I would like to wish a big congrats to all of the AWBT players who competed in the Regional Tour Championship in January. All of the local players gave it their all and they should all be proud of how they did. Nice job ladies.

World Champion Mike Sigel is coming to Phoenix in February. He will be making appearances at a number of different rooms in early January. The man has truly forgotten more about pool than most people know. Don’t pass up this great chance to see one of the living legends of the game.

Looks like some of the recent high dollar gambling is causing some out-of-towners to come into Phoenix looking for a piece of the action. Tourney directors, be careful of newbies with low ratings and lots of confidence. Until next time... - Mike

Jason Sweet & George Rowe were crowned kings of the 8’s and 7’s respectively in a unique tournament at Stinger’s on January 11th and 12th.

The tournament, the brainchild of Sophia Morquecho, saw players battling it out in a race to 4 8-ball and then a race to 4 9-ball, with a race to 4 10-ball match on tap if the first two matches were split between the players.

Sweet was undefeated in the 8’s and under event on Saturday, but had close calls against both Mike Hamman and Burt Balancad. Hamman and Balancad both took Sweet to three sets on Sat-urday, before Jason won the 10-ball to advance with the wins.

When Sunday play got underway, Sweet took the hot-seat with a 4-2 and 4-1 win over Joe Masi.

On the one loss side, Steve Stowers was putting together a nice series of wins. Back to back 4-2 wins over Mike Hamman were followed up with a 4-3 and 4-1 win over Joe Masi to set up the final match between Sweet and Stowers.

After Sweet won the 8-ball over Stowers 4-2, Steve forfeited the remaining 9-ball match as he had to be in Tucson for work.

The 7’s and under event saw George Rowe and Amanda Pulley making their way through the right side of the board to face off for the hot-seat. Rowe won the 8-ball 4-2, but Pulley came back to win the 9-ball 4-2. The match came down to one game of 10-ball at 3-3, which Rowe won to take the hot-seat.

The one loss side saw Joe Chyzy defeat John

Keeler 4-2/4-0, and Rico Gonzales eliminate Mark Smith 4-1/4-3.

The match between Chyzy and Gonzales was a true battle with all three sets going hill-hill before Joe pulled out the win.

Pulley kept her dreams of being crowned “Queen of the 7’s” alive with a 4-3 win over Chyzy in 8-ball, but dropped the 9-ball set 4-0. The 10-ball set went hill-hill with Chyzy again pulling out the win.

With all of the close matches, Rowe ended any drama early in the final match against Chyzy, as he won 4-2 & 4-1 to take the title.

The 9’s will get their chance to compete in this unique format on February 8th, when Sophia holds the King of

the 9’s event at Stingers.

Barry and Balancad Split at Knobbys

Burt Balancad and Robert Barry proved to be the best, in another big field of players at Knobbys’ 9’s & Under 8-Ball Tournament on January 3rd.

The field of 29 players came down to Balancad and Barry for the hot-seat, and Barry came with a great full ball jump on the 8-ball to win that match.

Meanwhile, Bernie Store was wrecking havoc on the one loss side with wins over Claudia Morado and Steve Stowers before falling to Balancad in the semi-finals.

Considering the late hour, Balancad and Barry opted for a split instead of play-ing out the final match.

Complete Payouts:1st Robert Barry $2251st Burt Balancad $2253rd Bernie Store $1004th Steve Stowers $405th Claudia Morado $155th Ed Scott $15

I attended the Ratings Committee meeting held at River City on January 12 hoping to present some data that would persuade the committee to base player raises more on fact rather than the current opinion system they use. As the old say-ing goes “opinions are like (insert term here used to describe bodily excrement valve) everybody’s got one and everyone thinks everyone else’s stinks ”. Facts are always correct while opinions are always in conflict. I spent quite a few hours going though all 12 monthly back issues of the Billiard and Dart News creating a spreadsheet of about 250 players that cashed in tournaments during this time period. The spreadsheet docu-ments for each player how many tournaments and position they cashed in, where they played, tournament rating, monthly issue data was ob-tained from and whether it was scotch or singles. It also includes whether a player was raised and when. While this data is not all inclusive of a player’s complete history during this time period it certainly is highly indicative of where their skills lie as related to their peers. I didn’t have any access to any league data so those results couldn’t be included.

