Bonobos is a brand that tries to bring better fitting clothes to guys who want to be attractive but hate to shop. This pop up store design is inspired by Bonobos’ emphasis on social interaction with cus-tomers such as style ninja for online shoppers and store guide for conventional stores. Bonobos pays great amount of attention on making the shopping experience rather social than commercial.

The design intent is to create an interactive shopping environment for male customers by using both tech-nology and in-store features. To create such an en-vironment, the Cybertecture mirror provides access to online social networks anytime in the store. The modular fitting rooms attract other male customer’s attention, and create a T-stage effect in the store which enriches the overall shopping experiences, and enhances social engagement between male customers while they shop in the store.

How it works

The modular fitting room suspends from the ceil-ing. When customer needs to use the fitting room, he pushes the han-dle up so the fitting room descents down.

1 The LED lights in the han-dle will be right above the opening of the fitting room to provide neces-sary lighting needed for changing cloth.

2 The interior of the fitting room is aluminum finish, which pro-vides customer a blurry view of himself. The customer needs to come out from the fitting room to the Cybertec-ture mirror wall in order to get a clear view of the cloth he just tried on.

3 The idea is to create a T-stage effect in the store; using customers as manne-quin to attract potential clients’ atten-tion and advertising for the products at the same time.

GEO WINE EXHIBITSANTA CLARA WINE MUSEUM

The Santa Clara Wine Museum holds exhibitions that educates visitors about wines; different types of wines, how wines are made, etc. There are 22 wineries in the region; each of the wineries has their own vineyards. The GEO wine exhibit is designed to help visitors to gain more knowledge about the geo-graphic information of the origins of wines.

The GEO wine exhibit is inspired by the geographic configuration of the vineyards in Santa Clara County. The shapes of the wood slabs are built to match the shape of the vineyards of each winery in that area. The glass tubes installed in each pieces contain the wine made from the grapes of corresponding vine-yards.

How it works

Pick up the cutout piece, there is a tablet attached to the inner part. Choose the infor-mation you want to know about, and then absorb the knowledge!

Slabs are movable, you can pull it out 2’ from the main piece.

TUNNEL VASE

The Tunnel Vase was inspired by Chromatex.me, an installation done by softlab. It is constructed by 5,000 unique color panels which form gradient when assembled. It has an entry which points at people walking carelessly on the Lower East Side of Man-hattan. Its organic shape attracts people’s attention and curiosity, but one could never figure out the entire form from one view point.

The Tunnel Vase is designed for potted plants. Soil sets at the bottom of the vase with plant seeds in it. After a period of time the flowers and grass will grow out from the holes, creating a dynamic visual experi-ence: the complete manner of the plants is not visible from one view point. This vase has been selected by Real San Fratello Architects and it is being sold on their website EmergingObjects.com.

GILROY HOT SPRINGSGILROY

The Gilroy Hot Springs is located in an oak forest, about 10 miles northeast of Gilroy. The new Gilroy Hot Spring consists of using the existing concrete walls to create three separate buildings and an un-derground surface. The design intent is to create an interchanging environment for the visitors. As the visitors walk through the separate buildings, the in-terchange between going inside and outside allows them to enjoy a variety of experiences. The different types of windows in the bath house give guest dis-tinct framed views of the landscape; large window, or extended flat openings only can be seen at certain

level.

The existing building has been abandoned for years. The site is surrounded by endless greeneries and fresh breath, which is an ideal place for those who want to escape from fast-past workplace. natural lighting diagram

The new Gilroy Hot Springs consists of three parts: the new wooden structure, the existing concrete walls, and the walking platform. The first building is the reception area, second building is the bath house, third building is the changing and bathroom area, and the underground surface is where the massage rooms are located. The bath house includes three different temperature baths: hot, cold, and temperate. A swimming pool is located next to the bath house. The frosted glass walkway helps to direct visitors through the facility, and it illuminates at night.

Open and closed storage is offered for different types of resources. Panels are kept low to increase communication and connections.

One size panel is used which creates a smaller kit of parts and is easier to reconfigure in the future.

Easily expanded and contracted. The 120 degree worksurface allows the user orient themselves to signal availability.

When facing out the user becomes more approachable. For more focused and concentrated work the user can face inward.
