Occupation prepares a plan to tighten control over Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa

The Hebrew newspaper, “Haaretz”, unveiled on Thursday (1/1), a com-prehensive plan presented recently by the Israeli police to Prime Minis-ter Benjamin Netanyahu, to ensure tighteniging Israeli control over the occupied city of Jerusalem in gen-eral, and Al-Aqsa Mosque in par-ticular.

The newspaper said that 1156 ad-ditional police officers are needed to be recruited so to implement this plan. It also mentioned including the establishment of two new police stations, along with the deployment of joint security units of the “rapid intervention” and “secret police” forces. The newspaper added that preliminary estimates indicate that this plan would cost a budget esti-mated at 600-700 million shekels (154-180 million dollars), which would cost to recruit new members to the police about the amount of 150 million shekels ($ 38 million).

According to “Haaretz”, the plan includes the division of East Jerusa-lem into three areas, where in every area a police station works and be responsible for police affairs. The plan also includes promoting held devices in Al-Aqsa Mosque through the monument magnetic gates at the gates of Al-Aqsa.

The newspaper said that because the submission date of the elections was moved forward, it was not possible to implement the three stages at once and so decided to start the first phase at a cost of about 100 million shekels ($ 25 million), so that the implementation of the plan occur in three phases; the first phase to be implemented immediately, the second phase will be held after 6 months, and the third after a year from now.

For the first time since the occupation of the city in 1967, the Israeli occupation forces closed Al-Aqsa Mosque

in front of the congregations, and it was in Al Qadr night in the month of Ramadan, the last; the mosque was raided by 13750 settlers and 2070sol-diers through 2014.The Minister of Awqaf, Joseph Adeis, said that what happened in Jerusa-lem in 2014 of the unprecedented escalation is only the process of oblit-erating the Arab identity of the city and Judaizing its urban, religious, cultural and economic sides. Adeis added that at the time in which the Is-raeli government is pumping huge sums to invest in Jerusalem, the Arab and Muslim support for the city and its citizens is almost negligible. The Minister of Awqaf requested Arab and Islamic media to allocate an open media day ‘to expose the practices and violations of the occupation in the occupied Jerusalem. On his part, the Secretary General of the Islamic-Christian Commission, Hanna Issa, said that Israeli practices in Jerusalem do not differenti-ate between Muslims and Christians, pointing out that these measures pushed the majority of Christians to immigration, where the number of Christians currently in the city is just five thousand people, down from 27 thousand before two decades.
