“Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 1:2 -KJV)
A s we look towards the month of October, our ministry fo-cus is Consecration. This is
the time of the year that we reach up to God in a life of devotion and sacrifice. Consecration simply means to set apart, or to dedicate something for God's use. The key to effective consecration is setting ourselves apart for God's use. We must sepa-rate ourselves from the day to day routine of our busy lives and still away in the presence of God for in-struction, direction, intimacy and enrichment. Consecration is also a means whereby God can fulfill His purpose for our lives. Joshua 3:5 reads, "And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you." (KJV) In this instance conse-cration was a means of preparing God's people for the wonders He desired to fulfill in their lives. I certainly believe that God still de-
sires to fulfill wonders in the lives of His people today. However, we must consecrate ourselves through praying and fasting to provide a means for God to perform them. Consecration is also one of the most effective weapons the Chris-tian has against the attacks and strongholds of the enemy. To illus-trate this point allow me to direct your attention to a familiar story that is recorded in both the book of Mat-thew and Mark. The disciples at-tempted without success to cast the devil out of a young man. They had been with Jesus and had seen Je-sus cast devils out of those who were possessed. They saw how Je-sus approached the demon pos-sessed. They heard what Jesus sa id t o the de mon pos -sessed. They saw what Jesus did to the demon possessed. Unfortunately, their efforts to imitate or emulate what they saw and heard Jesus do were not enough. Jesus delivered the young man from the demons and rebuked the disciples for their lack of faith to get the job done.

CONSECRATION: continued from page 2
After he rebuked them for their lack of faith, he admonished them and generations to come with a very powerful truth. "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." (Matt. 17:21 KJV) The disciples received a very powerful lesson. They learned that in order to have power in the face of the devil, you have to spend time in the face of God! In other words, if you want to get the victory over the devises of the enemy, it will not be by imitation nor emulation, but by faith and consecration! Consecration could not come at a more opportune time. In the midst of a struggling economy, unusually high unemployment rate, and the extreme tension and dissension among our high ranking politicians in Washington to move our country forward, we need to come together in unity and bombard heaven that these strongholds will be broken. In the midst of sickness, disease, war, violence, immorality and injustice, we need to push back our plates and travail in prayer for a visitation from God. In the book of II Chronicles 7:14 God declares, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
We not only need consecration for our nation, but also for the church. If the church is to be an agent that God will use to bring change and healing to our world, we need to be consecrated. We need to be set apart for God, so that God can empower us to advance His agenda of salva-tion, deliverance and healing in this earth. We should all come together and pray that a world-wide revival will break out in every local church with souls being saved and set free from sin, bondages, and strongholds! Finally, consecration not only benefits the nation and the church, but it also benefits us individu-ally. All of us have some issues that may be plaguing us personally and we need God's help to conquer them. When we consecrate ourselves, God reveals his presence, power and provision which will sustain us in times of adversity, uncertainly and perplexity. I repeat, consecration could not come at a more opportune time. Let us come together for a time of consecration for our nation, for the Kingdom and for ourselves!

O ur Annual Mother’s
Board Service was
absolutely wonder-
ful! This glorious event
took place on Sunday, Sep-
tember 25th at 4:00 PM.
Mother Ophelia Turner, our
outstanding and faithful Church Mother, was
the chairperson and coordinator for this event.
The theme was “Keeping the Spirit of Unity”.
(Ephesians 4:3) This theme correlated with
our church theme for the month of September,
which was Unity. The special guest speaker
for this year was Evangelist Martha Hogue
from Greater Holy Temple Church of God in
Christ where Superintendent Lamont Lenox is
Pastor.
Early in the service the Mistress of Ceremony, Sister Christine Jones, shared a very encouraging testimony
about how the enemy will try to tempt you. She told how she had been a little troubled about all her bills
being paid for the current month. She stated that the enemy tried to tempt her not to pay her tithes and use
her tithe money to pay her bills that were due. She stated that she refused to give in and yield to the enemy,
she paid her tithes. While listening to the pastor’s morning message entitled “No More Walls”, she thought
about the struggles that she had being going through. During the late hours of the night, the enemy talked to
her and caused her to begin to worry and fret about a wall of unpaid bills that she didn’t want to pay late
and accumulate late fees. She began to think about other obligations she had. A thought came to her to
check her book where she jots down her bills as they come in each month. After looking over the list and
seeing that all the bills were checked off as being paid, she went through her check register again, just to
double check to make sure there were no mistakes. After double checking her list she realized that ALL the
bills had been paid and there was some money left over! She let us know that God will knock down any
walls that are in your way, if you do what he tells you to do! She gave the Lord what He was due, and He
took care of her. God is a faithful!
Evangelist Martha Hogue delivered a powerful and insightful message
that was based on our theme. The title of her message was “Keeping the
Spirit of Unity in the Church”. Evangelist Hogue explained that gang
members, and people in the world have unity, so it’s important that we
focus not just on keeping the Spirit of unity, but Keeping the Spirit of
unity in the church. She talked about Paul's writings in the epistles. Paul
was in prison and had heard about what was going on with the Jews and
Gentiles. He wrote to the people to let them know there was only one
church. Paul let them know that Christ died for everyone!

