    "Apparel Parks for Exports" has been

    formulated with a view to involve StateGovernments in promoting investmentsin the apparel sector.

    India Textile Industry

    India textile industry largely depends upon the textilemanufacturing and export.

    India earns about 27% of its total foreign exchange throughtextile exports.

    It also contributes around 3% to the GDP of the country

    Employment generation - largest in the country (Afteragriculture)

    India textile industry currently generates employment to morethan 35 million people.

    It is also estimated that, the industry will generate 12 millionnew jobs by the year 2010.

    India textile constitute 35% of the total export of our country.

    Details

    The State Govt. or an Undertaking sponsored by theState Government.

    Provide land free of cost for establishing the park ofsufficient size - approximately 150-250 acres

    Location - access to ports, airports, rail heads etc.,Availability of raw materials and the general level of

    infrastructural facilities

    Designated agency will provide infrastructural facilitieslike power, water, roads, sewerage and drainage, tele-communication & other facilities for the park.

    Garment manufacturing units with each unit having atleast 200 sewing machines

    Provide employment to at least 20,000 persons

    Providing flexibility in labour laws in these clusters.

    Central Government will give as a grant 75% of thecapital expenditure

    Remaining 25% will be born by the agency

    This grant shall be limited to a maximum of Rs. 10crores.

    Central Government will also provide a sum up toRs. 5 crores for setting up of an effluent treatmentplant, creche/s, any multi purpose centre/hall formarketing / display etc.

    Central Government will provide grant upto 50% ofthe cost of any training facility

    - maximum of Rs. 2 crores.

    State Government may not charge any stamp feeon the sale / transfer of land in this park.
