ANGEL-IGGLE©
This is heaven, thought Angel-Iggle.
It was a beautiful day. The clouds were light and fluffy, floating gently in the bright sunshine.
And today was her birthday.
S She was on her way to school and looking forward to the end of the day when her mummy would be at home waiting for her.
Then, she knew, she would have a wonderful birthday party. www.igglebooks.com

“Oh well,” thought Angel-Iggle as she hopped from cloud to cloud, “school will soon be over.”
She had only just learned to fly and had great fun gliding.
“If only I could have that really special present,” she thought.
Can you guess what she wanted?

No.
Don’t be silly, she could glide with her wings.
What Angel-Iggle really wanted was a beautiful golden harp.
She did so love music that the Mus-Iggle angels played.
But she knew that she couldn’t have one, as golden harps are very rare indeed. It takes the gold from six halos to make one string for a golden harp and there were very few spare halos around!

PHYS-IGGLE©
Phys-Iggle was keeping fit he was working out in his gym.
Five minutes lifting weights, five minutes on the exercise bike, five minutes skipping and twenty-five press-ups to finish.
He took a shower.
As usual Mrs Phys-Iggle had left his tooth brush with just the right amount of toothpaste, you see he was so strong that a gentle squeeze on the toothpaste tube would squirt toothpaste all over the floor.
Mrs Phys-Iggle didn’t like toothpaste all over the floor.

Phys-Iggle had always been strong for as long as he could remember.
On his first day at school his mother had told him to catch the bus.
And he did.
He caught the school bus!
Now that was silly don’t you think?

Phys-Iggle put on his training shoes.
“I’m off for a jog,” he said, as he closed the front door and set off down the road.
As he went down the front path and closed the gate he was very careful not to break it.
The morning sun was waking up, the birds were singing and Phys-Iggle felt good.
“I feel like the strongest person in the world,” he thought.

NAUT-IGGLE©
Naut-Iggle woke up and yawned.
It was a dark November morning.
Outside the leaves were cracking as they ran in circles to escape the loud roar of the wind as it chased them.
The trees were bending low whispering to each other. They didn’t like the wind in this mood and they didn’t like the rain lashing them so hard and taking the last of their leaves away.
It was the sort of morning when most of us like to snuggle back down in bed.

He had sailed to America where he saw hot-dogs!
No.
Not the sort that bark ... silly, the sort that you eat with ketchup.

Naut-Iggle cycled to the lifeboat station as quickly as he could.
The wind whistled and pushed him along, the leaves raced with him and the rain thumped him hard on his back.
The lifeboat was waiting.
He ran up the steps and climbed aboard.

MAG-IGGLE©
Vroo-oom ... Vroo-oom ... Vroo-oom ... “Get me down ... Get me down ... Get me down.” Mag-Iggle smiled and sat reading a large book of magic potions and spells. She can stay up there for another hour, he thought. It won’t harm her. It might teach her a lesson.

Looking through the big window into the garden he could see Myst-Iggle, his mother- in-law, flying round and round.
She was becoming an old witch, he thought. She was smaller than she used to be, her long nails broke easily and her hair had gone grey.
Still, she was a harmless old witch, even if she did make his life difficult at times.
Mag-Iggle smiled. His mother-in-law had always muddled up her magic spells for as long as he could remember.

It had always felt broom-sick since it was a kitten.
Myst-Iggle had tried everything to make it better.
It was a strange cat, but then magic cats usually are.
It didn’t chase mice or birds.
What do you think it chased?

Twenty-four ... 24.
“That reminds me of a nursery rhyme,” said her mother, “four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.”
“When the pie was opened the birds began to sing.”
“Oooh. That’s terrible,” said Arithmet-Iggle and she opened the window and shouted to the birds to fly away.
And they did.
One, two, three, four ... every one, all twenty-four. They all flew away.

Did she fall down?
Bump ... “One.”
Bump ... “Two.”
Bump ... “Three.”
No she jumped down the three steps and ran to the pond.
Arithmet-Iggle knew just how many fish were in the pond and just how many ducks would be swimming on it. She had counted them so often.
Four ducks and a dozen fishes.
