Paradox in spaceflight
• No other symptoms of elevated ICP
• Central and peripheral venous pressures are reduced
• IOP initially increases in spaceflight
• No known reason for hyperopic shift
Earth explanations
• Increased intracranial pressure (ICP)
• Elevated venous pressures (edema, choroidal folds, and shortening of axial length)
• Reduced intraocular pressure (IOP)
