Alnet Systems DVR System Remote Connection Setup:

Follow these steps to connect to your Alnet Systems DVR Server on a Broadband internet connection from a Remote PC. A, Get the internal IP address of the server 1. B. Now open the Configuration of your Router (you will have to consult the users manual for your router). Forward TCP Ports 8999, 9000, 9001 and 80 to the IP address you received above.

(Since Each Router is different, we will not be able to assist you with this step…please consult the user’s manual or manufacturer of your router for assistance in forwarding a port.)

This is an example of a LinkSys Router’s Forwarding configuration page. Yours may be the same or different depending on the type of router you have. Notice the IP address on the right of the configuration is for the Internal IP for the DVR Server that you found through step A. Your configuration will probably be similar to this one.

D. On the DVR Server, Register your IP Address FREE with Alnet to receive your remote connection Address. (Note: this can be used with Static or Dynamic IP Addresses)

1. Go to the Menu Bar of the DVR Server

a. Select “Tools” b. Click on “Register

Domain” Note: Domain Registration is a free service provided for customers of Alnet Systems and will give you an address like “yourname.vdr-s.com” to use for remote connection to your DVR Server

2. Type in the name you want to use for your connection in the “Domain Name” Box.

3. Enter your Personal

4. Click on “Register” to complete the registration Process

E. Now you must enable Remote Connections on the DVR Server to Permit users to connect remotely.

1. On the Left side of the Screen, Click the “Network Settings Icon”

2. Type in a Name for the Server in the “Server Name” Box

3. Click on the “Dynamic IP

Address” button to enable IP Address Updating

4. Click the “Enabled” button in

the Lower right. F. Now install the VDR-C Client Software onto your PC at the remote location After installation, start the Alnet Client Software by double-left-clicking on the VDR-C Icon located on your Desktop or in the Start Menu.

2. Click on the “Connect” Button, and a properties window will open

3. Type in your Server

Address into the “Server address” box (Note: This will be the same address registered previously)

4. Type in your Login

and Password for your User Account on the DVR Server

5. Press “Connect” to

begin connection.

Once connected, the Remote Client View looks and functions exactly like the VDR-S Server application

Right Click on any of the camera views, and select “Display Mode” then “Preview” to open up Preview Mode, which can be resized and set to stay in the foreground to watch your cameras, while still writing emails, or using other programs. (see Preview Mode below)

Preview Mode: Allows you to see your cameras in a small window,

while still using your PC for other tasks.

Consult the VDR-C User’s Manual for more instructions on operation of the VDR-C client application.

Note: If you have a Dynamic IP Address Remote Connection, your external IP address will change from time to time…if you have registered your Dynamic IP with Alnet as shown in the instructions above, the name you received will automatically update to your newly issued dynamic IP address.
