*New* Herald’s Report Requests/Notifications: -New Name/Device/Badge submission forms have been uploaded to the College of Heralds website. Main revision was to reflect the new (less) number of cop-ies required. -Discuss the request for Permission to Conflict with the name of the Baronial "Order of the Blasted Oak" from a household in the Middle Kingdom that wishes to be called "The Sign of the Blasted Oak." --- preliminary results from discussion on the Lochmere email list is that there are no objections to a PtC for the name so long as they consult with our heralds regarding any device for which no PtC will be granted and which must not bring any dishonor to the Order or its heritage.

-Request permission to dispose of:1) Forward ... Into the Past single copy - out of date Chatelaine info2) 1 of 3 copies of Heraldic Templates for the SCA by Lady Alanna Volchevo Lesa as it is incomplete and redundant3) New Herald Packet Check list as it is out of date4) Policies of the Triton Principal Herald as it is out of date5) SCA Officer & Guild Badges as it is incomplete and available online6) Shield blank Doodle sheets (9 shields rounded) 10 copies as we have 22 copies of the pointed shields that are more in line with submission shape7) A Primer of Blazonry: A Visual Introduction to Heraldry as it is only 2 out of 3 pages of an online printout8) Administrative Handbook of the College of Arms of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. as it is out of date

Prior but still open Requests:-Does the populace have any special requests regarding how it would like to see/learn about period heraldic display? Sigrid is contemplating short articles. Where would be best to publish them?-Request permission to look into costs to re-bind the unstable books in the Herald's inventory. --- Sigrid has started to investigate using a whipped binding and re-binding then herself.-When would the Barony like to have a Heraldic Consult table available? Need One month's notice in order to request assistance from Atlantian College of Heralds.-We would also ask that Lochmerii please continue to introduce themselves to the Baronial heralds and provide us with the proper/preferred pronunciation of your complete name.-We would like to request that all individuals that consider themselves Lochmerii, please review their records in the Atlantian OP and check to see that they are listed as belonging to Lochmere, Atlantia. (It shows up below the alternate names on the individual listing.) If it does not, corrections can be requested at http://op.atlantia.sca.org/corrections.php We confirmed the location for corrections with the OP maintainer at the Herald's meeting at Unevent. You can submit your own request for correction, or ask us and we will submit all as one list.

Other Heraldic Activities:-Submitted Court report for the Feast of St. Brigit to the College of Heralds (requested report form updated to send to correct email addresses) and to the Baronial list.-Both Baron Kryss and Magistra Sigrid attended the Baronial Newcomer's and A&S night. Two of Baron Kryss's designs were drawn onto the silk to become new pennons. Several others were agreed to be worked on in the future.-Lady Genevieve (Karen) has volunteered to make an additional Baronial Tabard. Provided her with the measurements and design of a 16th century style tabard. She also took measurements from the current tabard. Will be discussing final designs shortly.-Completed Inventory of the Baronial Herald's boxes Printed materials are here: https://www.librarything.com/catalog/sigridkitty Collection=Lochmere herald -Working on documentation for 4 name submissions and drawing one badge submission. -Sigrid has updated her Pinterest board with examples of period heraldry of many kinds: banners, standards, rolls of arms, illuminations, etc. http://www.pinterest.com/briansdotter/heraldry/ She has also broken out boards for Extant Banners https://www.pinterest.com/briansdotter/heraldry-extant-banners/ and Illuminations of Banners https://www.pinterest.com/briansdotter/heraldry-illuminated-banners/ Looking at ways to best present the data.

Submissions:-We have filed no submissions this month. -Continued research for Baronial Order/Award names/badges.-Baron Aelfgar's badge still pending drawing of possible orientations.-Researching and updating prior research on 4 name submissions.

Court Heralding:

-Mistress Genevieve heralded Their Excellencies into the 12th Night Great Court. No Baronial Business.-Sigrid (with Gunnar Bloodax as second) heralded the Baronial courts at the Feast of St. Brigit on 31 Jan 2015. Court reports have been submitted to the Col-lege of Heralds and the Lochmere list.

The Winter University catalog for Session 89 being held in St. Marys City, MD thanks to the Barony of Dun Carraig, is online for viewing. Registration for classes will be available on 1/10/15.

The last day to register for classes online is 2/5/2015, or you can always register in person the day of classes. If you are having trouble registering online, but wish to take any limited attendance classes, email the Registrar with your wish list starting 1/10/15.

Thank you to all the instructors, the autocrat, and their staff that have worked to make this session possible.

