The group of Pilgrims established a town the first year. The second year, they elected a town council. In their third year the town council proposed building a road five miles out into the wilderness to expand west. After this proposal the town voted to impeach the council for such a waste of public funds. Once this group had vision to cross the ocean to a brand new world, now they could not see five miles down the road. What happened to their vision? What will prevent us from this happening to us? First, we have to resist the temptation to become self-centered. Surely, God wants us to enjoy the blessings of life, but once we become more about profit than people we start to give up God’s blessing. Second, we must not get lost in the daily grind. In short, we have to keep our eyes on the prize. Our focus must be directed toward the main thing. Not everything we do will be fun or easy, but we have to remember the goal. Finally, we must refuse to simply go with the flow. Even though the status quo is the safest and simplest, we are called to something greater. There is more to be experienced than what was. How easy it is to settle for what is rather than what can be. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” (Proverbs 29:18) Peace and Love, March 2013 Attendance 539 Gunter Ave. 256-571-9000 Worship: Sundays at 6:00 pm Office Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9am-12pm Feb 3 8:30 Service 186 Contemporary 231 11:00 Service 130 Genesis 157 Celebrate Recovery 75 Special Services Total 779 Feb 10 8:30 Service 245 Contemporary 204 11:00 Service 164 Genesis 93 Celebrate Recovery 81 Special Services Total 787 Feb 17 8:30 Service 169 Contemporary 211 11:00 Service 140 Genesis 78 Celebrate Recovery 58 Landing 43 Downtown Chapel 104 Youth Trip 28 Total 1034 Feb 24 8:30 Service 178 Contemporary 239 11:00 Service 146 Genesis 126 Celebrate Recovery 78 Landing 40 Downtown Chapel 120 Emmaus 2 Total 929 539 Gunter Avenue Guntersville, AL 35976
