When I sat down and put a date on this article, it really sank in that this year is almost gone! Where did it go? If you find out, please let me know... That means it’s time to plan for next year! I always sit down around this time and set dates for our many activities for the following year. Of course, big events like campaigns and such are planned several years in advance. Many others have been in the works or process, for weeks or months, but in December I put them on paper and make sure, for the next 12 months, things are ready to go. In the next few weeks, you will be able to look on page two for a list of events that will take place in 2017. I like to put it out around the first of the year so people can plan accordingly. Many plan their vacations and days off around the events, and I like to give plenty of notice. It’s good for us to be busy in the Kingdom of God. It has often been said that idle hands are the devil’s workshop. As you look at your life, it’s generally during the idle times when that faithfulness slips away. Laziness is not a good quality to possess. While it’s perfectly acceptable to be lazy occasionally, or to have a “lazy day” to recharge, having a “lazy life” is not. I often respond to folks who tell me “you’re awful busy” with “it keeps me out of trouble.” There is some truth to that. The more that we do for the Lord the less time and effort we have for the devil. How do you spend your time? Could you take more time for God? We all can but not all do. This time of year many also think about resolutions. We resolve to be better in various areas of our lives. Maybe you want to be more involved in the work of the Lord. This is a great time to see what events, activities, and opportunities interest you. Then you can plan your calendar accordingly. I’m always looking for new people who want to go and do in the vineyard of God! I know the calendar is full already but there is room for more! SERVICETIMES

Can you believe it ’s December?

While it’s perfectly a c c e p t a b l e t o b e l a z y occasionally, or to have a “lazy day” to recharge, having a “lazy life” is not.

This is a great time to see what e v e n t s , a c t i v i t i e s , a n d opportunities interest you. Then you can plan your calendar accordingly. I’m always looking for new people who want to go and do in the vineyard of God!

I know the calendar is full already but there is room for more! I’m excited about the new things we are adding next year for our Young Families, and I’m looking forward to

(continued from page 1) keeping a full schedule for the Teens and Anchor groups. In addition to those specific groups, the congregation as a whole has some great things coming up, as well, that I’m excited to be working on.

However, I’m always looking for new things to add to the schedule or changes to make the things we are already doing better. I would love to hear any suggestions you may have. If you have some, let me know in the next few weeks so I can have time to work on and implement them. Looking forward to a great 2017! I hope you make plans to labor with us for the cause of Christ!

Help Us Help Others: Blessing Bags

It’s that time of year again. The Anchor group is collecting items needed for Blessing Bags. These are small bags that you can keep in your car to hand to homeless people and others in need. They are filled with water, food, hand warmers, personal hygiene items and a $5 gift card to a fast food restaurant.

Please pick up some of these items and place them in the basket in the foyer. Gift cards can be given to Josh. We need: bottled water, small food items, hand warmers, band aids, chap stick, travel size hygiene items, $5 gift cards for fast food.

Homes Needed For RAMS/Anchor Devotionals

Please see the sign-up sheets for 2017 in the foyer to host a devo for one of these great groups!

Teens: RAMS every Sunday night. There are usually 20-30 people to feed. They will arrive around 6:40 and will leave at 8pm. They will conduct a devo, eat, and then have fellowship.

Anchor: Every 1st & 3rd Friday nights. There are usually 6-8 people to feed. They will arrive at 6pm, eat, conduct a devotional, and engage in fellowship. They will leave whenever you tell them to

go!