Of course the committee’s chairman brushed the data aside as I heard him later in the meeting make a remark to the effect that the data I pre-sented wouldn’t be useful. It didn’t surprise me much as this committee is much like the govern-ment where a handful of people think they are god sent and know what’s the best for rest of us. At least with the government we have constitu-tional amendments and 4 years to send some of the miscreants back to god. With this committee they have their own little political system where you have no right to vote. With their last meet-ing they invoked a new rule where you need 75%

of the vote to successfully petition yourself to be low-ered. Even congress limits overturning an issue to 66% of the vote, which is there considered near impossible.

The Ratings Committee’s job is to keep all players rated on a fair basis so that all who enter tournaments or leagues that use their ratings have a fair chance of success. The proof of the pudding in this respect is that you would most often seen different players in the winner’s circle from tournament to tournament (or leagues) and month to month. Not too surprisingly the data shows that the players who win the most by a huge amount are either some of the ones guarding the fort (committee members) or their close friends (politics). Often their competitors are quickly raised after winning a couple tournaments in a 3 month period while they are not raised until they have won 3 to 5 times as much over 6 to 10 months. It would appear that there are 2 rating committee standards. One standard for almost all of us that aren’t on the committee and a “good old boy” standard for those in position of power and the players they protect. I won’t name any names but I will let the data speak for itself. If you are interested in a copy of this spreadsheet just send me an email at [email protected] and I will send you a copy. You can de-cide for yourself if you think the data is relevant or not. If you don’t think the data is correct I have all 12 back issues of which I would be glad to let anyone review. If the committee refuses to switch to a system based on facts rather than opinions my best advice to you as a player if you want to remain competitive in the tourna-ment scene is to find a committee member or tourna-ment director and become the very best of friends.

While playing at a tournament at Groggys in October I overheard directly from the committee’s chairman’s mouth as he was talking to another player that he couldn’t believe that 11 out of 12 committee members voted to raise him to a 9. I submit that if someone at

his level can’t judge his own level of play how then can he be effective at judging anyone else’s level of play. Again not too surprisingly there aren’t that many other members on the committee who are very adept in this field either since they too rely on opinion rather than fact.

Let me give you a little example on how the Rat-ing Committee raises a player to another level. A committee member brings up a player’s name (John for example) that he would like to raise. He says, “John is a 7 and he shoots like an eight”. He doesn’t give any other details as to why the player should be raised. The chairman asks if any other committee member has seen the player play. An-other member speaks up and says“ I have watched John play and he is definitely not an 8. This member doesn’t give any details either. Another member opines that “John is an 8 all day long”, while again does not give any details other than he watched John play a match in a tournament. The chairman asks for a vote for all in favor of raising John to an 8. Two members hold up their hands. The chairman then asks for a vote for all against John being raised. One member holds up his hand. The chairman then announces that John is now an 8 and it is written into the books.

I challenge the committee to define what criteria it takes to be raised from one level to the next other than “my opinion is” which we can see from the quote in the first paragraph that opinions are not accurately effective especially as the group mak-ing the opinions grows in size beyond 1. I further challenge the committee to apply this nonexistent criterion to the players that were raised at the last meeting and explain why they were raised to the next level. There have long been complaints about committee members voting to raise a player to the(Letter continued on page 25)

Congratulations to Scott Gwilliam, Ryan Leven-good & Chris Negrin of 2 Lefts Make It Right from Jester’s Billiards! They went 5-1 on their way to winning $1500 in prize money + $185 in side pots and becoming the Fall 2013 AZPL State Champions!

The fun began on Friday night at Stinger’s Sports Bar & Grill with 58 players signing up for a blind draw scotch doubles/singles tournament. It was a race to two on both sides as players were paired up on the scotch side. With almost $900 in prize money the tournament paid out 8 play-ers. The team of Tim Ashley & Calvin Balcom went 5-0 to take the hot seat and wait it out on the scotch side. In Scotch Doubles/Singles when your scotch team loses you ditch your partner and play on the losers side in what is now a sin-gles tournament. The final two players team up to take on the winner of the Scotch side. Those two players were Anthony Tomei and Steve Blackburn. In the end the four players decided to split the money four ways with each player get-ting $152. 3rd & 4th place from the singles side was Anthony Beyale & Tony Begay with each getting $87. Eugene Hemphill & Ben Sutherland finished 5th & 6th and received $43 a piece.

