CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Attend this conference and you can earn up to 12.8 continuing nursing education credits. Interested in topics outside your specialty?

Feel free to mix and match your conference package. Each participant will receive credit for the actual number of hours attended,

allowing those who must arrive late and/or leave early to receive the correct number of contact hours.

UAB Hospital's Center for Nursing Excellence (CNE) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Alabama Board of Nursing (Provider Number: ABNP0055, Expiration date: June 1, 2017). The CNE is also an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Alabama State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (Provider Number: 5-69) ABN approved contact hours: 12.8 ANCC approved contact hours: 10.66 Alabama nurses will need to scan their nursing licenses to obtain credit.

Refunds, minus a $25 administrative fee, will be issued for requests received in writing by March 27, 2014. Cancellations received

Opening Session

David Becker, PhD

David Becker (PhD Economics, UC-Berkeley) is an Associate Professor in the Department

of Health Care Organization and Policy in the UAB School of Public Health. He specializes in health, labor and regulatory economics. Much of his research deals with issues in health care policy, including studies of Medicare fraud and abuse, malpractice pressure and physician supply, and the role of financial incentives in health care quality. He is currently working on a number of health services research projects including studies of ED utilization and continuity of primary care within the Alabama Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Dr. Becker co-authored a study which examined the potential effects of Medicaid expansion in Alabama under the ACA.

Kent Rader

Kent Rader is a professional speaker and comedian entertaining

people wanting to learn and experience how laughter matters in reducing stress. Mr. Radar graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty Missouri with a BS in Accounting. He has twelve years experience as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer for hospitals and a five-year sentence in public accounting. In 1998 Mr. Rader left the exciting and rewarding field of accounting to become a professional speaker and comedian sharing with audiences across the country how laughter matters in combating stress and building quality organizations. In 2002 he wrote the stress reduction book titled Let It Go, Just Let It Go.
