24 GOLFDOM

1 bHERE is the rough pre1iminary idea

of the model small city golf club-house that GOLFDOM is trying to

help one of the model communiti of thsouth achieve.

As the floor plan and appearanc nowstands it Is open to plenty of criticism, and it all will be welcome. We invite clubofficials to send us th ir ideas of betteringthis plan so a final sch m may b work-xl out in a mann r that will s rv as aguide to the build rs of futur .luhhousesin the smaHer citi s. The building costis to run approximat ly 30,000.

It will b(l not d that lots of spa .e is1 ft for a . m i-open dining nor ih as theclimate for wh ich this clu hhou 'e is intend-'d will permit this detail of design. Con-rid ring its load the kitchen, we believe, will b roomy enough to satisfy the man-ager and th kitch n rtatf'. The card roomhown adjac nt to th men's lock r-roorn

and kitch n will mak a splenoid l Bthhole.

Location and sizp of th 1 pro shou shouldcare for th 1 m srchandtstn T and s rvlc 1 d '.manda.

Th worn n's locker-room is Ioca d inthe central part of th building, on thond floor. Plenty of light, air and roomare to be allowed th women, which isomething unusual in the avera mallcity clubhouse. The great r interest bingshown by women in golf these day andthe consequent increas in patronage fromwomen, mak it wts to giv th m allpossibl attractions.

This clubhous may be built in s .tionsas th financial capahi liti s of th lubpermit, the loung bing built as the lassection. In this way th club will get,wh n its building work is done, a modernand handsom building, in rela t d deta il sinst ad of a jumhle of a structur .

Wr-it GOLFDO.M what you think of t.hisplan, and let us knov what f ature youwould alter, add or subtra t. Th is mt.er-prise, so far as we know, is th first at-tempt to set a standard for a small ityclubhouse that will 1)(' a model :1. a con-ven ience, business as ct. and thing orh auty 101' t.ho club within whose meansncb a clubhous may b built.

Again some "snooping" did the dubsorne good when the state widened theh l zhway by th clubhouse.
