Ahmed Reda - IFMSA Training Support Division Candidature 2014-2015

August Meeting 2014 - Taiwan

Motivation LetterDear iFMSa Family,

it’s with great honor and pleasure that i write to you my candidature for the iFMSa training Support Division Director for the 2nd term, 2014-2015.

First, let me introduce myself, my name is ahmad reda, currently iFMSa training Director 2013-2014, 5th year med-ical student lives in egypt. i have worked as iFMSa training Director’s assistant and iFMSa-egypt training Director for the term 2012-2013 and as a local President for the same term.

“The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out” Dee Hock

Since i started my term as a training director and i have been using this quote again and again, it is renewing my motivation to work in such a big division with great potential trainers around the whole world, my experience widens daily by meeting and talking with new different thoughts and creative ideas.

i can assure that i am very motivated to work with this bunch of training family one more year, you never get burnt out as long as you work in the right track with the trainers, every mail i send or every call to trainers is a new story that reveals the passion of the iFMSa trainers to serve the iFMSa and to travel the world to gain new experience, it’s a world full of knowledge and always renewable.

Working for full Gas and rMs has given me a powerful spirit, seeing the trainers react, learn, teach and interact is a bless you will feel when you work there in their field, it’s all about harvest, whenever you plant very well, you are very happy to see the seeds grow up and form an impact on the participants and touch them.

My motivation for the position hasn’t stopped at me only, it gets out that i really want to be there again to help more and serve more and more, i have even worked as a trainer in some companies as the training became a life-style for me personally and as i do believe in the rule that the training is participating and adding to the iFMSa in its reform and its evolution.

Furthermore, i have much more to add to the training family and to the training division, we have just put the very first step in a training revolution that will never end, it will be fed by the new generation of the Specified trainers who will be able to serve the whole iFMSa in the areas of needs and interest by creating full training programs to the iFMSa members and to help them to gain the new skills they need to build their nMos and to work on their evolution.

every Students’ nGo is working mainly on students and only students, so our main goal is capacity building by dif-ferent programs; in the tSD, it’s our main rule to serve this capacity building part to the iFMSa members, including trainings and helping in different approaches such as Srts, Projects and so on and i am very willing and motivated to help and continue what we have started in these fields.

Last but not least, i would like to thank you all for taking time to read my candidature, i promise to exert all my efforts to be trustworthy and to create a strong division which will help in the iFMSa activity and reform and work through this term.

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do”Johann Wolfgang

Shall you have any questions or comments on the candidature, please don’t hesitate to contact me on my email,i will be honored receiving your comments and suggestions.

Yours Faithfully

ahmed reda

PLan oF action“training is the backbone of iFMSa”

our vision is a world in which all medical students unite for global health and are equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to take on health leadership roles locally and globally. and one of our main aims for reaching this is to empower and train medical students to become advocates in leading social change; so we all are confirming the rule of the training Support Division in reaching our goals and objectives for the iFMSa students, and this won’t happen only with a strong plan of action that concentrate mainly on the quality, sustainability and capacity build-ing approach to serve the skills needed to the iFMSa members.

My plan of action is working mainly on 4 main integrated aspects:1. the teamWorking for a whole term with a very good potential international training team has helped the division to grow up and to show what we have as trainers, yet it’s always good to update and renew the team to guarantee the max-imum outcome from the work ; so we will introduce the regional assistants concept in the iFMSa training Division whereas every one of them will be working mainly on:• Development of the region and updating its resources;• Maintaining the quality of the training sessions and training events inside the region and supporting the nMos

in their training related activities;• Helping in the publication inside the region for the training related activities;• Being fully responsible with the tSDD on the regional Meeting of his/her region and performing all the training relat-

ed tasks inside the region including certificates, announcements, trainers’ selection and Pre regional meeting; • Working with the tSDD on the strategic planning of the whole year putting in consideration every region’s needs

to cover the whole iFMSa needs;• Meet periodically with the tSDD and the nMos training Directors or the training responsible persons inside each

nMo to evaluate and monitor the situation in terms of quality assurance.

the regional assistants team will be formed of 5 persons for 5 regions: • ra for europe;• ra for eMr;• ra for PaMSa; • ra for asia-Pacific; • ra for africa.

