Even in the garden of the resurrection, Jesus goes unrecognized at first. The Gospel of John records a weep-ing woman, mistaking the risen savior for a gardener. Until, that is, she is called by name……...Mary……. Robert. Catherine. Joanne. Steven. Hailey. Travis.

Jesus rises for you. He rises for me. He rises for each and every one of us. We are called by name in the garden of the resurrection. This Sunday and every Sunday, Jesus comes to meet us. Imagine sitting with him. How is he look-ing at you? What do you say to him? When the resurrected Lord greets you with a smile, how do you respond?

EASTER SUNDAY DOMINGO DE PASCUA

We are witnesses that He is risen. That is the task we have in front of us as it is the core of the apostolic preaching: " We are witnesses of all that he did… God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and pow-er. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”

The Easter experience enables us to do that, because we are empowered by love and faith. Love is what moves us to come here and though our faith has been shaken, we can ponder and remember the words of Jesus. And to celebrate doing it “in memory of Him”. That has been the reason why Saint Peter Parish was established 81 years ago. And that is the rea-son why we come with joy to celebrate together our common mission for the many more years the Lord has in store for us in this parish family.

The Easter morning encounters us “on the move”, praying, pondering, sharing, planning as we look at the promising future the Lord has for us in His Love and mercy. Our faithful witness of the Risen Christ will be so powerful that many will be moved by our words and deeds. Like the Apostle Peter will say to everyone, “I don’t have gold nor silver, what I have I’ll share with you, Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord.

Filled with the Easter Blessing I imagine every one of us will assume seriously the task to be Holy as He is Holy, mak-ing of our community a vibrant parish filled with joyful missionary disciples.

I am grateful for the presence of Fr. James Adams in our midst for the past two months. He is going now to a special retreat and I know that you join me in wishing him the best. May God bless every day of your ministry, Fr. Adams and may His love fill your heart with so much joy seeing that the seeds planted by your ministry are growing up.

Easter Monday, I’ll travel for 10 days, to participate as chaplain (mass, confessions, spiritual direction) in a Pilgrimage to Italy; and I will take some of those days as personal retreat at the place of the birth of Saint John Bosco in Turin, Italy. It is my goal to have you with me as I visit Saint Peter Basilica in Rome and will enter there with every one of you and your families in my heart and in my backpack. Please know, that in my grateful heart, I’ll be praying for your intentions. Especially, the needs of those who are sick in our community.

My absence will be covered by Fr. Albert Kemboi, from our sister Diocese of Lodwar (Kenya). He will kindly stay at the rectory and has assured me that he wants to know the community, that means that if someone wants to invite him for coffee or dinner, he gladly will go. Thanks for welcoming him. God bless your openness to live this great pastoral experience. Thanks Fr. Albert, Welcome Home, God bless you.

May the Lord bless you and may the Easter Joy remain with you forever.

Saint Peter, Prince of the Apostles, Pray for us.

Fr. Fabio

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Alleluia! Christ is risen! We are called, by how we live our lives, to celebrate the risen Christ. How do we do that? Our faith in the resurrection gathers us here today to celebrate this incredible event. The good news is that the doors of eternity are open! We can now understand that the fullness of who we are will be discovered when we one day meet God face-to-face in heaven. Our faith in the truth of who God is and who we are affects how we live our lives and the decisions we make. We are called to love our neighbor...to love those who hurt us...to work on behalf of the poor and the weak...to be people of justice, integrity, and hope... to practice compassion and mercy above anything else. Our lives are meant to be oriented around the axis of the Gospel. Are they?

The Easter Vigil is the "Mother of All Vigils." Easter Sunday, then, is the greatest of all Sundays, and Easter Time is the most important of all liturgical times. Easter is the celebration of the Lord's Resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and the sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost. It is characterized, above all, by the joy of glo-

rified life and the victory over death, expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia!

All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

"What you sow is not brought to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel of wheat, perhaps, or of some other kind;…So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown corruptible; it is raised incorruptible. It is sown dishonorable; it is raised glorious. It is sown weak; it is raised powerful. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual one. So, too, it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living being," the last Adam a life-giving spirit. But the spiritual was not first; rather the natural and then the spiritual. The first man was from the earth, earthly; the second man, from heaven. As was the earthly one, so also are the earthly, and as is the heavenly one, so also are the heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthly one, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly one. (1 Cor 15:36-37, 42-49).

The octave of Easter comprises the eight days which stretch from the first to the second Sunday. It is a way of pro-longing the joy of the initial day. In a sense, every day of the Octave is like a little Sunday.

The word "Easter" comes from Old English, meaning simply the "East." The sun which rises in the East, bringing light, warmth and hope, is a symbol for the Christian of the rising Christ, who is the true Light of the world. The Paschal Candle is a central symbol of this divine light, which is Christ. It is kept near the ambo throughout Easter Time and lit for all liturgical celebrations.

"The Gospel is very clear: we need to go back there, to see Jesus risen, and to become witnesses of his

resurrection...It is returning to our first love " - Pope Francis

Learn the Secrets to Being a Great Listener ~ Free Workshop ~

A free workshop to enhance listening skills for daily life situations is being offered by the local BeFriender Ministry, Saturday, May 4, 9am - 1pm at St. Peter Parish. During this workshop, participants will identify their listening strengths and weaknesses. Then, three key listening strategies will be covered, along with opportunities to practice them.

Being a strong listener will help in almost all circum-stances, good or bad. For someone going through a life-changing event such as serious illness, death of a loved one, or divorce, a good listener can be comforting and supportive, while poor listeners can actually make the situation worse. When focused on listening, one grows in greater understanding and compassion for another’s values and life experiences.

Although the workshop is free, preregistration is needed. Space is limited. To register, or for more information, contact Dennis Dreyer at [email protected].

UN ENCUENTRO CON CRISTO RESUCITADO Rezamos, ayunamos y donamos—¡y

ahora celebramos la alegría de la Pascua! Nuestra

Cristo Ha Resucitado, Verdaderamente Ha resucitado!
