President’s Report
‘The times, they are changin’…’ This year has seen significant changes for Noah’s, most notably, the transition from State funding to the NDIS. The costs of transition have been unavoidable, unrecoverable and significant. These costs are recognised in our Audited Reports and have been noted by the Auditor as one off costs relating to the change to a new business model for a large part of the organisation. We will continue, as we have always done, to work closely with Government at all levels and with stakeholders, to ensure the full range of services that our members enjoy and want. Our goal is always to provide services which are continually sustainable and enhanced. Thank you to all our sponsors, the Board members and volunteers, who are all such an integral part of our organisation. Special thanks to our Board Company Secretary Dr Richard Liu, for his untiring and proficient minuting secretarial services, and to our CEO Alice Lans and her wonderful Noah’s team, many of whom are long serving. Parents have repeatedly told us that what they want is a ‘one stop shop’ and while the introduction of the NDIS has somewhat attempted to disrupt this model, our challenge has been to keep this model alive for families, while still providing a choice of services to meet individual needs. We look forward to meeting this challenge in the year ahead. Colin Waller President

CEO’s Report This year marks the most significant period of change to our organisation in our 37-year history, through the impact of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and new Government funding models. In the words of Winston Churchill, “To improve is to change. To be perfect is to change often.” If this is indeed true, Noah’s is heading towards perfection! The introduction of the NDIS has un-doubtedly been one of our greatest opportunities and one of our greatest challenges to date. Much of our focus in 2017-18 has been on utilising this new model to maximise the quality of our ser-vices. At the start of this financial year we were announced as an Early Childhood Early Intervention Transition Provider, tasking us with the important job of helping over 800 children 0-6 years, transi-tion to the NDIS within a 12 months period. This brought with it a team restructure, significant amounts of training from the NDIS and an incredible amount of dedication from the staff involved in this process. With our Government funding diminishing each month, a reflection of the new NDIS model, we designed revised services that we could offer within the NDIS framework. Along with other disability service providers, our administration and finance capacity has had to increase significantly to deal with new systems. I am extremely proud to say that despite the challenges that major change has brought to our organisation, we have continued to provide high quality, evidence-based programs and to advocate strongly for the unique needs of children and families in the Shoalhaven and Illawarra. In the past 12 months, we have had over 450 new families accessing Noah’s Services, a true reflection that our services are increasingly relevant to children and young people navigating daily life at home, school and in their local communities. Some of our key highlights of the past year include our ‘It’s My Life’ Self-Advocacy Program and our ‘Let’s Include’ Special Interest Group under Early Childhood Australia, where Early Childhood Education providers collaborate, support each other and share ideas on best practice inclusion. Through all of this, I am incredibly grateful for the way each and every staff member at Noah’s has brought a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense of positivity to the changing times. I would like to give special thanks to our many volunteers, sponsors and supporters who we rely on so heavily to continue all of our programs and services. Our three biggest fundraising events, the Noah’s Challenge, the Berry Race Day (organised by the tireless Mary Evans) and the Shoalhaven Heads Golf Day (run by the staff at the Shoalhaven Heads Hotel), were all highly successful this year and helped to raise vital funds and maintain important links within our community. Our highly-skilled and experienced Board members who fill their role in a volunteer capacity, have governed with wisdom and integrity to ensure our services remain viable, high quality and relevant. I am very appreciative of their support and of the time and passion they give to Noah’s. The generosity of our community never ceases to amaze me and I am truly grateful for the contin-ued support of many individuals and groups. It is an honour to be part of an organisation that is achieving so much in the best interests of local children and families. Together we can continue to create community where all a children are given every opportunity to thrive. Alice Lans Chief Executive Officer

Making a difference by becoming a Kids Supporter …
The Kids Supporter program seeks individuals or organisations to sponsor a program at Noah’s Shoalhaven by making regular monthly donations
of $25 or more which we direct debit out of your bank account.
In return a newsletter is sent on a quarterly basis with updates on Noah’s Inclusion Services activities and programs as well as stories
about local families..
By becoming a Kids Supporter you will help reduce our waiting list so we can help as many children as possible.
Families will also be able to receive the best information they need to help give their kids the best
start possible.
And those in our community, who are too great to list and have donated $$, goods and
services for our fundraising events
