THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND MOSSEL BAY Walk with the Lion
Take a walk with the lion Close to Mossel Bay offers the Zorgfontein Eco & Wildlife Reserve the once in a lifetime experience to walk with young lions. Only 8 persons can be hosted on each excursion. With these twice-a-day walks, which is strictly controlled by guides it is a nice and quite comfortable walk, and you walk slowly so that you can see how the animals interact and play. The young lions do not carry collars or lines - they move absolutely freely. It is a cozy walk, on which one is to recognize, how the small ones move and play with one another. This impressing experience should not be missed. Link to Zorgfontein: www.zorgfontein.com

Dias Museum in Mossel Bay
The famous "Post Office Tree", where seafarers used to leave letters for each other in the 15th
and 16th century is situated here. The history of Mossel Bay is displayed in the Dias Museum
Complex.
Sedgefield Saturday Markets
Our Saturday outdoor
markets are a huge feather in
the cap of a small village like
Sedgefield and embody the
“Local is lekker” South
African philosophy.
The latest local Beer has found a
home at the Scarab market...
come and try it!
Wild Oats and Scarab Craft Village are wonderfu lly successful weekly events that draw locals and
visitors from the length and the breadth of the Garden Route and the new Mosaic Market in close
proximity will only enhance the vibey market environment.
Wild Oats Community
Farmers' Market
Every Saturday, just off the N2 highway, (at the Engen
garage turnoff on the George side of Sedgefield) in a secluded area close to the Swartvlei lagoon,
stalls of all kinds are set out in the sheltering cover of Australian Myrtle trees.
8 | P a g e
Country music plays in the background whilst a
colourful and popular township band, the Eden
Minstrels welcomes visitors at the entrance.
The choice of food is staggering, fresh fruit and
vegetables, fish and meat of all kinds, raw,
smoked, dried, pickled and cooked. Engl ish and
Continental breakfasts, samoosas, sushi, and the
best German bratworst rolls I've ever tasted -the
secret recipe of the stall owner - you'll find them
nowhere else!
Varieties of sweet and savoury pies, cakes small and
large, tasty towers and simple cupcakes , biscuits, jams
and preserves, cheeses, breads made with stone ground
flour, Italian sandwiches, organic olives, nuts,
smoothies and fruit juices are available.
No wonder it is a favourite meeting place for breakfast
for the locals and tourists all along the Garden Route!
Rustic dining tables and chairs in the form of upended
chopped logs and larger ones used as tables enable
visitors to sit down and eat under shady trees.
Many cultures are represented. There are delicious
German cakes and cured meats, Italian breads and
pastas, South African biltong, vetkoek and dried fruit,
Greek desserts, Indian samoosas and chilli bites,
Dutch cheeses –this list is by no means exhaustive.
Then there are home-made herbal soaps, aloe based
creams and lotions, cut flowers, fresh herbs,
indigenous plants, proteas and fynbos as cut flowers
and garden plants.
When you’ve had your fill and the stalls are winding
down, between 11:30am and 12pm, it’s a mere hop and
a skip across to .......
Scarab Village
Scarab Village "red-roofs" the Scarab Paper and Craft Centre and
the Saturday Craft and food stalls. This equally exuberant, and
diverse centre showcases local talent and skills in the art and craft
forms.

Whether it be original artwork, beautiful glassware, mosaic mirrors, flour sack clothing, hand
painted tablecloths, beautiful beaded jewelry, bags, woven hats, hand carved wooden bowls,
decorative animals woven from wire, an indigenous nursery, a children's playground – there’s
something for everyone.
To adorn yourself, your home or your garden, be it useful or
decorative, gifts for friends or family, the choice is staggering.
And should you require some refreshments, there’s plenty
available from light tasty snacks to delicious lunches
Whether you're browsing with friends or family or enjoying an
outing alone free from incumbrances, you're sure to enjoy the
ambiance of the Scarab Craft Village.
The craft stalls close around 2pm but the restaurant remains open for longer until
around 5pm.