In the month of Adar, the evil Haman, uncle to the Persian King Ahasuerus, planned to have all Jews in the kingdom murdered. Esther, wife of the Persian king, risked her life to save her people by revealing herself as a Jew. Haman and his son were arrested and executed. Esther’s courageous act gave rise to a new festival – Purim. Come celebrate Purim with the Barony of Bright Hills! The tradition of Purim is to wear costumes. As Purim has been celebrated across the centuries, garb and costume from any century within the SCA time period is allowed. If you wish, add some “bling” to your traditional garb: spangles, ribbons, bows, bells, and anything else that makes it silly! Purim is also the only Jewish holiday when men and women can dress as one another…

Martial Activities: As Weather Allows. Marshall-in-Charge: Lord Randver Askmadr (Randy Feltman)

Arts & Sciences Activities: As is tradition, the story of Esther will be told. Our guests are encouraged to become part of the tale by providing sound effects: boos and graggers (noisemakers) when Haman’s name is mentioned, cheers for Esther’s.2. Costume Contest: Most Outrageous Bling. Bling up your garb with the flashiest stuff you can find!3. Passion Plays about Purim: Performers are encouraged to develop and perform passion plays about the events and customs related to Purim. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purim 4. Noisemaker Decorating Contest: Children can decorate a gragger (noisemaker)5.Baronial A & S Champion: Going with the Purim theme, the theme of the A&S competition is "pretending" as Esther "pretended" to not be Jewish in order to become Ahasuerus' wife: a) Something that could be used to pretend to be another thing (ie a costume or mask); b) Something pretending to be something else (ie, like Lady Deidre's tree subtlety made of food).6.Baronial Brewing Champion: The competition for the Baronial Brewer for Bright Hills will be held at the Baronial Birthday celebra-tion. All entries are welcome, be they of alcoholic variety or non. Each entry will be judged on its own merits. Presentation and docu-mentation will play a small part in the judging. Entries should be presented at the table by 11 of the clock at the hall.

Site: Manchester Volunteer Fire Company Social Hall at York St. and Locust St. 3291York St. Manchester, MD 21102.Site opens at 10am and closes at 10pm.

Site Restrictions: This site is wet. No smoking in any building. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after. The building is handi-capped accessible and has accessible restrooms.

Feast Information: Lunch will be prepared by the Archers or the Cooks’ Guild, and Evening feast will be prepared by The Cooks Guild, both under the direction of Lady Sindara of the Falconshield. Lunch will include dairy and consist of Sephardic Jewish (Spain, Africa, Arabia) fare; Feast will include meat and will reflect Ashkenazic Jewish (North, Central Europe) delights. Complete menu will be available on the event website. Please notify the autocrat of any food allergy issues by February 6th at the latest. Advance reserva-tions for feast are highly recommended as we are planning for feast to feed 80 gentles and would need to know if we need to provide for more than that. Only 10 seats for feast will be available at the door, the only good reservation is a paid reservation, please include your member # and expiration date if you are reserving at the member rate. Registration will be open the day of the event from 10am-4pm.

Merchanting Information: Merchants are welcome, and should contact Lady Nem Inghean Dochartaigh (Nancy Feltman) current merchant listings will be on the event website.

Other Information: Children’s activities: We will have the ever popular “children’s corner” and activities will be available through the day. Children will be decorating their own graggers. Parents must supervise their child while at children’s corner!

The Barony of Windmasters' Hill is proud to hold the Tournament of Ymir. We will have Armored, Rapier and Your Armored Tournaments; Target and Combat Archery Shoots; Viking inspired A&S competitions; a 14th Century German Feast and many other fund activities.

Site Restrictions: Pets are permitted only on a leash outdoors only - they are NOT ALLOWED in ANY of the buildings. Fires allowed only in pre-existing fire pits. Swim in the lake at your own risk; no lifeguard is on duty. Alcohol is permitted for those over the age of 21. No original containers. Take your empties and trash home with you. Parking directly by the cabins is prohibited. It is advisable if you have a cart to bring it with you for loading and unloading. You may bring camp stoves for cooking; however, no food may be cooked or prepared in the cabins.

Feast Information: Lord Gaelan MacCuinnegain will be preparing a 14th Century German inspired feast on Saturday eve-ning in addition to preparing a breakfast on Saturday morning.

Merchanting Information: Please contact our reservationist to merchant at our event. We have no additional merchant fee's at our event.

Other Information: Their Royal Majesties of Atlantia will at their will be holding a Saturday Morning Court on the field and Saturday Evening Great Court in the Rec Hall.