That wasn’t all the fun! Thirty-two players competed in the 8-Ball Break & Run Derby on Friday night too! Skip Bales jumped to an early lead with 42 points in the first round. The second round wasn’t as successful as he only got 4 but still maintained the lead. Scott Harris was in 2nd with 38 points after two rounds with Ben Suther-land right behind him with 34. After having over half the field eliminated the third round finished with a 3- way tie for the third spot. Skip came back with 12 in the third to clinch the top spot with 58 points. Scott finished with 7 points and a total of 45 to take the 2nd. Ben Sutherland scored 8, Brady Williams scored 13 and Terry Lemke got 17 to all tie at 42! In what was a 3-way playoff it was Brady Williams coming out on top to take the 3rd spot in the Finals! Skip never looked back as he scored 12 for the win and $120 in cash & prizes! Brady Williams scored 11 to finish 2nd with $80 in cash & prizes and Scott Harris took 3rd with 6 points to get $40 in cash & prizes!

And last but not least there was the Wild Card Tournament! Four teams competed for the final spot in the championships with the Car Junkees Part Deux of Kirk’s Korner coming out victori-ous! Congratulations to Calvin Balcom, Chad Metivier & Darrel Bednarek! With the win they get to claim the 32nd spot in the championships and a 9am start time!

Which brings us to Saturday!!! 9am and 8 teams ready to play! Out of those 8, 3 Guns went 5-2 to finish 14th and won $120! Fernando Prats was the Championship MVP going 17-4 and scoring 183 points for his team while shooting a 26.1 match average in 7 matches! Team captain John Ilk went 15-6 while scoring 181 points and a 25.8 MA. Common Interests went 4-2 to take 19th and $90! Dwayne Beagle was the tourna-ment match average leader, shooting 28.2 while going 14-3! The Three Amigos started in the 11th slot at 3pm and went 3-0 before losing a 73-71 nail-biter to No Name on Sunday! They’d go 2-1 on the loser’s side before finishing in 5th place and winning $400! Steve Morrow led the team with 195 points, going 16-5 with a 27.9 match average over 7 matches. 2 Lefts Make It Right started at 7pm Saturday and started their run by facing off against Chris Negrin’s other team, It’s Like a Nightmare, which it probably was as Chris sat on the sidelines and watched his team-mates battle it out. Ryan Levengood hitan 8-ball break to propel 2 Lefts to a 70-54 win.

Their next match was against DILLIGAF. After going down 34-21 after 4 games they went on a 40-10 run to win 61- 44 in 8 games setting up their first of three games vs Tough Times. After winning 5 out of 6 they had a 56-42 point advantage heading into the third round. Tough Times went on a 30-12 run to win 69-68 straight up and send them to the loser’s side to battle it out. Their next match was a rematch against DILLI-GAF. This time it came down to the wire with a 68-66 nail-biter victory to take the top spot on the losers side setting up a rematch vs Tough Times! In the first match it was tied at 17 after 2 games before going on a 50- 20 run to win 67-40 in 7 games. In the second match, not so much. Like the game before it was tied at 17 after 2 games but this time it was Tough Times as Terry Lemke hit an 8- ball break to get a 28-17 lead heading into round two. After 6 games it was tied up at 54. Can’t get any closer than that. After trading wins it was a 3-point spread with one game to go. Win or lose. That simple. Scott Gwilliam took the stage against Kevin Phillips and let out victorious yell after a 10-2 win to win the 32nd AZPL State Championship and almost $1700!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Champion-ships! It was great seeing so many of you there! Thanks to everyone at Stinger’s for being great hosts! Every-one did a great job and the place looked great! And of course, thanks to Jen for putting up with me all week-end.

APA Phoenix Metro held its session ending 2013 summer 8 Ball Tri-Citiestournaments last month at Main Street Billiards in Mesa. 32 teams from all over Maricopa County showed up to compete for a chance to play in Las Vegas next August at the APA National Team Championships . Theses tournaments are the step in the year long “Road To Vegas “ series for teams hoping to win the prize slots that will be awarded to the 5 win-ners of the City Tournaments to be held in June of 2014. It is also the awards ceremony where there is over $25,000.00 in cash and trophies to be given to the top placing teams throughout the session.

It took 2 days of tournaments to qualify 8 teams to participate in this year’s finale ‘Cities Tourna-ment’. Each day 16 teams met to battle it out for the 4 slots awarded both days.

