BEHIND THE WALLS ‘ I was in prison and you came to Me ’ Matthew 25:36 Ministering to Inmates and Staff at the Maury County Jail MAY 2015 VOLUME 13, ISSUE 1 WELCOME CHAPLAIN GREG! It is a great pleasure to introduce Maury Chaplain Ministries' new Direc- tor of Chaplains, Air Force Reserve Captain Gregory P. Norton. After 17 years of active service, Chaplain Greg came on board and started work with MCM in March 2015. Greg was born at Eglin AFB, Florida, into a family where most of the men served in the military and he learned that serving in one's community could mean working in the midst of difficult circumstances. As a teenager with- out a father for moral/spiritual support, he made the hard decision to avoid involvement in a gang and to learn to make strong, moral decisions. This led him to be empathetic to others who struggle. VISIT THE JAIL Have you ever wondered what goes on "behind the walls"? THANK YOU CHAPLAIN JEFF BOGGSJeff Boggs recently stepped down from his position as Chaplain of Maury Chap-lain Ministries. The MCM Board of Direc-tors would like to express their deep ap-preciation to Jeff for his faithfulness and dedication in not only establishing, but serving within this ministry at the Maury County Jail for the past 13 years. Speaking of the purpose of this ministry, Jeff recently said, “It [Maury Chaplain Ministries] is about God creat-ing divine appointments for us to provide a pastoral presence to inmates and staff. It’s all about reminding people that

Christ’s love and forgiveness extends even to those that are locked up. It’s sharing the Gospel.” Those “divine appointments” continue here at the jail, and as the ministry moves forward, we are witnessing God’s abundant blessing as He is bringing new people with the heart and desire to love others and share the gospel within the Maury County Jail. Thank you Jeff. We pray for God’s blessing as you continue to serve Him by your witness and your life.

MAURY COUNTY PASTORS' LUNCHEON

by Chaplain Jeff Boggs

Maury Chaplain Ministries hosted a luncheon this past November for the pastors of Maury County. The luncheon not only honored our local ministers, but also presented them with an overview of our ministry at the local jail and how they might join together with us as we present the gospel to the inmates and staff at the jail. Presentations were made by Dawson McAllister, and Sheriff Rowland shared

his vision of an expanded Chaplain's program. Ministry volunteers were also present and served at the event held at First Baptist Church. We received enthusiastic response from those in attendance and were left with the assurance that churches as congregations will be uniting to support the jail ministry through prayer, volun-teers, and finances.

VOLUNTEERSThe Heart of the Ministry

A sincere thank you goes out to the volunteers who worked so very hard to make the recent Pastors' Luncheon a success.

Maury Chaplain Ministries is seeking volunteers to meet a variety of needs:▪ Mentors to work one on one with inmates.▪ Church leaders willing to provide a safe and encourag-ing "home church" environ-ment to released inmates. ▪ Financial partners, (private benefactors, local churches, and businesses) assisting through regular monthly contributions. Please prayerfully consider how God would call you to serve in this ministry.

It was a packed house at First Baptist Church as MCM hosted their first Maury County Pastors' Luncheon
