    1 Overview

Before installing the ANM2000, you need to be familiar with the ANM2000s working mode, and to install the software matching the working mode, so as to ensure that the installation can be completed successfully.

This chapter includes the following contents:

Working mode Configuration requirements Installation flow diagrams

  • e-Fim ANM2000 Broadband Access Network Management System Installation Manual (Based on Windows)

    1-2 Version: B

    1.1 Working Mode

At present, the ANM2000 uses the Client end-Server end working mode.

When the network maintenance engineers are far from both the access equipment and the network management system server, this Client end-Server end working mode can be used to access the server via the Client end for achieving the purpose of managing the equipment. In this case, the ANM2000s Client end and Sever end can be installed on one computer, or respectively on two computers. When both the Client end and server end are installed on a computer, this is also called a stand-alone mode.

    1.2 Configuration Requirements

    1.2.1 Requirements of Hardware Configuration

The requirements of the hardware configuration for the ANM2000s Server end depend on the network scale. The detailed requirements are listed in Table 1-1.

    5 FAQs

This chapter introduces the solutions to common problems in the installation of the Informix11.5 and the ANM2000.

This chapter includes the following contents:

5.1 How to Handle the Invalid Configuration File

    Question

The etc\ONCONFIG. instance name file under the Informix installation directory has been modified, but the configuration file is still invalid. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

The probable reason of this is described as follows:

The system only uploads the ONCONFIG. instance name file during the

initialization operation. You can click to start the Informix IDS service

normally, but in this case, the ONCONFIG. instance name file cannot be uploaded.

The correct start method is described as follows: Double-click the Informix IDS service, input iy in the start parameter item, and then click Start.

5.2 How to Handle the Long-Period No Response from the ANM2000

    Question

During the network management operation, the ANM2000 does not respond in a long period. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

The probable reason of the long-period no response from the ANM2000 is that the Informix service stops after it is started. The configuration parameters of the database can influence certain resources of the database; if the configuration parameters of the database have errors, certain resources may be inadequate, and this can lead to the condition that the service cannot be started normally.

Use the notebook or the UE to open the onconfig.ol_test file under C: \informix\etc, and check various configuration items in this file according to Table 5-1.

Table 5-1 Parameter values in the ONCONFIG file

5.3 How to Handle the Inadequate Disk Space

    Question

When the operator tries to create the database tablespace, the system gives a prompt that the disk space is inadequate. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

After the installation of the ANM2000, you can execute the following command to create the small-size / medium-size / large-size tablespace respectively. The created tablespace occupies the disk space of 5 G, 15 G, and 73 G respectively.

    D:\AEMS\Server\andb\createspaces s t|-m|-l

You should select to create the suitable tablespace on demand according to Table 5-2.

Table 5-2 The parameters for creating the tablespace

    Parameter Value Size Mode Needed Harddisk Space Management Capacity -t Small 5 G 100 OLTs -m Medium 15 G 200 OLTs -l Large 73 G 500 OLTs

When the disk space is inadequate, you can select to create a relatively smaller database tablespace, or replace the harddisk.

5.4 How to Handle the Informix Database Not Installed

    Question

When the operator tries to install the ANM2000, the system gives a prompt that the Informix database is not installed. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

You need to install the Informix database before installing the ANM2000. For the detailed operation steps, please refer to Chapter 2 Installation of the Informix Database.

5.5 How to Handle the Connection Failure of the ANM2000

    Question

When the operator tries to start the ANM2000, the system gives a prompt as shown in the following figure. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

You can handle this problem as follows:

  • 5 FAQs

    Version: B 5-7

    1. Select Start All Programme IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.50 ol_test, and then input onstat to check whether the database is started normally.

If the system displays On-Line, this indicates that the database is started normally. If the database is not started normally, please check whether the onconfig.ol_test file under C:\informix\etc is configured correctly according to Table 5-1.

    2. Check whether the md.ini file under D:\AEMS\Server \ ini is configured correctly.

5.6 How to Handle the Tablespace Creation Failure

    Question

When trying to install the ANM2000, the operator fails to create the tablespace. How to handle this problem?

    Answer

This problem is probably be caused by the authorization limit. You can log in ol_test as an Informix user, and then create the tablespace again.

    1. Select Start All Programme IBM Informix Dynamic Server 11.50 ol_test, and then right-click ol_test to select Run Mode.

    2. In the Run Identify dialog box, select Following User; set the username to Informix and the password to Anms2k, and then click OK.

    Answer

You can handle this problem as follows:

    1. Right-click Network, select Properties to open the Network and Sharing Center window.

    2. Select Manage Network Connections to open the Network Connections dialog box.

5.8 How to Handle the Data Exporting / Importing Failure

    Question

When needing to export / import the configuration data file (such as for the upgrade of the ANM2000), how to handle the data exporting / importing failure?

    Answer

When exporting / importing the configuration data file, the ANM2000 needs to use a temporary tablespace; if the tablespace in the database is inadequate, the data exporting / importing failure may occur.

If the ANM2000 version has been modified, the format of the configuration data may also change; in this case, you need to convert the data format.
