Last Sunday, Delhi remained indoors most of the time. Not because it was
Sunday but it was the first day when the city shivered. The winter has arrived.
The winter that was supposed to be here in north India lot earlier today sur-
prised many with its sudden arrival. Those who were waiting to put on that
half sweater suddenly wrapped themselves into heavy coats. It was the time
to raise a toast to one of the most beauti-
ful seasons of the year. Tea with Pakoras,
longer stay in bed, and all kind of comfort.
The weather of Udaipur somewhat remains
same as that in Delhi. Joys of winter are
endless which come with a simple condition--the condition is that you have
a home which is packed from all sides. Yes, this simple luxury that we take
for granted is a super luxury for millions. We sitting at the comfort of home
wait for the winters but these people with homeless life hate it. They hate it
badly. We just need to alter our lifestyle to match with the season but these
homeless people have to face more and pinching struggle.
You get shocked to see your kid wandering bare feet inside the cosy room
and these people have to see if their kids have at least something to cover
their bare bodies. This is same for a kid of few months of few years. We,
struggle to find a matching sweater and they hardly have one.
The idea of writing and sharing this all with you is not to remind you how for-
tunate you are, because you know that very well. The entire motive of shar-
ing this comparative picture to you is to suggest you that warm clothes,
sweaters, old blankets, and quilts that you are sure will not suit or help you,
do discard them right away. Do not keep your closets occupied. Set that
space free. Now pack up these discarded clothes in a small bag and then
lock this up into the boot space of your car or simply pick one of these and
tuck into the basket or bag of your two wheeler.
Now, whenever you go out, keep an eye on deprived people who would need
that one warm cloth the most. And feel glad and great that you have done
something for which God will smile at you.
This is just one way you can easily help the real needy ones. Many of us let
our maids have all the things that we do not use. It's good and indeed is a
great help but at times we must look around too to see if there is someone
who needs our help badly and more than the maid does. Giving to a maid
since is an easy way to donate, we offer all what we have to her only. But
help itself is a way to serve God. And despite we have a temple at home,
we go out to a temple to visit the God. Similarly to meet the real needy ones
and help them directly, you will have to step out.
Many of us write a cheque to an NGO or simply order a blanket or two to an
organization and feel that we have done it. It helps indeed. But many peo-
ple are already doing that. Still when you go out any night after 9 P.M any
wintry night, you will find many deprived ones sleeping on the footpath sans
any covering. If you just cover one of them personally and quietly, the per-
son will directly be benefitted and will open a million wishes to you. There
is no need to ensure he or she sees you. But that feeling of covering a shiv-
ering body with a warm blanket is unmatched. Try and then feel that warmth
forever. Happy Giving!

Mashelkar, Former Director
General of the Council of Scientific
& Industrial Research (CSIR) said,
"I heartily congratulate the
grandaunts of the day. We must
realize that we are entering into
a challenging VUCA world which
is volatile, uncertain, complex and
ambiguous. MNIT as an institu-
tion over the years has fully
equipped it's students with skills
and tools to deal with the chal-
lenges of the world confidently.
'Education in innovation' and
'Innovation in education' are the
dire needs of the hour. World class
universities will need to achieve
this twin goal and MNIT Jaipur
must have a dream to become a
world class institution with seam-
less integration of education,
research and innova t ion .
Education disseminates known
knowledge and Research cre-
ates new knowledge. 'Ambience
without Ambition and Ambition
without Ambience has no conse-
quences. MNIT has one of the best
campus which is fully equipped
to create bright ambitious young
talent for the nation."
Padma Vibhushan Professor
R.A Mashelkar also elaborated
on three pillars for creating world
class universities which includ-
ed, excellence, autonomy and
g o v e r n a n c e . H e s a i d ,
"Excellence- where mere teach-
ing without research is futile.
Uncompromising excellence in
both teaching and research is
important. Autonomy- where
autonomy or flexibility must flow
across the university from teach-
ers to students. Governance-
where governance structure of
Universities must change with
changing times. Transparent reg-
ulatory mechanism that ensures
accountability will instill a sense
of confidence in the academic
community and the society as
well." He shared his 10 golden
rules to success such as a)Your
aspirations are your possibilities
b) Be limitless in your imagina-
tion as there is no limite to human
endurance, human achievement
and human imagination c)There
is no substitute for hard work
d)There is no instant success e)
Success is not an accident f) Do
not wait for opportunities to know
the door, if the opportunity does
not knock, build a door g)
Remember that; Innovator is the
one who sees what everyone else
sees but thinks what no one else
think h) Continue to be creative
i) Remember, innovator is the one
who does not know that it can-
not be done j) Every India must
stand for innovation and not inhi-
bition or imitation.
Padma Shri Dr. Upendra Kaul,
Executive Director - Academics
& Research (Cardiology), Fortis
Escorts Heart Institute said, "I feel
honored and privileged to be invit-
ed for the 10th Convocation cer-
emony at MNIT, Jaipur. Being a
graduate from an esteemed insti-
tution such as MNIT, which has a
track record of repute, puts a
tremendous responsibility on the
shoulders of this young talent. It
is important that one must not for-
get to serve the people of their
own nation, living at the bottom
of the pyramid and uplift their lives
through concepts of smart cities
which have been declared by our
hon'ble Prime Minister. It is also
important that one must not neglect
the sectors already neglected
such as healthcare, education
and must build in-house technol-
ogy, infrastructure and retain the
talent that has been driven off-
shore for better opportunities. The
graduating talent must invest in
education, healthcare, R&D and
create the right atmosphere for
positive growth."
Prof. Upendra Kaul conclud-
ed by mentioning that, Work-Life-
Balance is utmost important. To
maintain these one must take
care of both the body and mind
which is most of the times neglect-
ed. He concluded with a teach-
ing from Swami Vivekanand,
'Teach yourself, teach everyone,
his/her real nature, call upon the
sleeping soul and see how it
awakes. Power will come, glory
will come, goodness will come,
purity will come and everything
that is excellent will come when
this sleeping soul is roused to self-
conscious activity which is in the
interest of the well-being of the
members of the society.'
Prof. I.K Bhatt, Director,
Malaviya National Institute of
Technology said, "I thank Padma
Vibhushan Prof. R.A Mashelkar
and Padmashri Dr. Upendra Kaul
to take time out of their sched-
ules and make their presence at
the MNIT's 10th Convocation
Ceremony. It is a prestigious
occasion where such eminent
personalities have come togeth-
er to not just grace the occasion
but their presence has also moti-
vated our students genuinely.
The institute has recruited facul-
ty from across the globe having
mer i t and th is has drawn

to get new opportunities to inter-
act and create linkages for future
collaborations. Our faculty dele-
gations at MNIT have presented
various research papers in coun-
tries such as USA, Canada,
France, Taiwan, Korea and
Singapore. The institute's tremen-
dous focus has always been on
research and excellence in aca-
demics which has led various
global universities to sign up for
collaborations and MoUs in the
near future."
Prof. I K Bhat further added,
"The Malaviya National Institute
of Technology has various plans
and up-coming projects such as
the Vivekanand Lecture Theatre
Complex which will be opera-
tional in the next 2-3 months. The
MNIT will be building over 200 res-
idential accommodations to
accommodate new faculty mem-
bers who will be recruited. The
institute will be constructing a
complete sports complex in the
near future with an estimated pro-
ject cost of over Rs. 20 crore. We
at the MNIT shall strive to upgrade
our standards, create an envi-
ronment of learning, innovation
and entrepreneurship to provide
excellence and aim to produce
useful talent for our nation."