2. Strategy and Managementthe strategy we have applied in the current term was very successful to the trainers throughout its aspects, yet as mentioned before, we would like to updat, fill in the gaps and add new ideas to the strategy we have created together; so we will be continuing what we have initiated as following:• Publications and communication 1. continuation in updating the iFMSa Yahoo server and the Facebook group 2. new communication channels such as trainedon 3. communication with the whole trainers throughout different online meetings (will be coordinated through the tSD regional assistants) 4. communication with the Standing committees Directors in their needed training sessions

•Developmental 1. continuation of the newly initiated approach of the Specified tnts all over the iFMSa which will help in the development of the trainers and the nMos + creation of strong potential trainers who will be experienced in specific topics to create a pool of experienced trainers who are ready to serve set goals in anytime; 2. applying the training Programs through which we will be able to offer a full program to every iFMSa member in order to become a high qualified trainer through some steps such as: •Trackinghis/hertrainingcareerinIFMSAbyofferingthebesttrainingsessionforhis/herinterestandidenti- fying areas of needs and interests; •Afterfinishingasettimeofthetrainingsessions,sendinghim/hertoaspecifiedTNTforthetopicshe/she shows interest in;•Continuousevaluationandmonitoringofhis/hertrainingcareer, 3. Working on the iFMSa tSD internal operating Guidelines which have been updated this term in terms of qua- lity assurance by asking the hosting nMos for tnts to submit a Set Proposal with mentioned points and criteria to maintain the quality all over the iFMSa training workshops;

4. continuation in the iFMSa resources Manuals to help the nMos and the trainers all over the iFMSa in picking their resources with less time, effort and maximum efficacy; 5. Updating the trainers’ Database (Data collected and waiting for the confirmation of the usage of the website to add the data); 6. Printing the iFMSa tSD Manual and distributing them to the nMos in the Gas and rMs to help in the develop- ment of the tSDs in these nMos; 7. Maintaining the support to the different capacity building events in iFMSa such as Srts, Project Presentations, iPets and so on; 8. Maintaining the evaluation and reporting system that has been initiated this term over the servers with the nMos tSDs and Presidents in terms of quality assurance; 9. Updating the validation system of the tnts and tots in the iFMSa meetings and nMos.

•Fundraising 1. coordinating with iFMSa vPe to contact external partners for the support of the trainers worldwide in the train- ing related activities; 2. re-allocation of the tSD budget on the iFMSa different international meetings to help in the support of the iFMSa trainers worldwide.

•external representation 1. Maintaining an open channel with the external training partners and companies to offer different opportuni- ties to the iFMSa trainers to widen their knowledge and experience; 2. My main approach is not to get an external trainer, yet to create an iFMSa trainer who has the potentials to learn, grow up and go out the iFMSa to get new training skills and return back to give iFMSa the benefit better than hiring an external trainer for that. We are a students’ organization and our main approach is not to be professional, yet to learn and get benefit of the external trainers and to build our own trainers to be future leaders and experienced doctors; 3. attending personally different training and capacity building external meetings to search for opportunities for the iFMSa tSD and widens the circle of partners with the help of the iFMSa Los.

•Motivation and empowerment after working for a whole term with the iFMSa trainers, i do believe in the role of the motivation and empower- ment in our work as trainers through refreshing the iFMSa tSD FB Group and continuous update to the trainers about what’s going on plus motivation of the trainers in the meetings by capturing group photos, meeting for a while before the sessions and after them and adding every single motivation technique to keep up the high spirit.

3. iFMSa MeetingsiFMSa meetings is the main channel to offer the work of the divisions and the standing committees, so we will make sure that the iFMSa is serving the attendants with the maximum benefits that we can offer by the following steps:•regional Meetings: 1. assessing the regional needs with every regional assistant by sending out surveys and making sure to offer these needed training topics and needs; 2. applying for tnts/tots/ Specified tnts in every Pre regional Meeting upon the need of the region itself; 3. Helping out the regional assistants of the Scs in their morning Scs sessions; 4. offering the needed training sessions in every nMo Management Sessions being the official channel to ap- proach the nMo leaders + the Presidents Sessions; 5. approaching the nMos Presidents personally to initiate tSDs in their nMos if not present and update the al- ready present ones.

•General assemblies: 1. assessing the Ga needs by sending out surveys and making sure to offer these needed training topics and needs; 2. including the Ga training Sessions registration system inside the Ga registration system itself and has been done successfully along this term and has shown great help to the organization system; 3. Maintaining the quality assurance surveys sent after the sessions to evaluate the trainer and the training division; 4. Helping out the Scs Directors in their morning sessions if needed; 5. offering the needed training sessions inside the nMo Management Sessions.

•Sub regional trainings, international Peer education trainings and different capacity building events: 1. Sending out trainers if needed to offer the soft skills part in the mentioned sessions; 2. Helping promoting and marketing for the workshops; 3. Maintaining the quality of the workshops by offering evaluation and reporting training sessions if needed.
