THANK YOU
Last week many of our parish
community enjoyed a beautiful day at
the parish picnic. It was great to see
so much laughter and sharing and
feasting. From music to magic to sun
and smiles – It was truly a great day
and enjoyed by all – thanks to you.
Thanks for coming with your salads
and brownies (Doritos), faith, and
above all joy.
Thank you to the many folks who
worked behind the scenes and on the
scene to help ensure a beautiful time
for our parish family. The Mayor Rob-
ert Sabosik, Councilmen and women
Toni DePaola and Michael Thulen Jr.
(Mayor Sabosik admitted he’s a St.
Peter’s Catholic –but we’ll forgive him
for his generous permission for our
use of the park). Thanks too to our
hospitality committee and Terry and
Tino Constantino –Terry and her hus-
band did much of the background
planning and coordinating. To them
we are all grateful. Thanks to our
Sacristans –Diane Aakjer- and our
ministers who helped our community
gather not only for food and fun, but
for worship. Thanks too to our great
Knights of Columbus council, Tom
Kozlowski, Ed Lavan, and Tony De-
Cresci and all those great men for
picking up the grill and for cooking so
many delicious burgers and hot dogs.
The knights are a small but critical
part of our overall parish – and in so
many ways throughout the year these
brave men witness to the joy, fellow-
ship, and brotherhood of belonging
to Jesus. To them we are also truly
grateful.
Congratulations to the winners of
the Great Cop Out Raffle! I hope the
extra funds came to those who need
them. This weekend we should be
seeing the help of a great police of-
ficer out front – and that’s all thanks
to you guys who reached in your
pockets and reached out to help.
Thanks also to the men and women
of our parish finance council who co-
ordinated the raffle. Their work and
leadership is ensuring we’ll be a vi-
brant and relevant parish for years to
come.
If I missed anyone, which no
doubt happens when you start a
thank you column, please forgive me.
Jesus assures us that our Heavenly
Father sees what you do in secret and
will repay you. Thank you so very
much. You guys rock.
On a different note, this past
week (Tuesday – Thursday) the
priests of our diocese were on convo-
cation together. While normally this
is a time for fraternity and enriched
spirituality, this year we were en-
gaged in talks relating to the future of
our church – particularly how to ad-
dress the priest shortage that we
have in America. Because of the
numbers of people in the northeast,
we’ve been sheltered from seeing it,
but now that’s changing. We’re run-
ning out of priests, and in just 3 more
years, we’re going to lose 51 more
priests to retirement age. Vocations
numbers are increasing – but not to
the growth rate of Catholics overall.
We’ll be at 1 priest per parish, and will
no longer be able to run things as
they have been. What this means –
with mass times and availability and
resources- we don’t know, but we’re
beginning to talk about it and plan for
the future. I’ll be asking the brain-
storming help of some of you towards
this end. Please be open to changes,
and please pray for vocations.
In Christ,
(week 2. . .lets see the Giants, Ea-
gles, Steelers, and Vikings make a
comeback! Goodjob last week Jets. .
.I guess miracles do happen)

We would like to extend a special Thank You to
the Harvest folk choir for the great job at the out-door Mass last weekend. The Harvest Folk Choir is comprised of a vast variety of people. Some of whom are professional musicians who enjoy giv-ing their time to the parish, while others are folks who enjoy singing. All of you are a gift to our Par-ish Community. Your beautiful singing truly en-hances our liturgies. Our community truly appre-ciates all you do. Peace to All! RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a program whereby an adult can experience the Catholic faith community while learning about the teachings and traditions of the Cath-olic Church. If you are an unbaptized person and want to learn more
about the Catholic faith in order to become a Catholic, or
a baptized Christian of another denomination and want to learn about and join the Catholic tradition, or
a baptized Roman Catholic who has not re-ceived Eucharist or Confirmation and want to become a full participant in the life of the Church,
then RCIA is the program for you. Throughout the process you will be surrounded by an environ-ment of support and guidance as you discover how God is working in your life. If you feel you are ready to take the first step on this faith journey, call Micki at 908.902.1724 or email: [email protected].
Classes begin on September 20, 2015.

Meetings: Sunday 5-7 pm downstairs
Thanks to everyone who donated to our Cen-ter toiletry drive. They are greatly appreciated by the staff and clients at the Center. We have a couple parishioners that work at the Center reg-ularly, so anytime anyone would like to make a donation, they can be dropped off to my atten-tion at the parish office.
Our first high school ministry meeting of the new academic year will be tonight. I have re-cently spoken to some parents of high schoolers that are new to the parish. It was a pleasure speaking with all of you and I look forward to wel-coming your children and all other newcomers to the group.
We are planning a car wash during morning Masses on Sunday, September 27. For your con-venience, if you want your car washed, you simply park your car in the section near the Reli-gious Education entrance and your car will be washed during Mass.
We have also been asked to help with the St. Vincent de Paul Walk/Run at the Brick Reservoir on October 3. Details about the walk are at www.fopwalk.org
Anyone who would like to help at either the carwash or the walk that can't make the meet-ing tonight, please get in touch with me for de-tails. ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL NIGHT
