Hutan Kota was first introduced to the public during the 2018 Asian Games, during which the venue was used to host many ceremonies, events and gatherings. During this period, the President of the Republic of Indonesia himself, Bapak Joko Widodo, hosted his guests at the site. Upon successful completion of the event, the Bung Karno Gelora Complex Management Center (PPKGBK) invited Plataran to participate in a selection process to develop Hutan Kota into a venue that could showcase Indonesia’s cuisine, culture and natural heritage. Plataran accepted the challenge, embarking on a rigorous application process in direct competition with various other contenders from Indonesia’s big reputable F&B Groups and judged by a panel of experts. Plataran was chosen as the winner of the selection process and was appointed as the sole and exclusive operator of Hutan Kota, which is now officially titled Hutan Kota by Plataran.

The Agreement signed by both parties was produced under the close supervision and significant involvement of Indonesia’s Government Law Office (Kantor Pengacara Negara) and the Chief High Prosecutor’s Office of DKI Jakarta (Kejaksaan Tinggi DKI Jakarta). This was consistent to the Plataran’s three core principles - transparency, accountability and responsibility – which were upheld throughout the process.

Hutan Kota by Plataran integrates fundamental concepts that are core to Plataran’s identity; the celebration of Indonesia’s natural, cultural and culinary heritage. This is embodied in three distinct compounds, each representing Indonesia’s History, Present and Future. In alignment with its tagline - Light of Nusantara – it is hoped that Hutan Kota by Plataran will provide an illuminating gateway to Indonesia, be it for citizens, travelers, country leaders or international friends of the government.

Covering an area of 3.2 hectares of lush greenery and with a total capacity for up to 2,000 people, Hutan Kota by Plataran comprises three main areas, each of which has been carefully and thoughtfully designed: Plataran Tiga Dari; Melati Glass House; and Pidari Coffee Lounge – with its own rooftop. The project were conceptually designed by Plataran team, and then translated

into architectural drawings by the legendary Hadiprana Design Consultant. With this unique configuration, the venue is perfectly suited to MICE functions (weddings, exhibitions and corporate events), in addition to being an elegant venue & dining space. Other facilities include, Plataran Tembok Ekspresi, Plataran Pet Playground, Majapahit Tribute Park, Plataran Putri Dewi Amphitheater, Nusantara Exhibition Plaza, Pancasila Pond, Plataran jogging track, basketball half cage court, and mushala.

Strategically located on the Sudirman side of the GBK Complex, Hutan Kota by Plataran is easily accessible via private and public transportation (such as the MRT and TransJakarta). The venue also benefits from three main access points, offering smooth and convenient connectivity with the surrounding area, even for pedestrians. This includes many notable business hubs, the Indonesian Stock Exchange and Semanggi interchange, along with various malls and hotels.

With its central location and lush surroundings, the one and only Hutan Kota by Plataran could be considered Jakarta’s equivalence to Central Park in New York City. This unique, elegant indoor and outdoor venue, located right in the heart of Jakarta, is framed by a panorama of dynamic skyscrapers and lights up like a fallen star garden – a place where visitors can enjoy Jakarta against a spectacular urban backdrop. In addition, this verdant oasis offers a breath of fresh air in the heart of the city.

Scheduled to launch on the third week of December 2019, this Hutan Kota project is about much more than just asset development or operations – this is Plataran’s tribute to Indonesia, proudly made by Indonesians and for Indonesians.