I t has been nearly a decade since the mantle of leadership has fallen to Pastor Michael and First Lady Anastasia Richardson. The Bible reflects the fact that God hand picks and prepares those whom he
calls to a great work. He gifts them and gives them a mission and a heart to work in the Kingdom. Two-thousand eleven represents the eighth year of leadership by Pastor and First Lady Richardson. Eight represents “new beginnings”. In 2011, many are in trepidation about the future, but Emanuel has been challenged to “Unleash the Manifest Glory of God” in our church and in our lives. Our theme and scripture reference “In Pursuit of the Manifest Glory of God” (Psalms 63)” is a spearhead statement that echoes the sentiments of this pastoral proclamation. Pastor Richardson’s directives have positively impacted the church as well as the East Garfield Park Community. Pastor Richardson’s leadership has not only been realized at the local and community level but also at the District and Jurisdictional levels. God has utilized him in the year of 2011 and has shown His glory through-out the year. Some highlights are:
January revival that paved the way for the glory of God to be manifested throughout the year
Monthly themes aimed at Unleashing the Glory of God in our lives
AIM Chairman of the 1st Jurisdiction Illinois under Bishop Ocie Booker
A prolific and dynamic AIM training session in January 2nd Assistant District Superintendent of D.A. Reed Sr.
District under the leadership of Superintendent David A. Reed
Annual Community Outreach day that provided food, fun, clothing, medical checkups, financial advice and book bags that affected over 350 members of the East Gar-field Park community
Monthly pastoral prayer for the church and community Pastor Richardson’s partner in ministry and life is Evangelist Missionary Anastasia Richardson. Missionary Richardson is not only a major contributor to the local minis-try in talent, time, effort, presence and prayers, but this same diligence is evident by her efforts and accom-plishments at both the District and State levels. She is the Second Assistant District Missionary to Mother Maggie Booker of the D. A. Reed Sr. District. She also is a dedicated and faithful member of the Jurisdic-tional Finance Committee. Missionary Richardson is also creator, designer and webmaster of the 1st Juris-diction of Illinois’ website and email communications. She has recently been commended by the website provider for her masterful and professional work in creating and maintaining a world-class website. That would be more than enough, but she also works wherever help is needed and, my goodness, she is also an anointed and powerful teacher and speaker. I often call them the dynamic-duo, because of their anointed power, inspiration, leadership, love and commitment to each other and the church. This year on Friday, October 21st and Sunday, October 23rd, let us be found following the biblical directive in 1 Timothy 5:17 which encourages us to give double honor to leaders who rule well. God has blessed us with eight years of great leadership through Pastor and Lady Richardson. As we begin year nine let’s con-tinue to allow the Manifest Glory of God to reign in our lives, church and community.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: continued from page 3
He didn't want the people to be bound by the law again because when they had the law, it didn't work. Paul
wanted the saints to know that being circumcised didn't have anything to do with being saved. Just as Paul stated
in the epistles to the people of his day, Evangelist Hogue let us know that we must know in whom we believe.
We can't be tossed about by every wind of doctrine. We must know that our rock is Jesus Christ. We must know
that Jesus died for us.
Earlier in her message, Evangelist Hogue told us how the old saints would reach out to the people as they would
come into the church. The older mothers with wisdom would nurture the saints. This is how the unity of the
spirit would lead them. She also told us that when she came into the church she knew nothing about holiness
and living for the Lord. She said she partied on Saturday night, made it to church on Sunday morning, and then
as soon as they said the benediction, she would head to her favorite tavern. What a life she had! However, she
told us that she thanks God for being saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost today.
I could go on and on, but space will not allow me to share the entire message with you. She left us with a power-
ful word about keeping the unity in the church. An audio of this message is on our website
(www.emanuelcogic.com) under Pictures/Sermona on the Mother's Board page.