Teams consisted of 5 to 8 Players of all differ-ent skill levels and age groups. The great thing about the APA pool league is that each team must have as many beginner players as they have good players. Teams are structured in such a way that the lower skilled players are just as important to a team as the higher level players. In fact, many teams that play APA are family teams. Gina Nowlin, the league operator for the phoenix and Maricopa County APA, says ‘We have teams that consist of the Mom, Dad, kids and grandkids’. These families use their pool night out for some ‘good ole family bonding’, she said. The handi-capped league insures that all players, no matter what their skill level, have an equal chance of winning.

Winning Teams are:

Special Powers – Jeff Lawson, Gary Donahoe (Back), Caitlin Donahoe, Team Captain Sean Donahoe, Jeremy Ortega, Warren Rogers, Christopher Insley and Sezaline Rogers (Not Shown)

Insanity Sports Sandbaggers – Marvin Milsap, Mike Larimer, Ryan Mitchell and Charlie Heape (in Front), Linda Arnott, Team Captain Rick Mitchell, Eric Glud and Craig Rosenstein.

Misfits – Team Captain Polly Hughes, Tanner Lopez, Martin Rosales, Pam Barbosa, Samantha Veronie, Brad Andrews and Jeremiah Buckman.

We’ve Got You Now - Jeremy Schneider, Team Captain James Main, Jarrett Weger, Shannon Weger, Michelle Press and David Press

Slightly Disturbed - Team Captain Kasper Van Heise, Kaurra Kilgore, Mary Ackerstrom, Chambre Mayhem, Josh Ruiz and Dave Rayner.

Dode’s 8 – Dan Wilson, Sheryl Morton, Kyle Kelly, Tony Jankowski, Bob Burns, Courtney Wudcoski, Team Captain Matthew Olsen and Matthew Frakes.

Spank You Very Much – Manny Lucero, John Brooks, Ike Van Atta, Jenn Frass, Julia Wawrzyniak, Brent Strozewski (Back), Jessica Lee-Morrow, and Team Cap-tain Chuck Sandman.

Raceway Dawgs – Tim Daniel, Lionel Iglesias, Team Captain Phillys Lowery, Ben Young, JoAnn McNeil (front), Walt Mros (back) and Rick Taylor

It was a great success, there were many giveaways handed out by the League Operators that included cues and cases, DVD’s and other pool accesso-ries. Everyone played well, had some fun and we watched some great matches played. Congratula-tions to all the winning teams and all the teams that attended the tournament you were among some of the best teams we have.

The AMOA–National Dart Association held its first two of three regional soft-tip dart tourna-ments in Madison, Wis., Dec. 6-8, and Phoenix, Dec. 13-15. Seventeen NDA operators sent 196 players to the Madison tournament and 133 play-ers from seven NDA operators attended Phoenix, all competing for $15,000 in prize money at each location. The first year for NDA Regional Tournaments to be held, players and operators were enthusiastic about the extra fun and affordable opportunities to compete and win. Operators participating in the Madison and Phoe-nix tournaments purchased 253 and 207 event entry certificates respectively. Each competition featured Open Singles Combo, Doubles Cricket, Doubles ’01 and Mixed Triples Combo offer-ing varying levels of play based on player skill ratings. Prizes were awarded in each event level providing a fair and competitive environment for all skill sets. “Through the creation of these Regional Tour-naments, we wanted to give players another opportunity to compete and get the most out of their NDA-sanctioned status at a local level,” said NDA President Judy Mehle. “We are overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the two tournaments so far, and hope to have just as great an experience at the final tournament in Florida.”

These Regional Tournaments provide an additional op-portunity to the annual international tournament, Team Dart, for players who are unable to attend or wish to compete in more events. Regional Tournament par-ticipants must be an NDA-sanctioned player, and are required to have played a minimum of 48 league games within the qualifying period. For those wishing to compete in Team Dart, the Region-al Tournaments also have the added benefit of additional game practice and offer players the opportunity to win entries to the annual international tournament held at Bally’s Las Vegas, April 25-May 3. NDA operator members interested in the Regional Tour-naments can still send sanctioned players to the final tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., Feb. 14-16. More infor-mation about the Regional Tournaments and Team Dart 2014 can be found by visiting www.NDAdarts.com.

The NDA is an international trade association of coin-operated vending companies representing approximate-ly 300 members and 250,000 players worldwide. The NDA was formed by and for coin machine operators to promote the sport of electronic darting exclusively on operator-owned equipment. The Association offers a variety of programs, materials and supplies to sup-port its members in increasing the profitability of their dart operations. The NDA and Team Dart is sponsored by the Amusement and Music Operators Association (AMOA), Arachnid, Inc., Cyberdine d.o.o., Gaelco Darts S.L., Medalist Corporation, NSM-Löwen Enter-tainment and Shelti.

