WHAT GIVE RISE TO BICOLS FOLK LITERATURE?
Majestic Mayon Volcano
Most popular was the culture hero Handiong in the epic
Ibalon.
Creation myth- told the beginning o f the universe and the first
man and woman.
Retold stories of how a bird pecked a bamboo from which sprang
the first man and woman.
Combat myth- showed the strength between good and evil

In some parts of Bicol, proverbs and riddles are still
prevalent.
Example:Tigsikan or toast, a four line verse uttered
extemporaneously is a favorite performed during
a wedding reception, a drinking spree, or a simple gathering.
