assim a alma do mobiliário Português pelo Mundo.

Alfama é o primeiro objecto de design criado pela IPOTZ STUDIO para a TRALHÃO FURNITURE, que ambiciona através do design perpetuar memórias, reinterpretar técnicas e conceitos do passado. Em suma, recriar um universo alicerçado numa dicotomia entre o passado e o futuro.

O nome Alfama surge da fusão fonética entre a palavra “alfa” (1ª letra do alfabeto grego) e “ama” (amor pelo design). Por outro lado, retrata um dos bairros mais car-acterísticos e emblemáticos de Lisboa: Alfama.

Inspirado na Azulejaria Portuguesa, elemento basilar da cultura nacional. Alfama para além de ser um tributo ao design anónimo de gerações e gerações passadas, pro-cura conceptualmente personificar o mundo de hoje. Um mundo em constante desconstrução e profunda trans-formação global. Alfama deseja comunicar graficamente a monumentalidade presente na arquitectura nacional, confrontando a dualidade Ética vs. Estética.

Alfama is the first design object created by Tralhão Furniture, which has the ambition through design, to perpetuate memories, reinterpret techniques and concepts from the past. Summing up, recreating a universe grounded in a dichotomy between past and future.

The name Alfama is the fusion between the two words “alpha” (1st letter of the Greek alphabet) and “ama” — love in portuguese (love for design). On the other hand, portrays one of the most characteristic and emblematic neighborhoods of Lisbon: Alfama.

It is inspired in Portuguese Tiles, a basic element of national culture. Alfama besides being a tribute to the anonymous design of generations and past generations, aims to conceptually personify the world today; a world in constant deconstruction and deep global transforma-tion. Alfama desires to communicate graphically, the monumentality present in the national architecture, confronting the duality Ethics vs. Aesthetics.

Esta peça multifuncional é composta de distintas formas recortadas a laser e lacada a branco de alto brilho.O seu interior surpreendente é atingido graças a uma disposição imprevista de gavetas e uma variedade de acabamentos, como folha de ouro com uma camada de verniz por cima e chapas de aço inox recortadas a laser.A interacção entre o exterior e o interior é visível através da luz que penetra a peça que atinge os elementos re-flectores. Uma sensação de leveza é alcançada graças ao seu pé em inox.

This multifunctional piece is made of distinctive laser cut shapes with a white lacquered high gloss finish. The surprising interior is achieved thanks to a playful display of the drawers and a variety of finishes, such as gold leaf with a varnish layer on top and laser cut stainless steel plate. An interaction of the exterior and interior is visible through the light penetrating the piece and reaching the reflective elements. A sense of lightness is attained due to its stainless steel feet.

Embebido no desejo de uma “súbita sensação da realização”, a Epifania collection pretende através do design representar uma nova “urbanidade sensorial” inspirada em elementos de identidade histórica, cultural e artística.

“Criou-se assim uma cidade de porcelana”, um cenário mágico em que o ritmo dos elementos construídos se torna exuberante pelo brilho, pelo desenho, pela cor mas sobretudo pelas características próprias de uma realidade mutável, em constante transformação e evolução.

Immersed in the desire for a “sudden sense of making”, Epiphany collection aims through design to represent a new “sensory urbanity” inspired in historical, cultural and artistic identity elements.

“A city of porcelain was created”, a magical setting where the pace of the built elements become exuberant through brightness, design, colour, but mainly by its own charac-teristics of a changing reality in constant transformation and evolution.
