment supporting teachers and school leaders in their implementation of systemic curriculum and assessment change. In 2006 he managed a team to develop the Western Australian languages and Society and Environment K-10 syllabuses. Currently he is employed by the DoE as the Principal Consultant for the Australian Curriculum overseeing curriculum and assessment implementation in public schools. Over the last four years he has been an advisor to Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) for Geography and the Cross Curriculum priority of Sustainability. In Western Australia Brian represents the DoE on the School Curriculum and Standards Authority 7-10 curriculum advisory and senior school Geography committees.
