• The proclamation of the Word of God is foundational to the Church’s mission. All persons need to have the Good News of Jesus Christ preached and presented in an effective and persuasive manner, so that they may grow in the gift of faith. In addition, the clear teaching of the Catholic Church based upon the Word of God needs to be presented in various ways within the parish community. (CFVP, 16)

Education/Faith Formation Mission of Saint Cecilia Parish

• Since the opening of Saint Cecilia School in September 1925, the School Community has been committed to the mission of Catholic education by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to all students and by preparing students for the reception of the sacraments. A dedicated faculty and staff, under the leadership of the Sisters, of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, work zealously to provide a strong Catholic identity, as well as a challenging academic environment that nurtures the religious, educational, physical, social, and emotional growth of the 21st century learners, preparing to be contributing members of the global community,

• The collaboration of parents and teachers as partners in the faith formation of the children is vital to the accomplishment of the mission of Catholic education. Parents are invited to take an active role in the religious education and sacramental preparation of their children. A vibrant Home and School Association invites parental support in the programs and activities of the school community.

Our Parish

• We are using the parish facilities – church and classrooms located in the school and by our signs of religious practices.

Part III- Adolescent and Youth Ministry

Goal 1 ~ Discipleship ~ empowering young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. They hunger to hear the Good News that finds response in discipleship.

Our parish nourishes this aspect for our youth by… providing the young people ages eleven through eighteen a youth ministry program. They are provided education/faith formation and work on service projects that provide the connection to discipleship.Our youth ministry program is the response of our Parish, Pastor and Community to the needs of our young people and a sharing of the unique gifts and talents that God has blessed them with.

Adolescent and Youth Ministry

Goal 2 ~ Connection ~ drawing young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community.

The way our parish nourishes this aspect for our youth is balanced between affective, behavioral and cognitive learning. Theologically our program fosters the Catholic Christian faith in three dimensions; trusting, believing and doing.

We build on the three dimensions by coming together as a group for discussions, faith sharing, service projects, social activities, prayer, religious events such as the Passion Play and monthly attendance at Mass.

Adolescent and Youth Ministry

Goal 3 ~ Gifts and Growth ~ fostering the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person

Our parish fosters this growth by providing opportunities to utilize their energy through activities that require physical movement. We have a very active Sport Program...a sport for almost everyone.

There are opportunities to form peer relationships and support through structured programs.

They may participate as altar servers, cantors, and lectures. We offer retreats and faith sharing and Eucharist.

They are involved in community service programs and each summer in Habitat for Humanity.
