Sharing the Gospel

Today is Christ the King Sunday. Instead of using his power selfishly to get whatever he wanted,

Jesus used his power to free people from sickness, from death, and from evil. Jesus came to tell us the truth about God. Now we need to listen to the voice

of Jesus and follow his example.

Prayer Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to be our

loving king.

Something to Draw

Draw a picture of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns.

Mission for the Week

We "listen to Jesus" when we follow his example. This week, let others go first when you play a game.

GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE

November 25, 2018 34th Sunday in Ordinary Time

If you brought your child to the restroom during the Liturgy of the Word, you might walk away with one

of two interpretations of Jesus as King. The first and second readings are bold and victorious. We see

Christ coming on the clouds for the final judgment of heaven and earth. The Gospel sets a very differ-

ent tone. Jesus is under arrest and facing death before Pontius Pilate. We know how this story will

end. So if Christ is King, what does it mean? Is he a glorious conqueror or a suffering servant?

"My kingdom does not belong to this world." Here is the heart of Jesus' reign. He is a king -- and his

"subjects" are alive and well on earth -- but, ultimately, Jesus' kingdom transcends our earthly con-

cepts of power. Jesus faced down the temptation of a solely earthly kingship. At the close of his 40

days in the desert, the devil offered him the kingdoms of the world. Jesus only had to sacrifice his heavenly values and worship Satan.

The same temptations to distort the kingship of Christ are present to us today. Jesus' invitation also endures. "Everyone who belongs to

the truth listens to my voice." It is important for us to belong to the full truth of Christ's kingdom.

First, our own hearts must be transformed. Our own rebellions in favor of selfishness and against holiness must be conquered by God's

grace. Second, we must work to transform the world as best we can in our own corner of it. Like Jesus shows us by his life and death,

this doesn't mean domination. It means service, sacrifice, respect, and love. Our lives must "testify to the truth" of Jesus Christ, who lays

down his life for his people. That is the true beauty of Christ the King!

Woman leaves Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic. "My Baby has a Heartbeat?" One simple fact can make all the difference in the world for a mother consid-ering abortion. Recently, a pro-life advocate with Created Equal spoke with a mother outside the Planned Parenthood facility in St. Louis, Missouri. When he told her that her unborn baby already has a heartbeat, the mother responded with surprise and began to think twice about going through with her scheduled abortion.

"My baby has a heartbeat?" she asked in surprise.... Their conversation concluded with the woman saying she planned to leave the abortion facility and head to the pregnancy center to hear her baby's heartbeat. Source: LifeNews.com Nov. 9, 2018.

Reminder: Please bring your filled or unfilled baby bottles, as soon as possible, to the back of either church or the church office. Thanks for your support.

Weekly Event Calendar

On Sunday, December 3, at the 11:00 Mass at Mary Mother of Peace Church, the parish community will have the opportunity to recognize men

and women who are part of the parish English-speaking RCIA process. Among them are those who have been baptized in other faith communities and who are now choos-ing to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church. There are also men and women who are baptized Catholics who are now choosing to complete their initiation into the Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucha-rist. We welcome these men and women and promise them our prayerful support as they continue their journeys of faith.

RUN—HIDE—FIGHT!

Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School News

From the desk of Mark J. Record, Principal…

On Wednesday, November 20th, our school community gathered together for scriptural reflection and prayer of thanks for the blessings that God has bestowed upon our families. Our student Council led our student body, faculty and parents in prayer and our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade choir led us in songs of praise.

Our school community is most grateful to the pastors, priests and parishioners of our eight supporting parishes for all of their wonderful support. You remain in our prayers each day.

On Monday, November 19th, our Student Council delivered donated items to the Seton Center in Princess Anne, MD. While there, our students were given a tour of the Center and an explanation of the mission and ministry that it pro-vides. Our students also provided service hours to the Cen-ter before leaving.

Back by popular demand, the MBS Fashion Show will be held on Thursday, November 29th from 5:30 to 8:30pm. You'll enjoy dinner by Le Donne Cucina, glass of wine (if you want), dessert by Mio Fratello and of course a night full of Fashion and Flare!! There is a 50/50 Raffle, Ticket Auction items and local vendors selling their mer-chandise (just in time for the holidays), too. Tickets are $40 in advance (you can reserve a table so make it a girls night out!) or $45 at the Door. Contact Rebecca Taylor for tickets ([email protected]). Tickets are also on sale on our website. We are looking for help with some of the preparations for Fashion Show so if you'd like to assist, please email Anne Flaherty: [email protected]

Through the kindness and generosity of Selbyville Holly Kia, MBS is again raffling off a car. This year's prize is a 2019 5-

Door Kia Rio or $10,000 CASH. One of our MBS families won last year!! Tickets this year are $5 each, $20 for 5 or $50 for 13. Proceeds benefit the technology development fund of MBS. This gives us the ability to purchase more tab-lets for our third through eighth grades and enables teach-ers to utilize a one-to-one digital technology ratio within daily instruction. The drawing will be held at STREAM Night, May 22, 2019.

NOTICE!

Now that the flu season is upon us, we will offer communion in only one form, the Body of Christ. Effective immediately, the Precious Blood

of Christ will not be offered at Communion. It has also been advised by health of-ficials that we refrain from shaking hands during the Sign of Peace, and acknowledge your neigh-bor verbally. Thank you for your cooperation.