For more information about membership in the NDA, its annual international Team Dart competition or bien-nial League SMART educational conference, contact

Leslie Murphy, Executive Director at 800.808.9884 ext.120, or visit the NDA website at www.NDAda-rts.com.

The World Professional Billiard League held their first amateur tournament in Phoenix, AZ on January 11, 2014. The tournament which fea-tured the game of Bonus Ball, had a division for both men and women.

Michael Bates owner of Bull Shooters hosted the event with the assistance of Tres Kane and Phoe-nix Fire captain Scott Frost. The facility which boasts 44 tables under 20,000 sq. ft. of space, drew 30 participants and numerous spectators. Fans and players gathered at noon for a two hour exhibition instructed by Frost, Chicago Rockets captain Rodney Morris and WPBL President Larry Chiborak. The exhibition consisted of teaching the six pocket amateur version of Bonus Ball. The rules for this version only require the use of one specialty shot, all six pockets and is handicapped for all amateurs to play.

The double elimination tournament was won by Ed Gonzalez in the Men’s Division with Lenny Marshall as runner-up. Susan Wilbur took the top spot in the Women’s Division and Sara Miller came in second; in addition, Abie Padilla took home a new set of Bonus Ball as the raffle prize winner. Gonzalez, who frequently watches the pro matches on the WPBL website was so impressed with the event he had this to say about the WPBL and Bonus Ball “first class….I see this game going places”. Miller stated she was skeptical at first, although “after playing a couple of games…it was awesome…I have fallen in love with playing”.

The WPBL has plans of hosting exhibitions and amateur tournaments in the US after the conclu-sion of the league championship in February. Larry Chiborak was pleased with the response from those in attendance saying “we know

this is a new game and some may think it is only for the pros….we want everyone to know that players of all levels can play the game of Bonus Ball…and will continue to bring the game directly to our fans through similar events in 2014”.

The complete amateur version of Bonus Ball rules are available at: http://wpbltv.com/pages/amateur_rulebook

Please follow the WPBL as the playoffs draw near, additional announcements and updates will be made frequently. For a complete listing of broadcast matches,

James Brown Undefeated At KittysJames Brown was the hardest working man at Kittys on January 11th, as he went through the field undefeated to win the 7’s & Under 9-Ball tournament.

Brown scored a hill-hill victory over Johnny Garcia to take the hot-seat, and took a break before his encore in the final match.

Garcia then ran into a buzz-saw by the name of Bob Jacobs on the one loss side. Bob had lost to Johnny in the final four on the winners side, but he got his revenge with a lopsided 7-2 win in the rematch.

As strong as Jacobs was playing, he had no answer for Brown in the finals as Brown cruised to a 7-4 win for first place.

Laura & Lefty took the hot-seat with a close 6-5 win over Hector Solis & Ken Carroll.

Action on the left side of the board saw Mark Norman & Kenny Jones on a tear after losing their first match of the day. They had already won three matches in a row, and notched win number four with a 6-0 win over JW & Cheri Jacobs.

Mark & Kenny would be forced to settle for third after Hector & Ken came over from the right side of the board and handed them a 7-3 loss.

The final match would only go one set with Laura & Left repeating their 6-5 hot-seat match score in another win over Hector & Ken.

Things looked bad early for Carpenter & Riley, after dropping their first match of the day to Aaron Purdy & Bob Jacobs. Aaron & Bob would ride the winners side, but lose 9-2 to Leo & Tom for the hot-seat.

Chris & D would get their revenge over Aaron & Bob 7-3 in the rematch, and then go on to score back to back 7-6 wins over Leo & Tom in the finals.

(Letter continued from page 5) next level without ever having seen the player in question play. I give credit to the committee in this last meeting for trying to correct this inequi-ty but unfortunately the cure turned out to be far worse than the flaw. Now if only one committee member has seen you play and they say that you need to be raised and no one else votes then you are raised on the whims of 1 person. That puts a lot of potentially abusive power in the hands of one individual. I found out a long time ago that it doesn’t pay to win against someone who is on the rating committee even if you got all the rolls in the match.