MINISTRY ABROAD
R estoration Ministries Church of God in Christ hosted their Annual Women’s Conference on September 16th
through September 18th and our own First Lady Missionary Anastasia Richardson was their speaker for the Sunday morning service. Their theme was “Fresh Anointing.” By Sun-day morning the women from Restoration were already on fire from the last couple of days of their conference. The spirit of the Lord was truly in the church that day. From the praise team, to the choir, to the praise dancers and lastly the speaker, everyone in the place was on fire for the Lord. The choir sang a song entitled “I Can’t Hold It.” After that song the praises went up, the people danced and gave God all the glory. There was a fresh anointing in the place. The highlight of the day was when it was time for the word of God. First Lady Richardson spoke on their theme “Fresh Anointing.” Her text was found in Psalms 92:10. She encouraged the church to work, and pray together in unity. She told us that we have to be available for God to use us. God wants people who are willing to do his work. Sometimes we need a fresh anointing from the Lord while we are going through certain situations. First Lady Richardson told us that sometimes when we have a fresh anointing from the Lord we may go through issues and we might feel like we don’t have enough strength or we may feel like giving up. However, God will give us just a little more of what we need in order for us to make it through
whatever we are going through. In order to lead we have to first follow. She talked to us about the different passages in the bible where the Lord gave his servants a fresh anoint-ing. Her message was encouraging to the women of the church as well as the pastor. I am very glad that I got a chance to be there to hear her bring a dynamic word. I look for-ward to hearing other messages that the Lord gives her to give to His people.

C onsecration is the solemn dedication to a special purpose or service, usually
religious. The word consecration literally means "to associate with the sacred."
Persons, places, or things can be consecrated, and the term is used in various ways
by different groups. A synonym for consecration is to sanctify. An antonym is to
desecrate.
A family reunion or coming together is a time when people should be able to
set aside petty differences, let go of past hurts, anger and disappointments, forsaking all manner of ill
thoughts feelings and actions for the sake of the betterment of the family. It’s at those times that not
much else matters and it doesn’t take a well-executed plan to enjoy one another. At this time all it takes
is an agreement by all parties to willingly agree to work together for the same common goal. To achieve
this some may have to give of their time, others may have to give from their pockets, while yet others
may have to relinquish their desires to achieve ultimate oneness.
During this month of consecration we should be ready to do all of the above in preparation for a
mighty move of God. Zion is calling us to a higher place of Praise and until we answer that call we are in
tow of desecrating God’s will for our lives. The call to consecrate has been a steady call and has come
from the top down. If this were an actual family reunion, one could imagine the Pastor being Big Mama,
from the movie Soul Food; she wanted everyone to come together on the same page, if only for a while,
for the betterment of the family. Who could deny such a call?
We have a sainted responsibility to not only come together but to set aside our
differences, let go of past hurts, anger and disappointments. We must forsake our
plans, comfort and time to give of ourselves for God. Since we are the family of God,
it’s only befitting that we use this time to commune and reunite with Him on a different
level than we do throughout the course of the year.
In accordance with most peoples’ wills, certain actions are required from the
beneficiaries of that will before said beneficiaries can actually draw from the benefits.
Since we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood and joint heirs with Christ, it be-
hooves us to stay aligned with God’s will so as to achieve the greatest of blessings from on high. One of
the greatest blessings we can experience during this time is the spirit of God and His anointing. This
time around let’s not come together so much for the things we want from God, but more for what we can
offer Him in return for His mercy and goodness. If we seek first the Kingdom of God and all of His right-
eousness then all of those things will follow. Be blessed, see you at the reunion!!!

T he First Jurisdiction State Women’s Department held its 23rd
Annual Women’s Workshop on Saturday September 24, 2011 at Reeds
Temple Church of God in Christ. This year’s theme was “Holy Women Focused on God’s Agenda“. The workshop consisted of two sessions that were divided into seven classes which had seven godly women as instructors. I was privileged to attend the class taught by our own first lady, Missionary Anastasia Richardson which was entitled “Friendship in Marriage.” This class was spiritually insightful, as well as educational and fun. The 45 minute session addressed vital ways to ensure that one’s spouse was not only a partner and lover, but a friend as well. First Lady Richardson shared her personal testimony of how she met, was courted by, and after a five year long distance courtship, married her “best friend”, our own Pastor Michael Richardson. She explained that she’d been married for 29 years, 2 months, and 1 week! We were then told that she was happily married and would not change a thing because she had indeed married her “best friend”. We also identified and discussed why friendship is important in marriage, how to keep friendship in marriage, and how to recover if there is ever a laps in friendship during the course of one’s marriage. There were numerous pearls of wisdom shared with the class, and the importance of trust, communication, and spending quality time with one another were stressed. We were further instructed to really get to know our mate, and find out what their likes, and dislikes are. We also were told to learn to cultivate and encourage one another through good times and bad, sickness and in health. We must remember that one’s spouse becoming ill is not a pass for the other to opt out of the marriage. Marriage is to be honored as a union to be broken only by the death of your partner. After the classes reconvened into the main sanctuary, there was a short review from each of the seven instructors, followed by a question and answer period from the workshop participants. One of the participants submitted a question about a concern in her marriage. She shared that though she was open to communicate and wanted to love her mate she no longer felt the same about herself or her mate of five years. It was Mother Eades’ desire that our First Lady address this question. Missionary Richardson spoke to the woman’s dilemma openly and gave her expert
and sound spiritual advice. The participant was told to re-cultivate and enhance what first attracted her to her husband, and to learn to do things together that they would both enjoy. She identified other points that needed to be addressed and said that the changes needed to be implemented now! The participant (close to tears) embraced First Lady Richardson and thanked her. Our First Lady is truly a godly example of what it means to be a good wife and a wise woman who knows how to keep friendship, love and trust in a marriage and make it work!

