CLIMATE Climate encompasses the statistics

values on the elements of the weather in

a region over a representative period:

temperature, humidity, pressure, wind and precipitation. These values

are obtained by collecting systematic and homogeneous meteorological

information for periods which are considered sufficiently representative

of 30 years or more, as indicated F. J. Monkhouse These times need to

be longer in subtropical and temperate zones than in the tropics,

especially in the equatorial belt, where the climate is more stable and

less variable with respect to meteorological parameters. Climate

change is a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution

of weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of

years. It may be a change in average weather conditions, or in the

distribution of weather around the average conditions

WEATHER

Significant progress has been made in recent years cleaning up outdoor

air pollution in the U.S. Between 1970 and 2004, total emissions of the

six major air pollutants regulated by the Environmental Protection

Agency (EPA) dropped by 54 percent. This is particularly impressive

when noted that the gross domestic product increased 187 percent,

energy consumption increased 47 percent, and U.S. population grew by

40 percent during the same time, proof that economic growth and

environmental protection do go hand in hand. However, air pollution

remains a serious threat to public health and the environment. Outdoor

air pollution in the U.S. due to particulate pollution alone was estimated

by the EPA The weather is all around us, all the time. It is an important

part of our lives and one that we cannot control. Instead the weather

often controls how and where we live, what we do, what we wear and

what we eat. Someone who studies the weather is called a

meteorologist. Weather predictions are made by forecasters who you

see on television.

Weather is made up of different things. Click on the different types of

weather above to find out more about them and how they can be

measured.

ATMOSPHERE

An Atmosphere is a layer of gases that may surround a material body of

sufficient mass, and that is held in place by the gravity of the body. An

atmosphere may be retained for a longer duration, if the gravity is high

and the atmosphere's temperature is low. The atmosphere is essential

for the life as what his alterations have a great repercussion in the man

and other alive beings and, in general, in the whole planet. It is an

extraordinarily complex way and the situation becomes even more

complicated and difficult to study when him is added emission of human

origin in great quantity, since it is happening in these last decades.

Our activity, even the most normal and daily, originates pollution. When

we use electricity, means of transport, metals, plastic or paintings; when

there are consumed food, medicines or products of cleanliness; when

the heating is ignited or the food or the water warms up; etc. Pollutant

substances take place, directly or indirectly.

Some causes are

Natural Causes

The Earth's climate can be affected by natural factors that are external to the climate system, such as changes in volcanic activity, solar output, and

the Earth's orbit around the Sun.

Human Causes

Climate change can also be caused by human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels and the conversion of land for forestry and agriculture. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, these human influences on the

climate system have increased substantially.
