STEAM Project 1Apple Boats
Aim: To make a boat that floats.
You will need: Apples cut into halves Toothpicks Cardboard Scissors Large container Water
Instructions:1. Cut the cardboard into small sails. These can be triangles, rectangles or squares. 2. Poke a toothpick through the middle of the sail. 3. Attach the sail to the apple by sicking one end of the toothpick into the white part of the apple. 4. Pour the water into the large container. 5. Place your apple boat in to the bowl of water and see if it floats.6. If it doesn't float, change the size and shape of the sail. Keep experimenting until your apple floats. If it does float, try another type of sail and see if that boat floats as well.
STEAM Project 2Turning Milk into Plastic!
Aim: To turn milk into plastic. You will need: 1 cup of Milk 4 tbs of Vinegar Paper towel Strainer
Step 1Put the milk in the microwave for 1 ½ minutes to make it hot but not boiling.
Then stir in the vinegar.
Step 2Stir for 1 minute then
strain the mixture through a strainer. All the clumps will stay in the strainer so really push on them to get
all the liquid out.
Step 3 Transfer the plastic milk to the paper towel and press all the liquid out. Throw away the liquid from the bowl. You can then shape it and colour
it if you wish.
Step 4 Set aside to dry for 2 nights. You can then
use them as ornaments or decorations.
STEAM Project 3Changing the Colour of Flowers
Aim: To make white flowers change colour.
You will need: Food colouring Cups or glasses White flowers
Instructions:
1. Search for some white flowers around your home.2. Cut down the stems of the flower so they fit into your cup or glass. 3. Add water to each cup. You want to fill it up halfway.4. Put 10-15 drops of food colouring into each cup and stir. 5. Add one flower to each cup.6. Leave the flowers in until they change colour. Check on the flowers every 2 hours to observe the changes.

Learning Intention: To make combinations of 6.
Success Criteria: I can make combinations of 6.I can record my combinations of 6 using number sentences.
Instructions:There are 6 balls on the cart. Some are soccer balls and some are basketballs. Use this sheet to work out how many different ways you can make 6 using some soccer balls and some basketballs.

Science Animal Adaptation
