premiseExplore the idea of the landscape being a laboratory for creativity and eventually develop a design concept for a landscape installation at Evergreen Museum & Library in Baltimore.

processI was intrigued by the abandoned, overgrown site where greenhouses once stood. I decided to design an installation that would be an echo of the site’s former identity - thus creating the “ghost” concept. My original concept called for multiple arbors and later three greenhouse structures, and underneath each would be a garden contrasting with the surrounding overgrowth and emphasizing the haunted, ghostly nature of the installation.

In Spring 2012, this design was chosen to be among the repertoire of designs to be built for the “Sculpture at Evergreen 7” series. In changing and refining of the design, the number of greenhouses was reduced to one to create a more powerful statement. Planting design and selection as well as construction of all installations took place that spring. A total of 10 out of 18 designs were featured in the exhibit.
