See the following webpage for parking information in downtown Harrisburg: http://parkharrisburg.com/

Page 5: AUDITION INFORMATION PRINCIPAL BASSOON MONDAY, OCTOBER … · PRINCIPAL BASSOON MONDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2017 DATE: OCTOBER 30, 2017 ... m. 5 to bar one of [A] bar two of [L] to bar one

Warning: Parking tickets are $30. If not paid within four days, the ticket jumps to $50.

PARKING METERS

Walnut St. is the street directly in front of the Forum Auditorium entrance. Parking meters on Walnut St.

and in the general downtown area are City of Harrisburg meters. These are managed by a private

company working for the city. You can pay for the meters by credit card and cell phone, as well as in cash

and through the Pango App.

Rates are $3 per hour/$0.75 per 15 minutes; for parking that commences AFTER 5 pm weekdays only,

the rate is $2 per hour. In addition, parkers in the Central Business District will be granted one free 4-

hour parking period on Saturday if they use the Pango App and input the code LUVHBG or as the

number 588424. Pango will also waive the fee for this promotion.

Enforcement dates and times are now Monday through Saturday, from 8 am to 7 pm. If the screen is

dark, touch it to wake it up.

Parking tickets are now $30. If the tickets are not paid within four days, the fine increases to $50.

Pay stations have replaced individual parking meters and cover multiple parking spaces.

Remote extension of time: If you pay by credit card at a kiosk, you can extend your parking time by

phone to avoid violations, but there are time limits to some meters:

o orange/black stripe – 30 minutes

o red – 2 hour limit, yellow – 4 hour limit

o green – all day parking.

Credit Cards: The meters/kiosks accept credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express, and

Discover). The minimum charge when using a credit card is $1.50

You will need to enter your license plate number at the kiosk.

You do NOT need to display your receipt on your dashboard.

Meter Rates: o $3.00 per hour payable in 15 minute increments o Meters are color coded to show parking time limitations: orange/black stripe – 30 minutes, red

– 2 hour limit, yellow – 4 hour limit, and green – all day parking. o There are nine (9) handicap parking meters located throughout the downtown area all of which

have a two-hour time limit with a one-hour grace period after the two hours. o Meter operation may be extended up to 11 hours each weekday and Saturday (meters will not

be operated on Sundays and Holidays).

RESERVED PARKING AROUND THE FORUM:

Reserved government parking spaces on Commonwealth Ave. and on the library entrance side of the

Forum are for state employees. These spaces are overseen by the state capitol police, HOWEVER…..

On-Street Non-Metered Reserved Parking for state employees around the Forum after 5 pm: If a

space has a sign that says “Reserved For Supreme Being – Violators Will Be Towed”….you may park

there. You will not be ticketed after 5 pm – you probably won’t be ticketed after 4:00 pm.

Many musicians park along an offshoot of Walnut St. that runs along the railroad tracks and goes

under the State St. Bridge. (See map, below) No one has yet to be ticketed or towed during the day in

this government parking lot, but that is always a possibility. Park there at your own risk. Parking

tickets were $5 last season.

GARAGES:

WARNING: The Forum Place Garage across from the Forum is CLOSED to public parking except during concerts. You can enter the garage and park, but if you do, you will have to pay $25 CASH to get your car out. The closest garage to the Forum Auditorium:

SAVE MONEY WHILE PARKING IN HARRISBURG WITH THESE TIPS – FROM PENN LIVE

Here are some lesser-known parking tips that could save you money: 1. Paying a new multi-space meter buys you parking time in Harrisburg, not a parking space. This is actually one of the benefits of the new system. You can move your car to another space controlled by the new meters and still be covered as long as your time has not expired. 2. Unless you have your license plate number memorized, jot it down or snap a photo of your license plate before walking to the new multi-space parking meters because you will need to type it in. Keep in mind: the closest meter might not be close to where you parked. There is virtually no free street parking downtown or close to the capitol complex so keep looking until you find a meter. Also, if the closest meter is broken, find another one to avoid a ticket. 3. If you park along a street with a 2-hour parking limit, you must move your vehicle off the block after your time is up. If you simply move to another space along the same street, you risk getting a ticket. 4. Parking attendants don't honor a grace period, so sync your watch or return to your vehicle a few minutes early to avoid an unpleasant surprise on your windshield. Parking attendants walk the streets

and type license plate numbers into a handheld device to check the status of vehicles, including how many minutes are left before expiration. 5. If you approach a meter with a dark screen, touch the screen to wake it up

The multi-space meters are rarely off. Parking is only free on Sundays and holidays in areas with multi-space meters.
