After class, Jane and Bob are talking in the classroom. They are talking about a wonderful HBL game they watched yesterday. (J = Jane, B = Bob)
B: It sure was. When our team scored in the last seconds, I went crazy.
J: Yesterday’s HBL game was fantasticfantastic!
J: Me too. But, win or lose, I always get excited and have a good time.
B: Right. When our players hear us cheer, we know they will try their best for us.
B: Well, they say that the NBA games on TV are more fun to watch.
J: Oh, but we must tell them a is more exciting.

此為感官動詞的用法。「感官動詞+受詞」後面若要再接動作,則使用原形動詞或現在分詞。本句 cheer為原形動詞。感官動詞除了 hear之外,還有 see, watch, notice, listen to, feel等,這些動詞加上受詞後,受詞後面接的動作必須用原形動詞或現在分詞。例:
• We always see our mother take/
taking care of our little sister.
• A lot of people watched the player
dunk/dunking the ball.
• We noticed Lily sleep/sleeping on the
sofa.
• When Davis listens to the singer
sing/singing, he feels happy.
• I could feel my cat sleep/sleeping
