Pastor’s Pen

La., being the hands of Jesus as they rebuild

homes from last year’s flood.

We have been soaking up the Son as we gath-

ered on Wednesday nights in the Friendship

Sunday School Class to lift up in prayer those

who are sick, hurting, weak and poor. Also, we

have been studying our Christian family tree as

we learn about other denominations, asking

God to show us what we can learn from our

cousins in the faith that can help us better follow

Jesus.

And of course we continue to gather to worship

every Sunday morning in the chapel and sanctu-

ary so that we can bask in the Son, soaking in

His love, His healing, His hope, His power, His

wisdom, and His perspective.

In closing, I hope you enjoy every minute of your

summer. I hope you are able to take a vacation

from work and school and find time to rest. But

there is one vacation I am praying you don’t

take this summer, and that is a vacation from

church. Even if you’re out of town, find a

church to

worship

with and

soak up the

life giving

light of the

Son.

Know that

Judy and I

love you

and are

praying that

God will

richly bless

you this

summer.

I’ll see you this Sunday at church as we bask in

the Son, who has given us the marvelous gift of

freedom.

Yours in Christ .

Pastor Jerry

On A Mission Jacki and Hunter Smith will spend a week

this summer in Haiti bringing the Gospel of

Christ to more than 300 youth.

Jacki and Hunter Smith will leave for Cap-Haitien,

Haiti, this summer where they will spend a week

bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the youth of

Haiti.

Last summer, Hunter spent five weeks living on the

compound of the One Mission Society. One of the

couples in the mission run the Cowman School,

which is a school attend primarily by the children of

Haiti’s leaders. She helped them get ready for the

school year and then assisted in primarily preschool

classrooms once the school began.

When Hunter returns in July, this time with her moth-

er Jacki, the two will share the Gospel during the

Youth Conference for the Emmaus Fellowship of

Churches. Three to five hundred youth are expected

to attend the conference.

Former Millbrook FUMC Pastor Steve MacInnis and

his wife Tish are coordinating the youth conference.

The team will include 14 people, including a delega-

tion from Mulder Memorial United Methodist Church

in Wetumpka. Steve and Tish were accepted as One

Mission Society missionaries on August 31, 2012,

and assigned to Haiti as itinerant missionaries. Steve

travels to Haiti four to five times each year, spending

three and four months out of the year there.