It’s easy to deduce that facts are the only ef-fective fair way to determine a players level as compared to their peers. What are the facts? It’s really simple. The facts as related to handi-capped pool are which players end up in the cash, place position and tournament rating & size. In leagues the facts are the position that players place in player standings at the end of the season as compared to players at the same or higher rating. The committee complains that it is too hard to collect the data necessary to deter-mine if a player needs to be raised or not. They say they can’t get the tournament directors and or business institutions to call or email them the information related to their tournament results. I say that is a bunch of hogwash as I know from lots of league play that the data is effectively collected each week and the results are posted weekly in the pool establishments for all to see. Take a look at AZPL.NET as a fine example of player and team statistics for their league. Anyone can look at the data online at any time without having to have a user id and password to check player and team statistics. Again when

it comes to tournaments all the data that is needed is the name of the players that cashed, the position they placed in and the tournament size. All the rest of the tournament information is irrelevant, as the players that didn’t cash have not proven to be a threat to be raised. How long does it take a tournament director to shoot off a short email listing the players that cashed, the size of the tournament and rating? If they don’t want to then don’t give them access to the rating system. If a rating system is fair it will draw more players to the business establishment’s tournaments that use the system making it a benefit to the owner. What owner would object to making more money verses making sure a few emails are sent each month easily done via cell phone or com-puter requiring only a few minutes time?

Handicapped tournaments and leagues using the rating system are like a pie with the cash won and fleeting fame being the sweet rewards. You should only be in jeopardy of being raised when you have had your fair share of the pie. On the other hand if you are not cash-ing what threat are you that you should be raised. What determines what you fair share is? For tournaments it’s a simple matter to assign a number of points for each cash position with a larger number of points for the same position in a larger tournament. When a player meets or exceeds a given number of points in a set time period (say 3 months) then they are automatically raised without a vote as they have had their share of the pie. If after set period of time a player does not cash after being raised they can petition the committee to be lowered. It’s not the amount of money that you win but your ability to cash in these tournaments that count. When it comes to leagues it’s a different scenario as the cash rewards are usually team oriented rather individu-ally based. Also many league players never compete in tournaments. With leagues comparisons would be made for your position as related to your peers or the next level up. For example if you are a 5 and you position

at the end of the season is among the 6’s then it’s a no-brainer that you aren’t a 5. If you are at the top of the 5’s then depending on how many 5’s are in your league would decide on whether you should be raised or not.

I have heard several committee members say that scotch doubles shouldn’t be considered that much when it comes to raising a player. Again I say what a bunch of bull. If you’re playing scotch doubles and you’re eating too much pie then it’s time to go up. I’ve played enough scotch doubles to know that it takes both players on a team playing strong to end up in the cash.

I have been told that a system based on the facts would leave no need for a committee. I would think however that a committee would be just as important as ever. Someone needs to collect and input the data, the data needs to be reviewed and decisions need to be made. As any system can be gamed, committee members need to be watchful to keep this from happening as well as keeping an eye out for road players looking for a quick score. I think the committee could also be instrumental in setting game standards for all the tournaments that use their system as for now it seems like each es-tablishment you play in has a different set of rules for their tournaments. Most of the leagues have their own well-established set of rules.

With a fair rating system the game of pool can only grow making it better for all players and busi-ness owners alike.

Feltman Unstoppable At Bullshooters

Paul Feltman Sr. came one match short of winning the Bullshooters One Pocket Madness event in December. In January, he made up for that with an undefeated win.

Feltman took the hot-seat with a 2-0 win over tourney director Tres Kane, and Kane was then eliminated by Prescott’s Jim Hendrickson.

The finals came down to Feltman and Hendrickson, two of the best three cushion players in the state, and it was Feltman proving to be the superior one pocket player on this day with a 3-0 win.

Fourth place was taken by tournament newcomer John Ritonya.

Parrill Takes Down Stingers 9 & Under

Chuck Parrill bounced back from a loss to Mike Sandoval, to win Stinger’s 9’s & Under 9-Ball event on January 25th.

After three wins on the right side of the board, Parrill ran into Sandoval in the 4th round and dropped a 7-3 decision. Sandoval would go on to defeat Jose Gonzales 7-3 for the hot-seat.

Parrill took the loss in stride and ran through three tough matches on the left side of the board to earn the rematch with Sandoval in the finals.

The first set of the finals went Parrill’s way 6-4, and the second set went to hill-hill before Parrill could put Sandoval away for a well deserved tournament win.
