YEAR 7 CRICKETWhat a start for the Red Ties in their first secondary school cricket match! They played Bishop Thomas Grant school who scored 81 for 3 wickets: captain Sameer Qadeer 7HS took 2 wickets for 12 runs. In reply thanks to a 50 run partnership between Shahryar Khan7CP (32 runs) and Ateef Ullah 7HS (12 runs) saw our Year 7s reach 82 for 5 with 2 overs to spare. Well done to all the players.

YEAR 9 CRICKETPurple Ties faced a strong team from Latymer Upper School but played a good game and although the result did not go in our favour, Latymer had to work hard for the win. The Year 9s were bowled all out by Latymer Upper School for 95 runs (Muhammad Azeem 9SAA scored 29 runs). Captain Mirsab Danyal 9SAA bowled well taking 1 for 8 from 3 overs, Asif Hazari 9DD took 1 for 15 from 4 overs.

FIRST XI CRICKET ACADEMYThe newly formed Cricket First XI made up of the Sixth Form Cricket Academy players bolstered by Blue Tie cricketers have made a promising start to the season. They won their first match against Emanuel and have played against both Kings College School, Wimbledon and Rutlish. On the 3rd May they scored an impressive 155 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs against Kings College School Wimbledon. The hearty tea of sandwiches and doughnuts may have distracted our boys because after the break, the bowling and fielding became a little loose and with KCS 8 wickets down and needing 4 runs to win off the last ball they somehow stole the win. The EBC first XI were rightly

JUDOThe English Open was held at the University of Wolverhampton on the 29th April. Competitors came from as far afield as Greece, Lithuania, Australia, Russia, France, and clubs all over England. Mohammad Alip 13JMO represented Ernest Bevin, and was seeded No2 in his category. He won his contest by a spectacular Ippon by a counter attack, and defeated his Australian opponent to secure his place in the final. He faced his main English rival from Coventry in the final and lost by a penalty to win the Silver Medal; this is his first medal in the English Open, having come 5th last year, so it was a good result. He has another chance to win at this level at the London Open.

Our junior fighters competed at the Northern Home Counties and London Judo Championships at the University of East London on Saturday 6th May. Nine boys participated in the judo competitions, and showed determination, resilience, judo tactics and problem solving. Special mention to Yusuf Lallmahamood 8ML who demonstrated his judo skills & won a gold in his first judo competition and to Youcef Dafallah 7HS who showed great technique by throwing his opponent using a skilful shoulder throw well-executed. We came back with seven medals and the other two boys achieved 5th place, so overall a good day. Well done to everyone who took part. Sensei Mike

YEAR 10 CRICKETThe Year 10s also faced a strong public school team when they played Alleyn’s School. They scored 69 runs but were bowled out 70 for 3.

disappointed with the result from a game they looked likely to, and should have won.On 10th May the result was repeated when the team again lost on the last ball by 4 wickets against Rutlish School in the Cup game. But given it is our first season, the team is playing well at this level.A reminder nets and training is on Wednesday mornings from 7.30am in the sports hall. Mr Smith
