Dynamic Catholic, Alive! – The Human Person Christ has commanded us to love one another. As part of BeOne, the Archdiocese is making a special effort to promote human dignity and social responsibility. Each and every human person is endowed with a spiritual and immortal soul, intelligence, and free will. This is why the Church protects and supports life from conception until natural death. Because we are endowed with free will, freedom of religion and freedom to pursue the good must be protected. Have you embraced the Church’s teachings on the human person? archstl.org/dynamic

WORD OF LIFE: “By radiating charity and mercy to all our neighbors, we provide those much-needed islands of mercy. Together, we stand against the wind of the throwaway culture, and brave its sea of indifference, sustained by Jesus who is, as Pope Francis has called Him, ‘the living face of the Father's mercy.’” “Life Issues Forum: After Marching, Acting as Islands of Mercy” Caitlin Thomas, USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities www.goo.gl/QNBGZp

”The Courage to Love” The Great Commandment of Love In the Gospel reading, Jesus challenges his followers, “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another” (John 13:34). This great commandment of love lies at the heart of our Catholic faith. Each of us is called to love others – especially those in need – as God loves us. Jesus is the perfect example of love. His life and ministry teach us that love is selfless, generous, patient and forgiving. His suffering and death reveal the depths of His love for us. Jesus offered Himself on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Before we experience the joy of the resurrection, we must die with Him on Calvary. We die to our human sinfulness, selfishness and pride. We learn to draw close to Him through sacramental hope and healing. Then, we reach out in loving service of our brothers and sisters. In his pastoral letter, Jesus Christ – the Divine Physician, Archbishop Carlson offers this invitation: “Let the Lord’s healing love penetrate to the roots of sin in your life.” During this Holy Year of Mercy, we are invited to become even bolder witnesses of this healing love as joyful disciples of Jesus Christ. The Annual Catholic Appeal is an important way to witness the love of God to others in our community. Through the many ministries, agencies and apostolates supported by the Appeal, we reach out to those in need, extending the love and mercy of Jesus to the least among us. During this Easter season, we encounter Christ, the risen Lord, receive His healing love and witness that love to all we encounter. Then, in the words of Jesus, “all will know that you are my disciples” (John 13:35). Our Goal this year: St. Joachim - $10,447 with a challenge goal of $19,290.00 (which we always exceed!). St. Joseph’s goal is $959.00. Pledge cards for St. Joachim are available in the school cafeteria beginning this weekend following all the Masses. At St. Joseph they will be available on the table in the back of Church. Everyone is encouraged to take a few minutes to make their pledge.

If you are interested in chairing this position or have any workable ideas or concepts please feel free to call Mary Ann at the Rectory office or write them down and put your response in the Sunday collection basket. Thanks! EXPECT MORE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FESTIVAL IN FUTURE BULLETINS! IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!!!

THIS WEEK’S READINGS: Today’s Easter season scriptures paint a picture of God who loves us so much that the divine dwelling is now among us, with the human race. Jesus was the first physical manifestation of that new reality. As we listen to these sacred scriptures today, let us reflect on how God’s dwelling is within each of us and how we manifest that to the world around us.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: To whom do I need to show mercy this week? How?
