WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS-GREEN DAYThis music video is similar to mine as it is a performance and

narrative based video. It is a slow, moving song, that slowly builds to a big climax at the end. The narrative is very sad and depressing, similar to mine. The target audience of the video would be similar to mine as the protagonists are young and fresh faced. Due to the romantic setting at the beginning which slowly turned into a war setting as the song gets more intense. This is done to reflect the tension of will he/won’t he return to see his love. While mine does not have the same romance narrative it does however follow a similar pattern of tension building and being alone.

The performance setting is in the war torn area giving a emotional feeling to the performance it self. The use of black and grey shows this emotion of depression and darkness. I will use black and white in my music video as the effect it give is not one of joy.

THE A TEAM- ED SHEERAN

This song is inspiration for my own music video as it follows a very similar story. Apart from the drugs, my protagonist is all alone and is depressed with his lifestyle as well. The protagonist in the video is also alone and lost in the big world. This video is solely based on narrative instead of performance as well. The video is shot entirely in black and white to give it the effect of sadness and loneliness. It makes everything depressing and emotional.

The video has a circular narrative for example it starts how it finishes. I will want a similar narrative to this as it suits what I'm going for. The lyrics used in the song reflect the character’s moods in the video. This is said by Goodwin in that the lyrics reflect the video.

MAD WORLD- GARY JULES

This song is a cover of the original tears for fears song. However it slows down the tempo and says the words a lot softer. This gives the song a whole new meaning to what it did before. My song ‘Behind Blue Eyes’ is similar as it was originally done by ‘The Who’ but was covered by punk rock band ‘Limp Bizkit’. They slowed it down in the same way and changed the way the song is seen. The video for ‘Mad World’ is sad as it is slow. However it does have a Christmas theme with the decorations the artist is shown in. While just a performance video and not both it still adds power to it purely through the artists expressions.
