Over 150 community and inservice presentations to service organizations, health professionals,
educators, and parent/family/caregiver groups. Over 30 extended (multi-hour) workshops to area
service providers in professional groups ranging from speech-language pathology/audiology to social
workers, VA Medical Staff, mental health workers, certified nursing assistants, and other health
professionals. The majority of workshops addressed issues of aging and communication behaviors
and/or disorders, caregiving, and aging well, although additional topics include the impact of humor on
health, communication technologies, and others. Most presentations were designed to enhance service
provider knowledge of how to communicate with or serve older individuals with communication
disorders or to empower those living with communication disorders.