I s Jesus related to Adam and Eve? Because Mary is descended from Adam and Eve, but in the Bible it states that Jesus is God’s son. - Jessica
I think what you are really asking is, being that Jesus is God’s son does he share any human heritage? The short answer is yes. Jesus is 100% God, but he is also 100% human, thus making Him related to Adam and Eve. Now you are probably asking “how does that work?” Follow me closely. Luke 3:23
states, “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was [the son] of Heli,” The key words here are “as was supposed the son of Joseph.” Since Jesus had no blood relation to Joseph, many scholars believe that Heli was not Joseph’s father, but his father-in-law (Heli being Mary’s father). That would make the remainder of the genealogy Mary’s not Joseph’s. This makes sense because Jewish heritage is often traced through the mother, not the father, because it often represents a truer ge-nealogical track. The genealogy in Luke chapter 3 traces all the way back to Adam (Read Luke 3:23-38). This genealogy confirms Jesus as being 100% man. It also, as you stated in your question, confirms Jesus’ relation to Adam and Eve. He was born just like you and I (probably minus the stable and manger). How-ever, the conception of Jesus was a different story. Mary was told that she would bear the Son of God. Mary wanted to know how she could have a child without a husband. The angel Gabriel replied, “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35). So Jesus’ concep-tion was very unlike ours. God himself, through the Holy Ghost, had Jesus vacate heaven and occupy Mary until she birthed Him in the earth. Gabriel’s proclamation that “that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” confirms Jesus as being 100% God. Paul further makes the distinction in 1 Corinthians 15:45, “And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a liv-ing soul; the last Adam (Jesus) was made a quickening spirit.” Paul previously states in 1 Corinthians 15:23, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” Although Adam and Jesus are related, Jesus came to undo the penalty and condemnation of sin that Adam caused for all men by his disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for us. Because Jesus is the son of God, He was the only one qualified to be a sacrifice for our sins being that only He was sinless. Jesus obediently went to the cross at the re-quest of His Father in Heaven so that we can have our sins forgiven, bodies healed and lives changed. But most of all, he died on the cross so that we may have eternal life in heaven and live with Him forever. Hal-lelujah! Very good question! So it has been written, so hope this answers your question. If you have any questions or comments for “The Bible Teacher” please email [email protected] or write “The Bible Teacher” c/o Emanuel COGIC, 3058 W. Van Buren Chicago, IL 60612.

Glory to God! I thank God for being God. I thank him for His love,
His grace and mercy. God is a merciful God and worthy of the
Glory!
God has been so good to me. He had allowed my nephew David to be
hospitalized for 2 weeks and get up from the bed and walk out. They
said he had lost so much blood that he would need a transfusion,
BUT GOD! No transfusion was needed. All he needed was the
BLOOD of Jesus. The Blood never loses its’ power, It still works!
God has seen my nephew Jonathan through emergency surgery and
an extended hospital stay, BUT GOD! After surgery his pressure wouldn’t go up and his sugar would-
n’t go down with medication, But GOD ! The doctor hugged his mom and said, “This is the best sur-
gery I’ve ever completed.” I told Iris, “You know it was God, right”.
God can do everything but fail, and I thank Him.
On my job God has given me peace in the midst of the storm.
Halleluiah! He has caused my enemy to be my footstool and I
praise Him because he hasn’t finished with me yet! Oh Glory! I
thank Him for his discernment. Wonderful Savior!
I am seeking more of His peace. I am not surprised with His
Goodness for it is a promise of salvation. He is a Good God, He
is faithful and I am grateful.
