About the Performance
Main concept
• 10 min. performance of short episode
• The performance tells the story of communications and interactions between ground control station(Sri Lanka) and a spaceship(Korea) set in a space exploration.
• The BGM is re-arranged from David Bowie’s original song “Space Oddity”(1969).
Choreographic Aspects
• Articulation
Because of the time delay and network’s instability, we will try to reduce the sequential data by regulating the actor’s movement per frame. The players mostly move their corporal articulation one by one, so the audience could follow the story regardless of the possible data loss during the play.
• Mirror image
The camera in Sri Lanka will capture the actor’s performing, and the images will be shown in Korea with little time delay. The actor in Korea mirrors the received movements, and they will be presented like mirror images at the same time in one screen.
• Movement in Space
We set an imaginary space station in Korea, and the actor will play as an astronaut who is far away from the earth. For that reason, there will be different movement representing a different gravity.
