Hello fellow Miniacs! It is HOT ,HOT ,HOT and I am not talking about the MINIS.
Our very first “Cannonball Run” was a great success. We tested the driver and the navigators skills and only one came out on top – congrats to The Plumbs! No speeding tickets were given (that I know of). Coming up is the August 6th Motor in at The Coop. Come and join us at the Cusick’s new home and celebrate the unveiling of their new Coop. On August 27th, the Bingmans are hosting a trip to the British Vehicle Transportation Museum. Come and joins us for a guided tour of the British Vehicles that influenced the American transportation. New on the calendar for September 10th is our very first QCC Luau! Come join us for this one of a kind event at The Barn! There will be grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts, authentic Hawaiian Ice, and great food! The pool will be open and tiki torches burnin’! You will not want to miss this unforgettable event!
Remember in order to keep the club fun and exciting, we need everyone’s help! Please consider hosting an event, or planning a drive for this year. There are still PLENTY of open spaces on the calendar. Contact Jeff Greene, Tim Ross or myself if you are interested in hosting an event. If you plan a scenic drive, or a competitive drive, the club will give a $25 Gas Card to help cover fuel costs. We will be glad to assist in any way we can!

Cannon Ball Con’tOn July 9, 2016, QCC had it's first "Cannonball Run". This run started in Greendale, Indiana and ended in Hillsboro, Ohio. It was a great little race that had 10 MINIS in it plus another 3 MINIS in supporting roles. We met at 11:00am for our drivers meeting and to get the finish line destination. After a few frantic minutes of planning the route the drivers would take, we started leaving at 11:30. The MINIS left staggered a minute apart and they were timed to determine the winner. The finish line was Giovanni's Pizza in Hillsboro, Ohio where we enjoyed pizza and had "Cannonball Run",the movie, playing. Following the meal, we had our Motor In and trophies were given out for the run. OurtripendedwiththeBriFshGrandPrixatSilverstone.OurhotelbasewasinStraXord-upon-Avon,thedelighXul,walkablecityofWilliamShakespearelegend.AllofthehorrorstorieswehadheardofawfultrafficandmuddycondiFonswereuntrue.ItwasblusteryonSaturday,butdry.Wevisitedseveralgrandstandstogetafeelforthefacility.OnSunday,wewenttoourassignedgrandstandatAbbey–thefirstcorner.At12:40,someoneturnedonatapandwehadafive-minutedownpour!TheracestartedonFmeat1:00,butbehindthepacecar!Butthetrackdriedandtheracewasgoodbehindtheleader.TogettoourhotelfortheGrandPrix,thetourgrouptookustotheBriFshMotorMuseum–acollecFonfromBriFshcarmanufacturersofthingsthathadbeeninstorage.Thedaya`ertheGrandPrix,thetourincludedavisittotheDoningtonFormula1collecFon,theForceIndiateamfactory,andendedwithatourandsupperattheWilliamsracingcollecFon.
Betweentheraces,wehadelevendaystoexplore.WestartedinPortsmouthwithtwodaysa`ertheFesFvalofSpeed.WeusedonetovisittheIsleofWightjustoffthecoastwherewebought24-hourbuspassesandusedislandtransit,includingastopinBembridgeforlunchattheCrabandLobsterInn.Roadsarenarrow–carsyieldtooncomingbuses.FromPortsmouth,wetooktrainsandtheTubetoEdinburgh,Scotland.OurhotelwasonTheRoyalMile,so-namedfortheEdinburghCastleatthetopandHolyroodPalaceatthebocom.WetookabustouroftheScodshHighlands(butdidn’tseeNessie),usedahop-on-hop-offbustovisitTheRoyalYachtBritanniaandvisitedtheScotchWhiskyExperienceandEdinburghCastle.OurthirdcitywasLondon,reachedbytrainandtubefromEdinburgh.Weagainusedthehop-on-hop-offbusforacityorientaFon.WetouredtheTowerofLondontoseetheCrownJewels,tookaboatrideontheThames,enjoyedTheLondonEye,visitedtheBriFshMuseumtoseeTheRosecaStoneandsomestatuesfromTheParthenon,theChurchillWarRooms,andtheRoyalObservatoryinGreenwich.
WeflewoutofandbacktoDetroittojoinMiniTakestheStatesforafewdays.WemetupwithpartoftheCincinnaFgroupattheEasternMarketinDetroita`erwehadspentthedayexploringabitofdowntownbyPeopleMover.A`erthemorningMTTSstartinPonFac,weheadedforSt.IgnacewithasidetripthroughFrankenmuth,thenastopnearBayCitytoseesailboats.OurarrivalinSt.Ignacewasrainy,butthenextmorning’srise-and-shineattheLicleBearArenawasdryandover-runwithabout500MINIs!WeenjoyedthedriveacrosstheUpperPeninsulaincludingastopinEscanabaforlunch,thenontoGreenBayandTitletownBrewery.Thesupperlinewaslongbutthefoodwasgood–acelebraFonofWisconsincheese!OurfinalstopwithMTTSwasthenextmorningattheBrownCountyFairgrounds.
ThelastlegofourtripwasthedrivehomefromGreenBay.Amazingly,onaSaturdaya`ernoon,Chicagotrafficwasmovingatorabovethespeedlimit!Thewholetripwasawonderfulexperience,buthomefeltreallygreat!

Forthosenewtothesport,autocrossisafunandexciFngwaytodriveyourvehicleonasmalltrackagainsttheclockpluswehaveinstructors.Driverswillmaneuveraroundaconelinedcoursewithsharpcurves,slaloms,straightawaysandFghthandlingsituaFons.AllofthisisaccomplishedinasafeandcontrolledenvironmentwithonedriveroncourseataFme.Safetyistheprimaryfocusatanautocross.

Ohio Valley Austin - Healey Club Driver's Training / Gymkhana 2016
September3 (Saturday) - Rain or Shine
Location: Live Oak Vocational School - 5956 Buckwheat Road - Milford, OH 4515V2287. Exit # 57 from 1-275 and go northeast on Route 28. (towards Blanchester) use the bypass - Right on Buckwheat Road (@Circle K gas station) this is the nearest rest room and store.
Time: The main gate opens before 9:00 AM. Registration is the first 20 cars with up to 25 drivers. Preference may be given to Ohio Valley AHC members. The maximum is usually reached BEFORE 10:00 AM. Runs start as soon as possible. Glean up and awards about 3:30. The more help picking up cones and cleaning the earlier we leave.
Cost: $25.00 per Driver - Max - 25 drivers - spectators free! - Rain or Shine
Everyone will be required to sign a waiver and all drivers are required to work the course when not driving. Bring chairs and a cooler; there is shade available. No alcohol.
Required Equipment: A safe / functioning car (we will inspect it) any make or model, the cooler the better Helmets are required for drivers and passengers. There are usually loaners available.
Goal: "Fun & Family Oriented Gymkhana" Meaning - street legal tires driven to the event only (no tire changing is allowed); No trailered cars unless they arc vintage European or Japanese. We may give out awards for improvement over the day i.e., training.
This event is designed to be a safe, fun way to enjoy your automobile. No dangerous driving or recklessness will be tolerated. We operate near a residential section and ask that the exhaust system be street legal for noise. Regardless; we reserve the right to determine if it toooo loud. We want to come back next year.
We would like to see more vintage iron in 2015.... Remember - you are competing against yourself, not others * come out and have some fun with your car!
