Among the stars SIZE: 90 x 70 cm YARN: Scheepjes Spirit nr 301, Orca 9 skeins and nr 304, Lion 2 skeins. HOOK: 4,0 and 4,5 ACCESSORIES: Scissor, tapestry needle to fasten your loose ends.




STITCHTUTORIAL

ch – chain

st – stitch

slst – slipstitch

chsp - chainspace

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

ne - next

stst – starstitch, are worked in two rows (se tutorial on the last pages)

bl – back loop

GOOD TO KNOW:

The Poncho is made of two rectangels, that we sew or crochet together in the end.

Remember to change your hook (up one size) on the starstitch rows.




PATTERN:

Start with the grey yarn and hook 4,5 chain 170.

Row 1: Hook 4,0. 1 hdc in third ch from the hook, 1 hdc in every st. Turn. (169 hdc)

Row 2 - 16: Work in bl only. Ch2, 1 hdc in every st. Cut the yarn and turn.

Row 17: Yellow yarn, hook 4,5. First row of stst. Turn. (84 stst)

Row 18: The second row of stst. Turn.

Row 19: Grey yarn, hook 4,0. Start with a standing sc or ch1 and make a sc in same st, 1 sc in every st. Turn.

Row 20: Ch1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in every st. Cut the yarn and turn.


Row 22: The second row of stst. Turn.

Row 23: First row of stst. Turn.

Row 24: Second row of stst. Turn.




Row 25: Grey yarn, hook 4,0. Start with a standing sc or ch1 and make a sc in same st, 1 sc in every st. Turn.

Row 26: Ch1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in every st. Cut the yarn and turn.


Row 28: Second row of stst. Turn.

Row 29: Grey yarn, hook 4,0. Ch2, 1 hdc in every st. Turn. (169 hdc)

Row 30 – 105: Work in bl only. Ch2, 1 hdc in every st. Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Make one more rectangle.

Place a stitch marker in st 62 from both sides, you shall have 45 st left between the marks.

Place the rectangles on top of each other with the right side facing against each other. Crochet or sew them together from the edge to the mark on both sides.

Starstitch tutorial In this tutorial I have an odd number of stitches just like in the poncho above.

Row 1: Ch3,

put the hook through the second ch from the hook, pick up a loop,




Through the third ch, pick up a loop, (3 loops on the hook),

put the hook through the starting st, pick up a loop (4 loops on the hook),

and through next 2 st, pick up a loop after both, (6 loops on the hook).




Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.

Close with a ch.

In the next star you use the ch you just made (the eye).

Put the hook through the eye, pick up a loop (2 loops on the hook),




put the hook between the 4th and the 5th leg on previous star, pick up a loop (3 loops on the hook),

put the hook in same st as the 5 leg on previous star, pick up a look (4 loops on the hook),

pick up one loop from the next two st (6 loops on the hook), pull through all the loops, close with a ch, repeat until you’ve reached the last st.




If you have an odd number of stitches (as it is in the poncho) you finish the row with a hdc in the same st as you picked up the last loop in the last star.

(If you have an even number of stitches you will have one stitch left, finish the row with a hdc2tog over the same st as you picked up the last loop and the last st).

Turn your work.

Ch2, 1 hdc in the first “eye”, continue with 2 hdc in every ”eye”, finish with 1 hdc in the 3rd ch.




You now have a beautiful row of starstitches J
