Interstate 55 bisects Livingston County. Four full interchanges connect Livingston Couny businesses to over 2,000 miles of interstate highway in Illinois. One-third of the US population can be reached within a one-day drive time from Livingston County.
Highway Livingston County is located approximately 80 miles South of Chicago on Interstate 55. It is also centrally located within 40 miles of Interstates 1-39, 1-57, 1-74 and 1-80.
Airway Livingston County is located approximately 90 miles from O’Hare International Airport and 80 miles from Midway International Airport. Additionally, the Central Illinois Regional Airport (CIRA) is located in Bloomington, approxi-mately 40 miles away. Pontiac Municipal Airport also possesses a 5,000 foot runway and jet fuel service station.
Rail Livingston County is a strategic freight rail hub possessing the intersections of the following train lines: Burlington Northern Santa Fe & Norfolk Southern; Norfolk Southern & Union Pacific; and Toledo, Peoria, Bloomer Shippers Connecting Rail Road & Western. Also, Livingston County is served by high-speed Amtrak passenger service with depots in Dwight and Pontiac.

PUBLIC PARKS & POOLS: Throughout Livingston County, 25 city parks can be found. Indoor swimming facilities include the Flanagan Memorial Pool, Pontiac Elks Lodge, and the Pontiac Recreation Center. Outdoor pool facilities are located in: Chatsworth, Chenoa, Dwight, Fairbury, and Odell. Pontiac Recreation Center also offers two outdoor splashpads.
SPECIAL EVENTS: Livingston County is home to a number of annual events throughout the year including: Harvest Days, Dwight; Heritage Days, Chats-worth & Pontiac; The Illinois Basset Waddle, Dwight; The Red Carpet Corridor Festivals, Dwight, Odell, & Pontiac; and the Thresherman’s Reunion, a blue-grass festival, Pontiac; to name just a few.
VIBRANT ART COMMUNITY: Livingston County enjoys an active arts scene with local artists and performing arts groups, many of which perform at the Eagle Performing Arts & Conference Center in Pontiac. The Vermillion Players has been entertaining audiences for nearly 55 years. There are also several art museums and galleries including Fairbury Echoes, The International Walldog Mural and Sign Art Museum, and Pontiac Community Art Center.
